Chapter 40: The Final Day
The halls of UA were bustling with energy, a mix of excitement and nostalgia filling the air. Today marked the last day for Class 1-A at UA High School. It had been three intense years of triumphs, failures, and countless battles. Now, they stood at the threshold of their futures as pro heroes.
The day began with a final assembly in the auditorium. The principal, Nezu, stood at the podium, his small form radiating pride. Beside him were Aizawa, Present Mic, Midnight, and other staff who had guided the students through their journey.
"You've all proven yourselves," Nezu began, his voice clear and full of emotion. "As individuals and as a class, you've grown into heroes who will shape the world. It's now time for you to step into the next chapter of your lives, as licensed pro heroes."
The room erupted in applause as the students cheered. Kikidori, sitting between Mina and Denki, clapped lightly, a rare but genuine smile on his face. Mina, as always, was bubbling with energy.
"Kikidori, can you believe it? We're actual heroes now!" she said, practically bouncing in her seat.
He nodded. "Yeah... it feels surreal."
After the speeches, the rankings were announced—something everyone had been eagerly waiting for. The rankings were based on their achievements, growth, and performance throughout their years at UA.
Nezu returned to the podium, holding a small list. "Now, for the moment you've all been waiting for... the top three heroes of Class 1-A."
The room went silent as he began.
"In third place, for his remarkable resilience, strategic mind, and ability to overcome his inner demons... Kikidori!"
A wave of applause filled the room. Kikidori stood up hesitantly, his mismatched eyes scanning the crowd. The Bakusquad cheered loudly, with Mina practically screaming, "That's my boy!"
Kikidori nodded at Nezu, his quiet confidence shining through.
"In second place," Nezu continued, "for his relentless drive and explosive power, second only to his temper... Katsuki Bakugo!"
Bakugo stood, his usual scowl replaced with a proud smirk. He glanced at Kikidori and gave a curt nod, a silent acknowledgment of their shared journey.
"And finally, in first place," Nezu announced, "for his unmatched courage, determination, and heart, the future Symbol of Peace... Izuku Midoriya!"
The applause was deafening as Deku stood, his face red with embarrassment but glowing with pride. He looked around at his classmates, his family in so many ways, and felt a swell of gratitude.
After the rankings, the students were given their hero licenses and certificates. It was official now—they were no longer students but fully recognized pro heroes.
Later that evening, Class 1-A gathered in their dorm's common room for one last celebration. They laughed, reminisced about their first day, their toughest battles, and all the ridiculous moments in between.
Kikidori found himself standing by the window, looking out at the UA grounds that had been his home.
Mina approached him, holding two cups of soda. She handed him one and grinned. "You've come a long way, Shadow Boy."
He chuckled softly. "Don't call me that."
She nudged him playfully. "Seriously, though. You're gonna be amazing out there. And remember, you've got all of us backing you up."
He nodded, his eyes reflecting a rare moment of peace. "Thanks, Mina."
As the night went on, the students laughed, cried, and made promises to stay in touch no matter where their hero careers took them.
The next morning, they left UA one last time, stepping out into the world as heroes ready to make their mark.
