Chapter 521: Chapter 521: Professionally Dealing with Evil Cult Members
It didn't take long for Reiki and his summoned allies, Chodori and An Ye, to completely subdue the cult members. Their so-called immortality proved no match for the trio's skill and strategy. The battle—or what could barely be called one—was over.
Chodori stormed over to Reiki, her face a mix of irritation and disappointment. "This is what you called a 'very powerful enemy'? Seriously?!"
She folded her arms and glared. "That wasn't a battle. They didn't even stand a chance. Their fighting was so bad I didn't even break a sweat."
An Ye, standing silently nearby, said nothing but gave a subtle nod. He wasn't as frustrated as Chodori, but the lack of challenge didn't exactly excite him either. For him, sparring with Reiki would have been far more rewarding than dealing with these weaklings.
Reiki scratched the back of his head, looking sheepish. "Uh... in my defense, the Evil God Cult in my memory was supposed to be stronger. I mean, I thought their abilities would be at least comparable to Hidan's."
He gestured to the subdued cult members lying around them. "But, well... their scythes couldn't even scratch your skin, and you two basically flattened them without any effort."
Chodori huffed. "Next time, don't summon me for something so boring. I'm going back. Let me know when you've got a real fight lined up."
"Yeah, same," An Ye said with a shrug. "This was pointless. Call me when you're ready for a proper sparring match."
With a puff of smoke, the two vanished, leaving Reiki alone with the incapacitated cultists. He sighed, already missing their presence, but he had work to do.
Reiki turned to the cultists, who lay sprawled out like discarded dolls. He inspected the results of his work: limbs neatly severed and sealed with the Surgical Fruit technique, rendering them unable to reattach. Their immortality might keep them alive, but it wouldn't help them now.
"Alright," Reiki said, clapping his hands together. "Let's get to the treatment. I want to see what secrets your so-called 'immortal bodies' are hiding."
He knelt beside one of the cultists and placed a hand on their chest, activating his diagnostic abilities. As his chakra flowed into the man's body, he quickly noticed anomalies.
Discoveries in the Cultist's Body
Chakra Distribution
Instead of being concentrated in the meridians, chakra was dispersed throughout every part of their body. Their bodies weren't functioning like normal human vessels but rather as chakra storage tanks.
Fragmented Souls
The cultists' souls weren't intact. It was as if their souls had been shattered and fused with their physical bodies, creating an unnatural union. This explained their "immortality"—their life force was spread across their entire form.
Senjutsu Chakra
A faint trace of senjutsu chakra was present in their bodies. It wasn't much, but it was enough to prevent their physical and spiritual forms from degrading. This chakra, however, was unnaturally implanted, forcibly integrated into their bodies without regard for compatibility.
Reiki's eyes narrowed as he pieced together the implications. The cultists were essentially failed experiments. Their immortality wasn't the result of divine power but a grotesque misuse of senjutsu chakra.
And behind it all, there was likely an unknown Sage Land, one tied to this "Evil God." If true, this Sage Land wasn't like the renowned ones of Mount Myoboku, Ryuchi Cave, or Shikkotsu Forest. It was darker, its methods twisted.
As Reiki's thoughts wandered, one of the cultists sneered. "Hahaha... you're wasting your time, medical ninja. You'll never understand us. Lord Evil God has blessed us with his power. You can't treat us, and you can't kill us!"
The man's arrogance didn't faze Reiki. Instead, it made him smirk.
"You're quite rude for someone lying on the ground," Reiki said casually. "But if you insist on running your mouth, let me tell you this—I've already figured out how to deal with your so-called immortality."
The cultist's smugness faltered. "W-what?"
"Let me show you," Reiki said, his hands glowing with chakra. "It's time for your next treatment."
Reiki's Plan
The cultist didn't realize that Reiki's abilities weren't limited to diagnostics. By leveraging the Surgical Fruit and his medical expertise, Reiki began working on the man's body.
"Your immortality hinges on three things," Reiki explained as he worked. "Your fragmented soul, your chakra-infused body, and that little sliver of senjutsu chakra keeping everything together. I can dismantle all three."
The cultist's confidence crumbled as he felt his body respond to Reiki's technique. "Impossible... you can't...!"
But Reiki ignored him. His fingers moved precisely, cutting off the connection between the cultist's chakra and his fragmented soul. With the senjutsu chakra isolated, the man's immortality unraveled.
"There we go," Reiki said cheerfully. "Now you're just an ordinary guy with some missing limbs. Not so immortal anymore, huh?"
The cultist's eyes widened in horror. "You... you can't do this...! The Evil God will—"
"Yeah, yeah," Reiki interrupted. "You've got your faith. I've got science. Let's see which one wins."
Reiki stood up, surveying the subdued cultists. Their so-called immortality was nothing more than a fragile construct, and he had cracked it wide open. Now, he had confirmation: the Evil God Cult's power was tied to a Sage Land.
"This just got interesting," he muttered to himself. "Time to pay this 'Evil God' a visit and figure out what's really going on."
With a grin, Reiki set his sights on his next destination, ready to uncover the truth behind the cult and their twisted connection to the Sage Lands.
