Neurolink System in the Modern World

Chapter 530: Science vs Magic

The whole place went silent after my small display of power.

Even the crowd below, which had been bad-mouthing me moments ago, was now filled with fear.

Their faces turned pale, eyes wide with terror as they watched the sky.

Some covered their mouths in shock, while others clung to each other for comfort.

They had believed that a member of the United Power could protect them, but I had just shown them otherwise.

As for me, I had to keep my poker face in check, even though I was having a blast with this power trip.

I’d been humble for so long, it almost felt like I could apply for the most low key person award .

So, this rare chance to show off was a welcome change of pace.

It might be totally inconsistent with my humble self, but sometimes I feel it’s okay to be a bit arrogant and assertive, even if just a little bit.

"Is that it? Is that everything?" I taunted, raising my left hand and gesturing for them to attack me. I know I might look awkward right now because I’m not used to being this overbearing.

BZZZZZZZZ!

Suddenly, a loud humming sound echoed in the sky, growing louder and louder, like the roar of giant airplane propellers.

I had already noticed the source of these strange noises long before, but I chose to ignore it completely.

It had used some kind of invisibility technology that allowed it to bend light, something I expected the United States to possess, given they had access to the most advanced alien technology among other continents.

As the buzzing sound grew louder, five enormous airships materialized out of thin air, deactivating their invisibility cloaks.

Each vessel was a colossal structure, a floating fortress with sleek, metallic hulls and an imposing presence that dominated the sky.

They were equipped with multiple landing pads, where smaller robots and aircraft were stationed, ready for deployment.

The central command tower rose high above the deck, bristling with antennae and sensor arrays.

From this vantage point, people likely monitored every move in the air.

Massive turbines, four on each ship, kept the leviathans a float, their blades spinning with a deep, resonant hum.

The turbines generated a powerful downdraft, causing the air to swirl around the ships and sending gusts of wind through the streets below.

The crowd gasped in unison, eyes widening at the sight of the enormous ships hovering in the sky.

"Talk about a grand entrance," I muttered, a smirk forming on my face. "Looks like someone brought the big guns I was asking for."

"We will not surrender. This is the nation of the free. We will never let anyone conquer us," a robotic voice reverberated through the air, amplified by the loudspeakers on the five airships.

"Nation of the Free?" I raised my eyebrows.

This guy really had a way with words. He sounded like a typical politician spouting nonsense just to win the favor of the people.

But it had another effect as the crowd below started cheering.

"Beat him!"

"Destroy that alien!"

"Show him the power of the strongest Nation in the World!"

Their fear turned into defiance, their voices growing louder as they rallied behind the thought that this airships could somehow reverse the situation.

If I were just an impulsive, petty god, I would have taught these people a lesson or two. But because I was merciful, I would let them be for now.

They would become my people soon enough, so there was no need to kill them.

"Alright, let see if this things could even handle one attack ," I taunted .

"Don’t disappoint me, " As I spoke, one of my elemental giants, which wielded control over wind, hummed aggressively .

It began to transform, swirling and gathering the wind until it coalesced into a literal massive hurricane in the sky.

The wind was so strong that I had to make sure it hovered above the city, or it would have wrecked everything in sight.

The massive airships, once imposing, now seemed small against the swirling vortex of my elemental giant’s unleashed power.

I had expected it to be a one-hit attack, but then the airships hummed even louder, each one enveloped in a shimmering yellow barrier.

The barrier formed, resembling a hive of interconnected energy cells that pulsed with a faint glow.

As the elemental hurricane bore down, the barriers expanded outward from the hulls of the airships, weaving together seamlessly like a protective net.

"Good, but let’s see if you can handle two at once," I smirked, raising my staff.

The other giant, crackling with lightning, merged with the hurricane.

A thunderous sound echoed as both giants fused together, creating a literal hurricane made of swirling wind and crackling lightning.

Seeing that they could not contend with the attack, the airships fled from the hurricane.

I raised my staff to direct the hurricane to follow them. It was like a cat-and-mouse chase, but on a massive scale.

"You all can run, but you can’t hide with how big these things are," I chuckled.

BURST!

A bursting sound reverated, but it didn’t come from the airship.

Instead, when I looked down at my chest, I saw a hand pierce it from behind.

"You let your guard down," a voice echoed behind me.

I turned my head to see a green humanoid figure, but its body had no skin; instead, it was composed of condensed energy—nuclear energy, to be exact.

"Not really," I replied with a chuckle, showing no pain or agony at all.

The humanoid creature looked puzzled, sensing something was amiss.

But before it could process what was happening, my body exploded into light, breaking down into atoms.

Moments later, I reassembled myself a few meters away.

"Molecular Control!" The humanoid exclaimed in shock.

"Molecular control?" I asked, furrowing my eyebrows as if pretending not to understand his jargon.

"I think you’re misunderstanding something. This is not Molecular Control. This is called magic..." I paused, contemplating a suitable name for the ability I had just demonstrated.

"I call it… I call it…."

"Molecular Control Magic," I declared, looking quite pleased with myself for coming up with such an original and awesome name.
