Chapter 140: Chapter 140: Nagato Appears
Facing the immobilized Matatabi, Akira smirked. With a flicker, he appeared next to the giant beast.
Placing his hand on Matatabi's leg, Akira activated an invisible spatial vortex, gradually engulfing the tailed beast.
Suddenly, just as he was about to complete the absorption, a sharp whistling noise cut through the air.
Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted a black, fist-sized Tailed Beast Bomb hurtling toward him.
"Hmph, right on time," Akira muttered, abandoning the absorption process.
In that moment, he found himself empathizing with Uchiha Obito during the Fourth Great Ninja War—how frustrating it must have been for Obito to have his plans repeatedly interrupted while capturing Uzumaki Naruto.
Boom!
The dark Tailed Beast Bomb struck Matatabi, unleashing blinding light and searing heat that engulfed both Akira and the colossal beast.
In an instant, the ground ruptured, sending shockwaves in every direction. Shinobi who were too close were blown away like leaves in a storm.
When the intense light faded, a massive crater remained. Akira stood at its center, unharmed.
Not far away, Matatabi's blue flames had dimmed significantly. The beast's massive body was riddled with injuries, clearly battered by the explosion.
"Raaagh!"
From hundreds of meters away, Killer Bee let out a frenzied roar. A surge of chakra burst forth from him, and in the blink of an eye, his human form was replaced by a towering beast with the head of a bull and the tentacles of an octopus.
The fully transformed Eight-Tails had entered the battlefield!
Boom! Boom!
The ground trembled as Gyūki charged across the battlefield, thundering toward Akira and Matatabi.
"Bee, judging by his moves earlier, we can only attack Uchiha Akira when he's actively making a move!" Gyūki's voice resonated in Killer Bee's mind.
"I gotcha, Octopops. Earlier, he was about to do something to Matatabi—probably the best time to strike. Otherwise, he wouldn't have stopped himself." Bee nodded grimly.
"Move now!" Gyūki urged.
Akira had once again approached Matatabi, pressing his hand against the beast. An invisible vortex began to swirl, and Matatabi's massive form started to dissolve, as if turning into liquid.
"Damn it, too late!" Killer Bee panicked. Even if he attacked now, it wouldn't be fast enough.
Then, a cold voice rang out.
"Shinra Tensei!"
Boom!
A deafening explosion erupted. The earth seemed to detonate as an immense force burst forth, obliterating the ground within a hundred-meter radius.
Matatabi's enormous body was flung into the air like a straw doll, hurtling over a thousand meters before crashing down.
Killer B dashed forward, catching Matatabi just before it hit the ground.
Amid the swirling dust, Akira emerged, wielding a flaming Gunbai. His expression darkened as a familiar figure stepped out of the haze—Nagato.
Nagato's sudden arrival was unexpected, an unforeseen variable in Akira's calculations.
Who would have thought that Nagato would ally himself with Kumogakure?
At the same time, Hiruzen Sarutobi and Raikage Ay, who had been locked in battle, glanced toward the commotion. Their expressions varied, but both were filled with surprise.
As Hiruzen briefly diverted his attention, a shadow flashed past with blinding speed.
"Not good!"
Hiruzen's instincts screamed danger, but it was too late. He barely managed to shift his position when a long scythe slashed across his chest, leaving a deep, bloody gash.
Blood gushed from the wound as Hiruzen staggered. Though he had avoided a fatal blow, the injury was severe.
"Hanzō!? It's you!" Hiruzen gasped, half-kneeling on the ground as he stared in shock at the figure a few meters away—Deva Path Hanzō.
Hanzō chuckled smugly. "Not bad, right? My Body Flicker Technique is still sharp."
"Weren't we clear that I'd handle Hiruzen? You old bastard!" Raikage Ay growled, clearly annoyed.
"Raikage, Uchiha Akira isn't someone to be taken lightly. Finishing this fight quickly is in everyone's best interest," Hanzō replied nonchalantly.
"Damn it, we've fallen into their trap!" Hiruzen's heart sank. Severely injured, he knew he couldn't stand against two powerful opponents.
"Gah!"
A blurred figure suddenly appeared before him—Raikage Ay. With his hand raised like a blade, he struck downward.
Clang!
Hiruzen barely managed to raise his adamantine staff to block the strike, but the impact sent him flying into a pile of rubble.
Panting heavily, Hiruzen knelt amidst the debris. His chest wound continued to bleed profusely, and he could feel his strength waning rapidly.
"Hokage-sama!"
"Hokage-sama!"
Several Konoha shinobi rushed to his side, forming a defensive perimeter around him with their blades drawn.
Meanwhile, Akira observed the scene from afar, frowning slightly. "What a hassle."
Nagato, cold and unyielding, stepped forward. "Don't even think about it."
"You think you can stop me? How amusing," Akira scoffed, preparing to activate Kamui.
Nagato raised his hand. "Banshō Ten'in!"
A powerful gravitational force pulled at Akira, forcing him to phase into intangibility to evade.
"Indeed, your ability is similar to that of Madara's," Nagato said, his gaze icy. "Or should I say… this is Madara's power."
"You seem to know a lot about Kamui," Akira replied, unfazed by the interruption.
"So it's called Kamui, huh?" Nagato mused before his Rinnegan fixed on Akira. An intense killing intent radiated from him.
Today, he had resolved to avenge 'Uchiha Madara.'
"This is the day Konoha meets its end!" Nagato declared coldly.
"With you? A puppet too blind to see he's been used?" Akira sneered.
"What do you mean?" Nagato's expression darkened.
Akira chuckled, taking his time to respond. "What do I mean? You'll just have to figure it out yourself."
Planting seeds of doubt in Nagato's mind would be far more advantageous than revealing everything outright. Let him unravel the truth and turn against his master in time.
