Chapter 7: Chapter 007: I Dreamed You Turned into Poop

Chapter 007: I Dreamed You Turned into Poop

My younger sister was merely speaking to Senju Wakama in a very gentle tone.

But Senju Wakama felt enveloped by an invisible pressure, as if an unseen force was gripping his heart, making his breathing erratic.

For a moment, the pressure this slender, bean sprout-like sister imposed on Senju Wakama was akin to facing their father, Senju Butsuma.

At that moment, Senju Wakama almost believed the things Jue had said.

"Third Brother, you've improved a lot recently. Your presence is almost undetectable, and your movements are quite unique."

My sister rested her chin on her hand, her blood-red eyes scanning Senju Wakama up and down.

Hearing this, cold sweat instantly drenched Senju Wakama's entire body.

Then, my sister's smiling voice turned icy. "...You came to test whether I would notice your almost undetectable presence, didn't you?"

As soon as she finished speaking.

"I'm sorry!"

Senju Wakama, mustering courage from who knows where, suddenly spread his arms and gave his sister a big hug.

The sudden embrace left my sister, Tsukishiro, silent.

Senju Wakama hugged his sister, his face filled with terror, and began babbling nonsense: "I'm sorry, I had a nightmare! I dreamed you turned into a pile of poop! It scared me to death... I'm so glad you're still alive!"

My sister: "..."

Senju Wakama hugged his sister, his eyes tightly shut where she couldn't see, his expression screaming, "I don't want to live anymore."

The night mist thickened.

Deep within the estate.

Senju Wakama improvised, transforming his fear of his sister into a fear of losing her.

Being discovered by his terrifying sister filled Senju Wakama with dread.

But he quickly used that dread to craft a plausible lie.

In the dead of night, sneaking into his sister's chambers, all because he feared losing her.

What a beautiful lie.

Senju Wakama was even moved to tears by his own story.

He kept muttering about his fear while tightly hugging his shorter sister.

Tsukishiro's body was nothing like that of a delicate child; she didn't even feel human.

Her body was as hard as the stones in the Naka River Forest.

The tighter Senju Wakama hugged, the more he felt the pain in his joints.

Compared to maintaining his "stealth" posture, hugging his sister was pure torture.

After what felt like an eternity, my sister raised her hand and patted Senju Wakama's back, as if comforting him.

Those slender little hands resting on his back emitted a faint, soft glow.

Unbeknownst to him, his sister was "healing" him in this position.

Just as Senju Wakama thought he had gotten away with it.

He heard his sister's voice from within his embrace.

"Third Brother, acting cute might be shameless, but it's effective, isn't it?"

Senju Wakama: "..."

What was she talking about?

He didn't quite understand, but her tone made it clear she didn't believe him!

Even this couldn't fool her!

But then my sister continued, "Fine, who told me you're my dear brother..."

As she spoke, she pushed Senju Wakama away and took his sweat-drenched hand, leading him into the room.

Senju Wakama stumbled as he followed his sister into the inner chamber.

The shadow clone my sister had created earlier vanished without a sound.

My sister opened a wardrobe in the corner, pulled out some boxes, and retrieved a small cloth bag emitting a sweet, food-like aroma, which she shoved into Senju Wakama's hands.

"I made these candies recently with the limited ingredients I had. Take them, Third Brother. Don't worry, they're not poisoned."

My sister stood in front of Senju Wakama, speaking softly, "Third Brother, you're still too weak. I don't want you going on missions with the adults, I don't want you fighting, I don't want you to die."

Hearing the first part, Senju Wakama forced a smile.

But after the second part, he couldn't help but say, "But if I don't go to the battlefield, how will I get stronger?"

In the darkness, my sister's eyes seemed to blend with the night. She chuckled softly, "Stronger? Aren't you stronger now than before? Was it because of the battlefield?"

Senju Wakama: "..."

Before he could respond, my sister continued, "On the battlefield, one mistake can separate you from your loved ones forever. At home, even if you make a mistake here, you'll still be alive. The pressure I give you is enough to make you stronger."

"I'm doing everything I can to keep the adults alive, to delay the moment when you and our brothers are forced to fight alongside them."

"If a family sends its children into the brutal battles of adults, it means that family is on the brink of destruction. And our Senju clan isn't at that point yet."

"If you die, others might just say, 'What a pity' or 'How unlucky,' but do you know what that would do to me?"

Such lengthy words, coming from a sister four years his junior, made Senju Wakama feel as though he wasn't facing his sister, but someone far older.

Her words also made Senju Wakama feel like he had done something incredibly stupid. Holding the small cloth bag, he lowered his head and said sincerely, "I'm sorry..."

"Go back, Third Brother. I'm not your enemy," my sister continued. "Keep training hard... One day, even if I try to stop you, I won't be able to, right? Until then, you need to learn to protect yourself."

...

Senju Wakama was warmly escorted out of the courtyard by his adorable and beautiful sister, even receiving a bag of mysterious candies she had made herself.

My sister called them "rock candy."

Candies that looked like ice cubes.

Under the moonlight, they sparkled with a crystalline glow.

As he left the courtyard, Senju Wakama didn't dare use his stealth technique, fearing his sister might notice something amiss.

He took a piece of rock candy from the bag and put it in his mouth.

Sweet...

He had never tasted such a strange candy before.

The sweetness could heal the soul.

Senju Wakama's heavy heart inexplicably lightened.

As he walked back, savoring the candy, he thought that maybe he should listen to his sister.

Her gift of candy must have been a hint that staying sweet-tongued would help him live longer.

After all, that's how she survived.

Whenever she wanted to use Second Brother Tobirama like a workhorse, she would act cute.

My sister said acting cute was shameless, but it worked.

So Senju Wakama decided to follow her example.

And it worked even though she knew he had ulterior motives, his "I was so worried about you" act had fooled her, and she even gave him a gift.

Jue was right; there was no need to confront my sister head-on. A mutually beneficial relationship was the best.
