Chapter 136: Chapter 136: Hyūga Hizashi

Three Days Later.

The delegation from Kumogakure, led by Yagam, left Konoha, pulling along the lifeless body of Hyūga Hizashi.

Yagam's face was brimming with smug satisfaction.

This visit to Konoha had yielded gains far beyond his expectations.

During the negotiations, he had maintained a strong and assertive stance, albeit with some trepidation. To his surprise, the Third Hokage and the others had actually chosen to compromise.

What was initially thought to be an unsatisfactory amount of reparations ended up being halved, and all they had to offer in return was a non-aggression pact.

But agreements like these? Who truly takes them seriously?

Beyond the reparations, the most shocking concession was Konoha's willingness to hand over a member of the Hyūga clan as a scapegoat for their deceased ninja.

Hyūga Hizashi—the branch family head of the Hyūga clan—had taken his own life.

And now, they were even allowed to bring his body back to Kumogakure.

The strength of a branch family head aside, the body of a bloodline-limit ninja was an incredibly valuable resource.

This was the Byakugan!

Its rarity surpassed even that of the Sharingan.

Although the Byakugan of branch members self-destructed upon death, the body still held immense research value.

On top of that, this news alone would restore the prestige Kumogakure had lost during the war.

Financial backing from the feudal lord would increase, and clients who had lost faith in Kumogakure would begin hiring their ninja again.

It was no exaggeration to say that the benefits from this negotiation rivaled the spoils of a military victory!

As Yagam reflected on the events of the past few days, it almost felt like a dream.

Had the Third Hokage been replaced by the Fourth Raikage, Yagam was certain his actions would have cost him his life ten times over.

Beside him, Samui noticed the pleased expression on Yagam's face and asked curiously, "Yagam-sama, you seem quite pleased. Did the negotiations go well?"

Yagam nodded. "Indeed. The results were exceptionally fruitful. When I return, I might even receive commendation from Raikage-sama himself."

"And," he added, lowering his voice, "I obtained critical intelligence during our time in Konoha."

Samui's curiosity deepened. "What kind of intelligence, my lord?"

Yagam's tone grew serious. "Konoha is far weaker than it appears. Their internal conflicts are tearing them apart."

During his brief stay, the death of the Hyūga branch family head had revealed the intensity of the infighting among Konoha's upper echelon.

If things continued this way, Kumogakure might one day have the opportunity to rise again.

Looking at Samui and Darui, Yagam cautioned them, "You must remain united in the future. Never let division seep into our village.

"Even with strength like that of Uchiha Mirai, a divided village will only crumble."

"Yes, sir!"

...

Uchiha Clan Grounds.

In a secluded training ground, Mirai sat cross-legged on the ground, gazing intently at his palm.

Chakra swirled in his hand, spinning chaotically.

Rasengan.

A sky-blue sphere, nearly a meter in diameter, formed in his palm. Mirai raised his arm, channeling wind-nature chakra into the already-formed Rasengan.

The Rasengan began to grow unstable, violent wind blades forming around it.

Wind Release: Rasenshuriken!

Steadying his focus, Mirai adjusted the chakra flow.

Gradually, the Rasenshuriken stabilized. The turbulent energy became more restrained, its deadly edge sharpening.

Taking a deep breath, Mirai began shrinking the Rasenshuriken.

The clear blue of the technique darkened, turning pitch black. A foreboding aura of destruction spread from the jutsu.

Suddenly, the technique grew erratic, its smooth form warping.

Seeing this, Mirai immediately retracted his chakra, suppressing the unstable jutsu.

After a moment, the Rasengan dispersed in a flicker.

Looking at his now-numb right hand, Mirai activated his Mangekyō Sharingan.

Thanks to the abilities of his ocular technique, Sarutahiko-no-Mikoto, his mangled arm began to heal. Torn chakra pathways severed by the wind-nature chakra were mended in moments.

Failure did not deter him.

This advanced version of the Wind Release: Rasenshuriken—Spiralling Ring—was a pinnacle technique. Success wouldn't come easily.

But with his eyes granting him near-limitless attempts, mastering it was only a matter of time.

Just then, Uchiha Inaho appeared before him.

"Captain Mirai, Hyūga Hiashi has requested to see you—"

Mirai rose to his feet, a faint smile on his lips. "Let him in."

...

"Clan Leader Hiashi, what brings you here today?"

Hyūga Hiashi's voice was solemn. "Captain Mirai, we both know the answer. Let's skip the formalities."

"I'm here to form an alliance between the Hyūga and Uchiha clans."

Mirai's expression remained impassive. "Hiashi, I've said it before: Sarutobi Hiruzen isn't worth following. Had you come to me earlier, perhaps your brother wouldn't have died."

Hiashi clenched his fists tightly, his voice cold. "Captain, there's no need for mockery."

The thought of his brother, Hizashi, filled Hiashi with a murderous rage.

The lies spun by the Kumogakure shinobi had been riddled with inconsistencies. The wounds on their deceased ninja clearly pointed to blade injuries, not Gentle Fist.

Yet, to preserve peace, the Third Hokage had forced Hizashi to commit suicide—while claiming he'd done everything possible to protect him.

Recalling Hizashi's despairing expression in his final moments, Hiashi wished he could kill Sarutobi Hiruzen himself.

Mirai stepped forward, his tone resolute. "I will overthrow Sarutobi Hiruzen and his cronies. I'll expose their hypocrisy for all to see. But there is one condition."

Hiashi's gaze sharpened. "What condition?"

Mirai smiled faintly. "The Hyūga clan must bow to the Uchiha.

"We can ally, but the Uchiha will lead."

Hiashi frowned deeply. "The elders in my clan won't accept such terms."

The Hyūga had always regarded themselves as Konoha's nobility, equal in status to the Uchiha. To bow before them would be unthinkable to the clan's elders.

Mirai sneered. "Hiashi, relics of the past may cling to survival, but if they stand in the way of progress, they must be removed.

"Besides… don't you wish to abolish the Main and Branch family system?"

"I can help you."
