Chapter 134: Chapter 134: The Visit of the Kumogakure Delegation

The next morning.

After dressing, Mirai walked into the living room with Mikoto.

Konan and Yakumo were seated nearby, both sporting dark circles under their eyes, looking utterly drained.

"What's with you two? Didn't sleep well last night?"

Mirai's nonchalant tone made Konan and Yakumo exchange exasperated looks.

How could we possibly have slept well? After all, the racket you and Mikoto made last night would keep anyone awake!

Konan, in particular, found herself overwhelmed. This was her first time encountering such a situation, and she couldn't shake off the strange restlessness that clawed at her like an invisible little cat scratching incessantly at her heart.

"It seems we should seriously consider moving to a larger house," Mirai thought to himself.

With the growing number of people in the household, the current residence was clearly inadequate. After some consideration, he decided to move into Fugaku's estate—where the clan heads of the Uchiha traditionally resided. Situated in the heart of the Uchiha district, it was not only spacious but also luxuriously designed, far superior to his current home.

Having made up his mind, Mirai shared the plan with Mikoto.

Mikoto hesitated. "Mirai, Itachi and Sasuke both live there. If we move in, I…"

Given her current status, living under the same roof as her two sons would undoubtedly be uncomfortable for her.

Mirai chuckled lightly. "It's fine. We'll move in, and Itachi and Sasuke can come live here instead."

After a brief moment of thought, Mikoto nodded. "In that case, I have no objections."

Satisfied with her response, Mirai nodded approvingly. Over these past days, he'd shaped Mikoto into the kind of person he wanted. He believed it wouldn't be long before she fully submitted to his will.

After breakfast, Mirai instructed Mikoto and the others to start packing. Meanwhile, he headed to the Konoha Police Force headquarters.

Once in his office, Mirai summoned Uchiha Yatsushiro to report on recent events.

"Captain Mirai," Yatsushiro began gravely, "I've contacted the heads of the Nara, Akimichi, and Yamanaka clans. As you predicted, their loyalty to the Third Hokage isn't as firm as it appears.

"Nara Shikaku was particularly straightforward—he assured me they stand firmly with us. He even mentioned how fighting alongside you on the frontlines remains one of his most unforgettable experiences."

Hearing this, Mirai couldn't help but smile. Negotiating with someone as sharp as Shikaku was refreshingly straightforward. He must have long seen through the current political landscape, which was why he was so decisive in siding with them.

"Go on," Mirai said.

"Yes, sir!" Yatsushiro continued, his tone eager. "Aside from the Ino-Shika-Cho trio, many smaller clans in the village have been flocking to our side. The Police Force's doors have practically been trampled these past few days."

Mirai had anticipated this. Arresting Koharu and Homura's grandchildren, restructuring the Police Force, and publicly showcasing Shisui's Mangekyō Sharingan—these moves were all calculated to demonstrate the Uchiha clan's strength and the Hokage faction's frailty.

The results spoke for themselves.

Of course, the deeper catalyst was the unpopularity of Hiruzen Sarutobi and Danzō Shimura. Ever since they took power, they had systematically oppressed the ninja clans of Konoha, leaving only their own clans and a select few untouched.

It was no surprise, then, that during the original story's Chūnin Exams, no one rushed to rescue Hiruzen. Forget the Four Violet Flames Formation—if Konoha couldn't break a barrier maintained by four Chūnin, they didn't deserve their title as the strongest hidden village.

Sensing Mirai's good mood, Yatsushiro hesitated briefly before continuing.

"Captain, there's only one issue—the Hyūga clan…"

Mirai raised an eyebrow. "What about the Hyūga?"

"They outright rejected our proposal for an alliance," Yatsushiro said with a snort. "The Hyūga elders are stubborn traditionalists. They won't stand against the Third Hokage. Frankly, I think it's a waste of time trying to win them over."

Mirai chuckled. "No, we can't leave them out. The Hyūga are a cornerstone of Konoha, just like us. If we're to establish ourselves as the legitimate rulers, their support is essential.

"They refused because they haven't felt the weight of their predicament yet. Once they've suffered a little… they'll come crawling to us."

Intrigued, Yatsushiro asked, "Captain, do you have a plan?"

Mirai waved his hand dismissively. "Let's not rush. Is there any other news?"

Yatsushiro thought for a moment before replying, "Nothing major, but the Kumogakure delegation has arrived in the village. It seems they're here to negotiate war reparations."

A glint flashed in Mirai's eyes.

Opportunity knocks.

"Wow! So this is Konoha?"

A young girl with short, golden hair exclaimed as she strolled through the village streets. The bustling markets and vibrant scenery left her in awe.

Her skin was pale and luminous, her features finely sculpted. Though she appeared quite young, her figure was already striking, hinting at her future allure.

Walking beside her was a white-haired, dark-skinned boy, whose lethargic demeanor starkly contrasted her enthusiasm.

"Meh," the boy yawned, unimpressed.

The girl frowned. "Darui, can't you be a little less of a downer?"

Darui offered a sheepish grin. "Ah… sorry, Samui."

Samui sighed deeply, muttering to herself, "Calm down. Calm down."

At the front of their group, a towering, muscular man turned his stern gaze toward them.

"I brought you here to Konoha to broaden your horizons. Don't cause trouble."

"Yes, Yagam-sama!" Samui and Darui responded in unison.

Yagami frowned as he turned back to the road. The recent war had dealt Kumogakure a heavy blow. Their reputation had plummeted, funding from their daimyo had been slashed by a third, and even missions had grown scarce.

It had taken them over a year to scrape together enough money and scrolls for reparations. But as he took in the bustling streets of Konoha, a growing unease settled in his chest.

If Konoha finds the payment insufficient, what then?

Kumogakure couldn't afford another conflict with Konoha—not now.
