Naruto: From Konoha to One Piece

Chapter 177: Chapter 177: Frozen Resolve

With a snap, Violet slapped her hand onto the table, her expression tense.

"What's wrong, Violet? Did you see something?" Beside her sat Sugar, eating grapes, with Monet close by.

"No, nothing," Violet replied quickly. "The Young Master has already caught the pirates from the Whitebeard Pirates." Out of the corner of her eye, however, she glanced at Sugar.

'Stay calm; now isn't the right time. If I act against Sugar now, there will be no one to save the toys in Dressrosa.'

Taking a deep breath to suppress her impulse to attack, Violet's eyes flickered with complexity.

'Finally, I've found a chance! The Donquixote family must fall this time!'

Violet belonged to Dressrosa's original Riku royal family. When Doflamingo, newly appointed as a Warlord, used his Devil Fruit abilities to stage a massacre that framed King Riku as a murderous monarch, he took control of Dressrosa.

Violet, already a user of the Glare-Glare Fruit, approached Doflamingo after the coup. She offered herself as a bargaining chip to ensure the survival of the Riku family.

The Glare-Glare Fruit grants powerful auxiliary abilities, including an extensive 4,000-kilometer line of sight and the power to read minds. Unsurprisingly, Doflamingo valued it enough to spare her, refusing to eradicate the royal line.

On top of everything, she became Doflamingo's lover—a choice that made her motives unclear even to herself. Was she trying to tame a beast, or had she fallen victim to Stockholm Syndrome?

Whatever her reasons, Violet now saw the possibility of the Donquixote family's downfall. The fire of vengeance burned fiercely in her heart.

But she held herself back. Violet wasn't merely after revenge; she wanted to clear the Riku family's name. To achieve that, Sugar's power—the Hobby-Hobby fruit—was an obstacle she couldn't ignore.

While Sugar's combat ability was minimal, Monet, her sister, would be a more challenging foe. Although Monet's strength was average at best, her Snow-Snow fruit made her a force to be reckoned with. Regardless of skill, a Logia-type fruit user posed a threat to Violet, whose own powers were more auxiliary-type.

Violet brushed her hair back and turned to Monet. "Doffy will be back soon. I'm going to the bathroom."

She quickly left.

Monet gave her a curious look but didn't react further. She had absolute confidence in Doflamingo. With the whole Donquixote Family in action, even if Shin wasn't captured, she never entertained the possibility of failure.

The sound of "gulugulugulu" echoed as Monet turned to find the Donquixote family's communication snail.

As Doflamingo's de facto secretary, Monet handled most incoming intelligence before passing it along.

In the bathroom, Violet took out a concealed den-den mushi from her chest.

'If I can just relay Sugar's location to him, Dressrosa can be saved!'

Violet activated the power of the Glare-Glare fruit, searching for any den-den mushi nearby that might belong to Shin or other Donquixote members.

However, Shin had used the Dark-Dark fruit to pull every member of the Donquixote family into the dark dimension—den-den mushi included. In the end, Violet's effort yielded nothing.

"Damn, I'll have to tell him myself!" Gritting her teeth, Violet made up her mind.

She turned to open the bathroom door, only to be met with a freezing gust of wind that stiffened her limbs.

"Who are you trying to contact?"

The cold wind coalesced into human form, revealing Monet's icy stare.

"H-How did you find out?" Violet stammered in shock.

Monet merely looked at her coldly. "How is the Young Master?"

Violet bit back a retort, remaining silent. Monet raised her hand angrily, and frost began to creep up from Violet's feet toward her chest.

The chilling cold seeped into Violet's body, painfully sharp at first, then hot as her body lost temperature, as though scalding water were being poured over her skin.

"Freezing to death is an agonizing way to go," Monet said. "It starts with the cold, but once the body temperature drops, it feels like burning."

Violet's lips turned blue, her face pale as she closed her eyes in defiantly.

"Sister, you won't get anything out of her that way!"

Sugar's short legs carried her over, and she grinned as she addressed Monet. "Leave her to me."

Violet shuddered, not only from the cold but also from the knowledge that while Monet was loyal to the Donquixote family, she wasn't as ruthless.

Sugar, on the other hand, had no moral compass. She was like a child who would rip the wings off an insect or pour boiling water on an anthill just to see what would happen. Without any clear sense of right or wrong, Sugar was fully capable of horrific acts without guilt or remorse.

Monet took a step back to let Sugar approach.

Sugar's grin widened, her expression both sinister and disturbingly innocent.

Violet, as though seeing a demon, pursed her lips tightly. If her legs weren't frozen, she would have collapsed in terror.
