Naruto: You Call This A Medical Ninja?

Chapter 577: Chapter 577: The Recognition of Two Girls and the Orphanage Problem

After hearing Reiki's answer, Shizune froze. The piece of meat in her chopsticks hovered in midair as her mind went blank.

When Shizune came to talk to Reiki, she had already prepared herself.

If Reiki chose Kurenai, she was ready to bless them both and follow in her teacher's footsteps, remaining unmarried and dedicating herself to the practice of medical ninjutsu.

If Reiki chose her, she knew Kurenai would bless them both in return.

But now, Reiki said he would choose both of them…

This… how was this possible?

No one in Konoha had ever had two wives.

Shizune's simple mind temporarily shut down.

"Boom!" Reiki gently tapped Shizune on the head.

"We're still young! There's no need to worry about such things right now," he said with a smile.

"In the future, if Lady Tsunade or Kurenai's father don't agree, I'll take you both and flee Konoha."

"With my medical ninjutsu, we can survive anywhere in the ninja world. Now, eat up. I've already sent my shadow clone to fetch Kurenai and Anye. Don't overthink it."

Shizune snapped out of her daze, her cheeks flushing red.

When someone likes another person, their logic sometimes disappears completely. Reiki's words made little sense—if anything, the two women would still have to follow him.

But Shizune didn't mind.

Sometimes, feelings couldn't be explained; they were simply about willingness.

Soon, Kurenai and Anye arrived.

"Huh? Reiki, why is Shizune looking so down?" Kurenai asked, noticing Shizune's awkward expression.

"She doesn't look happy, but she's not upset either. What's going on? Does this mean you picked me?"

Reiki smiled wryly.

"I didn't choose. You're both very important to me. Now, sit down and eat," he said, placing a piece of barbecue on Kurenai's plate.

Kurenai blushed deeply, her doubts vanishing as she obediently sat down and began eating.

Anye, watching this interaction, waited expectantly for Reiki to offer him some food.

However, Reiki completely ignored him.

When Reiki had served both women six times each, Anye realized something: if he didn't act, he'd starve.

After their barbecue meal, evening had fallen.

The group wandered around Konoha, visiting the ninja academy, the public training grounds, and Shadowleaf Lake before returning to Tsunade's courtyard.

"Alright," Reiki said, addressing both girls.

"I've already given you my answer. I may not be the most dedicated person. Your constant companionship has touched me, and I've grown used to it. But honestly, it's brought me more joy than anything else.

"I'm not going to give up on either of you. Let's head back to the training camp."

Reiki patted Anye's side.

"Got it!" Anye nodded, transforming into a long black dragon that hovered over the courtyard.

"Well, I'm glad you chose both of us," Shizune said with a smile before jumping onto Anye's back.

"This works out," Kurenai agreed.

"If Shizune had to give up, I wouldn't have been happy anyway."

She joined Shizune on Anye's back, her expression relaxed and content.

"Boss!"

Just then, a voice called out to Reiki.

"Makawa? What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be at the special training camp?" Reiki asked, noticing Makawa's panicked expression.

"I came back on the first day of vacation. There are still many kids at the orphanage who need me, so I visit regularly. But, Boss, we've got a problem," Makawa explained quickly.

"A problem? What happened?" Reiki asked, his tone serious.

Makawa summarized the situation in a few words.

Reiki's expression hardened. "Let's go!" he said, vanishing instantly.

"Anye, don't leave yet. Let's go check it out!" Shizune said, taking Kurenai's hand as they jumped down and headed toward the orphanage.

Reiki arrived at the orphanage within a minute. Activating his system scan, he immediately noticed red flags on several children.

Why hadn't he thought to check on the orphanage earlier? If Makawa hadn't discovered this issue…

His heart sank as he entered the building.

"Boss Reiki!" The children's faces lit up with joy at his arrival.

"Leave this to me," Reiki said confidently, beginning to examine the kids.

It didn't take long for Reiki to identify the problem.

"Chakra overproduction?!" Reiki muttered in shock.

"How is this happening?"

Turning to Makawa, he asked, "Are they using my potions for body training?"

"Yes, Boss," Makawa confirmed.

"I've been rationing the potions monthly. And since resources aren't a concern anymore, the kids don't compete with each other like before."

Makawa explained the arrangement in detail. Reiki had entrusted the orphanage to Makawa from the beginning, and the boy had always done a great job.

But this issue had cropped up suddenly.

"If it's not the potion…" Reiki began to hypothesize.

When Shizune and Kurenai arrived, Reiki had already extracted the excess chakra from the children.

"This is similar to what happened to Uchiha Itachi before," Reiki said, recalling the past case.

"When too many nutrients and too much energy are absorbed in the womb, the meridians become compressed and eroded. But these are orphans—their parents died in the last battle. The youngest here is only seven years old.

"When I first arrived, they were still crawling and learning to walk. There's no way their parents had the means to provide such conditions…"

Reiki's thoughts darkened as he pondered the implications.
