Naruto: Dual-Pupil Uchiha

Night, Konoha.

At this moment, the Hokage's office is still brightly lit, which clearly means that the respected Hokage is still busy!

Danzo has now arrived!

Sitting in the main seat is still Sarutobi Hiruzen, and behind him stands Sarutobi Eisuke, the head of the Sarutobi clan's Police Force division.

"Unexpected? Did Shisui escape?" Sarutobi Hiruzen frowned.

"No. He was severely injured and jumped off a cliff. We've been searching for his body, which is why it took this long!" Danzo answered coldly.

"Jumped off a cliff? Are you sure? Have you found his body?" Sarutobi Hiruzen continued to question, but he also sensed something unusual in the situation!

If they hadn't found the body, then Shisui might not truly be dead!

"We haven't found the body, but a severely injured Shisui jumping down like that, there's no chance he could have survived!" Danzo answered clearly and calmly. 

"I even sent people to search along the riverbank for ten miles, and three miles along the river, but his body must have been swept into a water current!"

Danzo was certain now:

Shisui was dead.

"You're so sure Shisui is dead?" Sarutobi Hiruzen frowned, feeling a sense of unease.

"Because not only did we witness Shisui jump off the cliff, but Itachi was also there. To confirm his death, Itachi even activated his Mangekyō Sharingan!" Danzo explained everything, emphasizing that Itachi had awakened his Mangekyō Sharingan.

Although the Uchiha clan lost one Shisui, they gained another Itachi!

Moreover, Itachi seems to be more rational.

Sarutobi Hiruzen remained calm, confident that the needle he planted deep in Itachi's heart would soon take effect!

"Hiruzen, what's your plan?" Danzo looked at Sarutobi Hiruzen with a hint of curiosity in his eyes.

He knew Danzo's thoughts, but some things were not for him to know yet.

Sarutobi Hiruzen took a puff from his pipe, his face disappearing in the smoke. "Danzo controls a major force in Konoha—the Root. The members of Root aren't afraid to die in battle. That's his trump card."

"Then why not remove him from his position?" Sarutobi Eisuke asked, confused.

"Remove him? Why would I do that? He's still useful to us!" Sarutobi Hiruzen paused for a moment, looking at Eisuke as if teaching him something. 

"Danzo may be arrogant, but he can take care of things we can't openly do. That way, we can stay in the light."

"For example, this time, it was about hunting down Shisui!"

Sarutobi Hiruzen understood Danzo's role very clearly—dealing with the things that needed to remain in the shadows.

"Aren't you afraid that Danzo will really dare to start a coup?" Sarutobi Eisuke continued to ask.

"Heh… He's just a man of the shadows. He wouldn't openly go against me. All I need to do is keep him under control!" Sarutobi Hiruzen chuckled, confident that everything was in his hands.

Danzo couldn't possibly think that Hiruzen didn't know about his actions and plans, right? 

Keeping Danzo around was only because he was useful for now—a weapon in his hands.

If Danzo had other ideas, as long as he made Danzo's actions public, Danzo would face an irreversible end. But the Hokage was just someone who had been deceived by Danzo. He was too kind and trusted him!

Sarutobi Hiruzen had already thought of every possible escape route.

"I see!" Sarutobi Eisuke nodded, growing more and more impressed with the Hokage.

At the Uchiha clan, inside the Fugaku household, it was almost midnight.

Uchiha Itachi slowly walked back. His gaze was vacant, his steps heavy.

He had walked all the way here, without using any ninjutsu.

Along the way, he had thought about a lot of things.

"Brother... you're back," Uchiha Sasuke had been waiting for Itachi. When he saw him, he jogged over, his face full of affection.

But Itachi avoided him, his eyes showing a hint of emotion as he said, "Sasuke, go rest. I have something to discuss with Father."

As he spoke, his gaze met Fugaku, who had just come out. His eyes were filled with endless sorrow.
