Chapter 370: Chapter 370: No One Is Good in the Face of Interests

After two days of rest in Sunagakure, Shinki, now fully recovered, decided it was time to move on. He approached Chiyo to inform her of his departure.

Chiyo seized the moment she had been waiting for. This was her opportunity to address Sunagakure's interests. "Shinki, since this is our first time sitting together for a meaningful conversation, allow me to be direct."

Understanding her intent, Shinki listened attentively as Chiyo outlined the village's interest in obtaining information about creating a perfect Jinchūriki. The allure of controlling a tailed beast with such precision was undeniable.

Shinki smiled and nodded in acknowledgment. "Senior, your request is understandable. The tailed beasts are a vital strategic resource for any village. Unfortunately, controlling them is easier said than done. I must admit, both Raikage and Tsuchikage have expressed similar interests."

Chiyo, hopeful, leaned forward. "Does that mean Konoha is willing to share this information?"

Shinki responded thoughtfully, "Such discussions require careful deliberation. If your village is serious, you can send a delegation to Konoha to negotiate. That's what the Raikage and Tsuchikage were advised to do."

Chiyo nodded and, with a wave of her hand, made a bold declaration: "The Jinchūriki in our village can be replaced if necessary. If it means achieving perfection, we're prepared to take the risk—even if it means some collateral damage."

The potential of creating a perfect Jinchūriki was far too enticing. Shinki could see that Chiyo and the Sand Ninja Village were resolute. He gave a polite nod. "I understand. In that case, I'll await your arrival in Konoha for further discussions. As a word of advice, choosing the right Jinchūriki candidate is critical for success."

Chiyo responded cheerfully. "We've already begun the selection process. Rest assured, we'll make a suitable choice."

Shinki didn't pry further. After all, such details were internal matters of the Sand Ninja Village, and it wasn't his place to ask. After finalizing their agreement, Shinki and the three girls departed Sunagakure aboard a massive puppet eagle, heading toward their next destination—the Land of Water.

As they soared over the coastline of the Land of Wind, Kushina noticed something curious. "Shinki, look! There's so much green vegetation along the coastline. Why didn't they build Sand Ninja Village here instead of in the desert?"

Shinki chuckled. "Do you want to move here?"

He then explained, "The vegetation you see is mostly salt-tolerant plants, and the water sources here are brackish. More importantly, building on the coastline would make the village vulnerable to attacks—especially from the Mist Village's navy. Sunagakure is safer deep in the desert, surrounded by natural barriers."

Kushina huffed. "The Mist Village again! They're so annoying."

Shinki nodded. "They do like to harass the Land of Wind. However, they rarely venture deep into the desert because their strength diminishes in such an environment. The harsh conditions force them to retreat quickly."

Kushina, arms crossed, grinned mischievously. "Wait until we get back to Konoha. I'll make sure to cause them more trouble!"

Shinki laughed at her spirited resolve. "The Mist Village has its share of issues, but let's not pretend Konoha is entirely innocent. No village is. Everyone acts in their own interest, even if it means stepping on others."

Kushina stuck out her tongue but didn't argue further.

After a day of flying over the ocean, the group spotted a cluster of islands scattered along the horizon. Shinki guided the puppet eagle to land on one of the islands.

"We'll rest here for the night," he said. "Tomorrow, we'll head straight to the Mist Village. It's on a larger island, and you'll get to experience the unique scenery of the Land of Water. Be sure to keep your belongings safe—the humidity here will make everything damp if left out."

The group set up camp, preparing to continue their journey the next day. Shinki knew that approaching the Mist Village would require caution. Unlike other nations, the Land of Water was riddled with internal strife, and its leaders were often paranoid.

When they finally neared the Mist Village, Shinki didn't land immediately. Instead, he kept the puppet eagle hovering in the sky, waiting for representatives from the Mist Village to come to them. In other lands, announcing your visit as a leisure trip might be taken at face value. But in the Land of Water, it could easily provoke an attack.

"This place is full of unpredictable lunatics," Shinki thought. "Better to let them come to us first."

The group waited patiently, knowing that in a place like the Mist Village, caution was the wisest approach.
