Naruto: The Tale of an Otsutsuki

Chapter 150: Chapter 150: Sasuke's Purpose

After Orochimaru was brought back to Konoha by Kirito and the others, his body, already suffering from rejection, began to deteriorate rapidly without access to his usual drugs and equipment.

The physical agony from the rejection, combined with the relentless interrogation by the Torture Department, made Orochimaru's imprisonment a living hell.

But he refused to yield. Fueled by his obsession with Sasuke's body and his unwavering trust in Kabuto, Orochimaru endured with extraordinary willpower, waiting for his subordinate to rescue him.

Even after Kabuto successfully freed him, Orochimaru didn't flee immediately. Instead, he sought out Sasuke, intending to escape with him. For Orochimaru, losing Sasuke would mean that his efforts over the past three years had been for nothing.

Before leaving, Orochimaru arrived at Sasuke's holding cell, prepared to take him along. If Sasuke resisted, Orochimaru planned to use the Living Corpse Reincarnation technique to devour Sasuke's body on the spot.

However, he didn't expect Sasuke to choose to stay in Konoha. Orochimaru couldn't understand Sasuke's reasoning, but he decided to carry out the reincarnation ritual anyway.

As Sasuke was bound by countless poisonous snakes, his consciousness was pulled into a bizarre, grotesque space.

This strange domain was made entirely of pulsating, sticky flesh. As Sasuke entered, fleshy pillars sprouted from the ground, each bearing human faces.

Sasuke immediately recognized these faces as previous hosts Orochimaru had used for his reincarnation.

"This must be the place where Orochimaru conducts the reincarnation ritual," Sasuke thought as he observed the grotesque surroundings.

A figure emerged from the writhing flesh. Orochimaru, though weakened, smirked with confidence. "This space is under my control, Sasuke. There's no escape for you!"

As Orochimaru spoke, the fleshy ground began creeping up Sasuke's legs, swiftly enveloping him. In moments, the flesh reached his neck, threatening to engulf him entirely.

Despite the overwhelming situation, Sasuke remained calm. Activating his blood-red Sharingan, he locked eyes with Orochimaru.

"So, all this was to get my Sharingan. Since you couldn't claim Itachi's, you set your sights on me," Sasuke said coldly. "For a so-called genius among the 'Three Legendary Sannin,' you're nothing but a clown chasing the power of the Uchiha."

Orochimaru's smirk faltered, replaced with anger. "How dare you!" he growled, intensifying the flesh's grip on Sasuke.

However, as the Curse Mark on Sasuke's neck began to glow, the flesh under Orochimaru's control was quickly corrupted. The curse mark spread like wildfire, purging Orochimaru's influence and driving the flesh back.

Within moments, the entire space—once Orochimaru's domain—was overtaken by Sasuke's power.

"Impossible! This is my space! How can you control it?!" Orochimaru shouted in horror as the corrupted flesh turned against him, beginning to consume his own body.

"For the sake of your so-called pursuit of 'truth,' you've trampled over countless lives. You disgust me," Sasuke said, his voice icy.

Scenes of Orochimaru's human experiments flashed through Sasuke's mind—gruesome memories of suffering and death. It reminded him of the night of the Uchiha massacre, when Itachi claimed to have wiped out their clan to "test his limits."

For Sasuke, Orochimaru embodied everything he hated: someone who toyed with lives for selfish and hollow ambitions.

As Orochimaru screamed in defiance, the corrupted flesh devoured him completely. With his enemy vanquished, Sasuke stood alone in the grotesque space.

Kirito, who had witnessed the entire sequence through Sasuke's Sharingan, saw the flesh in the illusion condense and spread toward him.

Snap! The moment the flesh touched Kirito's shoes, the illusory world shattered like glass. The simple, barren cell reappeared, its dull surroundings illuminated by a single incandescent lamp.

"Hngh..." Sasuke groaned, covering his eyes as the illusion broke. Despite his efforts to perfect his genjutsu using techniques he'd learned from Orochimaru, Kirito had forcibly dispelled it.

Kirito, unaffected by Sasuke's pain, asked calmly, "Where's Kabuto?"

"After seeing Orochimaru consumed, he retreated immediately," Sasuke replied, his hand still shielding his eyes. "Some of Orochimaru's fanatics tried to avenge him, but Konoha's forces surrounded them. Kabuto chose not to waste time on me."

Kirito nodded. "Understood. One more question: why are you being so honest with me?"

Kirito couldn't help but find Sasuke's cooperative attitude strange. Sasuke, known for his aloofness, rarely shared anything willingly.

Sasuke, having recovered slightly, replied bluntly, "Because they trust you. And I need them to trust me if I'm going to leave this prison and achieve my goal."

Sasuke had considered escaping Konoha outright but abandoned the idea when Kirito returned.

He knew that Kirito's Byakugan would make it impossible to leave unnoticed. A direct confrontation would lead to mutual destruction—an outcome Sasuke couldn't afford, as it would hinder his plans for revenge against Itachi.

By cooperating with Konoha's leadership, Sasuke hoped to secure his release and further his ultimate goal.

Kirito, now understanding Sasuke's reasoning, said, "Alright, I'll report the truth to Lady Tsunade."

He leaned back in his chair, a wry smile on his face. "It's still early. Let's chat some more. I'm curious—if the village truly supports you, how do you plan to take your revenge?"
