My Hero Academia: Nightmare Mode

Chapter 42: A Sudden Proposal

The morning sunlight filtered through Kikidori's apartment as he lazily scrolled through his phone. It was peaceful for once—no villain attacks, no surprise visits from Toga, and no Bakugo yelling at him. For a brief moment, it felt like he could enjoy a normal day.

Then his phone buzzed. It was a notification from the Class 1-A group chat. Groaning, he opened it, already expecting chaos.

Ochako had sent a message:

*So… Deku and I are getting married!!!*

Kikidori blinked. Was this a joke? He stared at the message, unsure if he should laugh or be concerned. The chat erupted immediately.

Mina: *OMG WHAT?!?!?! YOU GUYS MOVED SO FAST!!!!*

Kaminari: *Bruh. One day? What is this, a speedrun of life?*

Bakugo: *WHAT THE HELL, DEKU?!*

Kikidori, as always, stayed silent for a moment before typing:

*Can I officiate the wedding?*

The chat went wild again.

Mina: *OMG YES, KIKIDORI AS THE PRIEST!*

Kaminari: *Bro, I'd pay to see that.*

Jiro: *It'd be hilarious, honestly.*

Bakugo: *ARE YOU ALL IDIOTS?!*

Ochako finally responded: *Guys, we're serious! Deku proposed last night, and I said yes!*

Kikidori raised an eyebrow. This couldn't be real, could it? He typed another message:

*Deku, blink twice if you're being held hostage.*

The group chat collectively lost it. Even Bakugo, for all his grumpiness, sent a rare "lol."

Toga, who had somehow made her way into Kikidori's apartment again (how did she keep doing that?), peeked over his shoulder. "They're getting married? That's so cute!"

Kikidori sighed. "Cute? It's insane. They've been dating for, what, a day?"

"Well," Toga said, sitting on the arm of the couch, "love makes people do crazy things. Isn't that right?" She leaned closer with her usual mischievous grin.

"Don't start," Kikidori muttered, putting his phone down.

But Toga wasn't done. "If they're getting married, does that mean we should get married too?"

Kikidori froze. "What? No. Absolutely not."

She giggled, poking his cheek. "You're no fun."

Before Kikidori could respond, his phone buzzed again. This time, it was Deku who had typed:

*We're planning to have the wedding this weekend! Everyone's invited!*

The group chat exploded once more.

Mina: *THIS WEEKEND?! HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO GET READY?!*

Kaminari: *I don't even have a suit!!*

Bakugo: *DEKU, I SWEAR TO GOD—*

Kikidori groaned and leaned back on the couch. He already knew this was going to be a disaster.

Toga, still perched beside him, clapped her hands. "Ooh, a wedding! I should crash it."

"You're not going anywhere near that wedding," Kikidori said firmly.

She pouted. "Aw, but I want to see you all dressed up."

Ignoring her, Kikidori typed one last message in the chat:

*I'll be there. Just don't ask me to give a speech.*

The replies flooded in, with Mina insisting he had to and Kaminari offering to help him write one. Kikidori sighed. His peaceful morning was officially over.
