My Baby Daddy Isn’t Human

Chapter 21: First Morning

Raelynn stirred in her sleep, waking from a deep, dreamless sleep A soft groan escaped her lips as her eyelids fluttered open. She blinked a few times, taking in her surroundings in the luxurious room.

"Oh… right," she mumbled, her voice barely above a whisper. She sat up and rubbed the back of her neck, her fingers brushed the soft pillow. "This isn't my apartment."

For a moment, she remained still, her mind catching up with reality. Elion's mansion. Her new home—for now, at least. She glanced around again, taking in the unfamiliar elegance of the room. Everything felt surreal, like she was still caught in some crazy dream. But then her stomach gave a soft growl, reminding her of the lavish dinner from the night before. Nope, this wasn't a dream. Her stomach was proof.

Then another realization struck her. She distinctly remembered falling asleep on the couch in the living room last night. Yet here she was, tucked neatly into the massive bed in her room.

Her brows furrowed as she swung her legs over the edge of the bed. "Did I… sleepwalk?" she muttered to herself, frowning. "No, that's not a thing I do." She rubbed her temples, trying to piece it together. "Or maybe Hera dragged me here. Ugh, could she even do that? Well, maybe. She's pretty strong for her size."

Still, the idea of Hera carrying her up and carrying her to bed seemed ridiculous. With a shake of her head, Raelynn decided not to dwell on it. "Maybe I got back here and just don't remember. Yeah, that makes sense," she mumbled, brushing off the thought. "Don't overthink it, Raelynn. You've got bigger things to worry about."

Just as she got up and stretched, shaking off the last bit of sleep, a soft knock came at the door. "Come in," she called, her voice still slightly hoarse from sleep.

The door opened, and, just as she suspected, Hera entered with her usual calm expression. "Good morning, Miss Moore," she greeted.

"Morning," Raelynn replied, suppressing a yawn as she ran a hand through her messy hair. "Let me guess—you're here to make sure I'm up and about?"

Hera offered a small smile. "Something like that. Breakfast is ready, and Mr. Vaelorian is waiting for you in the dining hall."

Raelynn's stomach gave another faint growl, and she sighed. "Alright, alright. I'll get ready." She started toward the bathroom but paused at the door, turning back to Hera. "And no, I still don't need your help in the shower."

Hera's eyes narrowed slightly, almost as if she were assessing Raelynn's determination. "Very well," she said with a slight nod. "I'll wait here."

"Yeah, you do that," Raelynn muttered, rolling her eyes as she disappeared into the bathroom.

The hot water from the shower was a wake-up call, getting rid of the sleepiness that was still there. As much as she hated admitting it, living here had its perks, and the luxurious bathroom was one of them. She let herself enjoy the moment before stepping out, wrapping herself in a plush towel.

When she emerged, Hera was waiting patiently by the vanity. Without a word, she gestured for Raelynn to sit, picking up a comb.

Raelynn hesitated, then sat down with a resigned sigh. "Fine, but just my hair. I'm not some porcelain doll, you know."

"I know," Hera replied, her tone as neutral as ever, though there was a faint glint of amusement in her eyes.

Hera ran her fingers through her hair, quickly working out the knots, Raelynn decided to let it slide. There was no point in making Hera's job harder than it already was. After all, she was just following orders.

Once her hair was neatly combed and styled, Hera stepped back and said, "Breakfast is ready, Miss Moore. Shall we?"

Raelynn nodded, standing and adjusting the loose, comfortable dress Hera had picked out for her. Together, they left the room and made their way to the dining hall.

The aroma of freshly brewed coffee and warm pastries greeted her as they entered the huge dining room. At the head of the long table sat Elion, looking relaxed as he glanced through a document in his hands.

Raelynn hesitated for a moment, then walked toward the table. She couldn't help but watch Elion, studying his sharp features and the effortless way he seemed to command attention, even while just reading.

Without looking up, Elion's deep voice broke the silence. "I can't eat in peace if you're going to keep staring at me like that."

Raelynn blinked, her cheeks flushing slightly. "I wasn't staring," she retorted, quickly pulling out a chair and sitting down.

Elion finally looked up, his dark eyes locking onto hers with a faint smirk. "Of course you weren't."

Raelynn huffed, turning her attention to the spread of food before her. The table was piled high with everything from fresh bread to a mix of fruits, eggs, and more. It was a bit much, honestly.

"This is a lot," she said, glancing at Hera, who was quietly arranging utensils.

"You're eating for two now," Hera reminded her gently.

"Right. Eating for two," Raelynn muttered, eyeing the food. She picked up a fork and began to eat, the flavors as delightful as the night before.

As she savored the meal, Elion's voice cut through the quiet. "After breakfast, we'll be visiting a doctor."

Raelynn paused, halfway through her bite, and looked up at him. "Didn't we just go to the doctor the other day?"

Elion's expression didn't waver. "This is my doctor—someone I trust."

Raelynn raised an eyebrow but decided not to argue. "Alright, then. Your doctor it is," she said, returning to her meal.

She ran a hand over her belly as she ate, lost in thought. The child she carried was important to Elion—so important that he'd go to these lengths to ensure everything was perfect. She wasn't sure how to feel, but a tiny part of her appreciated the care he was putting into it.
