Chapter 145: Time to Fix
Time to Fix
'Oh? The strongholds are finally being found.' Christopher tilted his head, but there was no surprise in his thoughts, just acceptance.
He knew that some, or maybe even all of the strongholds were going to be found at some point. The only thing was when, and as it turned out, it was sooner than he had initially thought.
Then again, in this realm where Fate was fractured, things rarely went according to plan.
That, and Christopher encouraged the conflict, the reason being the same as everything else. He wanted his men to experience hardship to grow further than their current levels.
The difference between facing monsters and sentient beings that could think and plan was staggering, and this would test not just their strength, but also their intelligence and adaptability.
In fact, if he could, he would have manipulated Fate to make sure his people encountered the forces of the clans for sure. But with how it was, that wasn't possible.
In the hidden realm where they were constantly being assaulted by the elements, dreadful creatures, and cunning entities, they had only two choices, get better or suffer.
'Still, Silver went crazy.' He chuckled. He'd be lying if he said he wasn't a little bit surprised by Silver killing an Apex being with medium effort. But he thought about his words and found that they made sense.
The only Apex-ranked being he'd fought since he entered the hidden realm was the Drake, and he beat it with minimum effort.
Similar to himself, he felt a faint barrier around its body that dampened his attacks, but compared to the barrier he had, it passed as a cheap shield at best.
The reasons for this varied, but Christopher attributed it to his unique authority as a Primordial Arbiter as well as his Duality Nexus Physique that seemed to be beyond distinctions.
He was especially heavy on the second one, as despite the fancy and elaborate explanation the system gave him, his Physique, like every other Physique, still served a rudimentary but effective purpose, and that was increasing his physical state beyond that of normal beings.
The fact that his Physique was the way it was meant many things, but in this case, it meant that conventional, and to some degree, even conceptual attacks didn't have much of an effect on him.
That's why Lenax, his subordinate who had the highest damage output out of anyone else within the hidden realm by a scary margin, only managed to make him feel a bit chilly.
But the dame couldn't be said to most if not all other Apex ranks as their Physiques and abilities still fell within the Realm of Reason... somewhat.
'I want to say that I'm surprised Silver had the guts to try that out, but then again, it's Silver, so there's not much to be surprised about.' He chuckled before his mind went to another matter.
'Speaking of Fate, this whole thing is starting to bug me.' Christopher sighed. He'd been trying to ignore it, but not being able to wield Fate effectively was starting to get on his nerves.
Which was dumb considering that he was currently training himself, and thus was restricting most of his cards, which should include Fate. But there was just something about the entire situation that irked him, and he was committed to finding out a way to.
And to some extent, he had found a way.
He thought about it for a bit and decided that he was just going to use the greatest tool he had at his disposal. His Dimension, as well as other things.
His Dimension already had its established tapestry of fate that ran and functioned with no issues. So what he intended to do was perform a selective overwrite of fate.
Basically, he would copy and paste the tapestry of fate from the Primordial Expanse to the hidden realm which would get rid of the unpredictable nature of the hidden realm.
However, it was selective as he wanted it to only affect him and his people, as he didn't want the various clans to be able to benefit from the sudden stability.
However, it wasn't so simple to do, even in theory it sounded complicated and difficult to accomplish. Let alone in practice. But the thing was, Christopher was the Primordial Arbiter.
His words quite literally held weight, and he could impose his will on reality if he wanted to, and that's what he wanted to do now.
Another factor to be taken into account was his Physique, which according to the system didn't have distinctions as it was beyond such things, and as a result, was beyond existence as well....to a degree.
Which added to the why Christopher's Transcendent barrier was as strong as it was, as most attacks were unleashed by beings who anchored their existences to, well, existence. So he was resistant to a lot of things.
If one paid close attention, they'd notice that Christopher's battles were battles he initiated. For instance, that white tiger he fought against at the bottom of the mountain, he knew it was there, and he willingly entered its territory to aggravate it.
Same thing with the Drake. They noticed each other at similar times, but he was the one who moved and expressed the will to fight, and so on.
That's because his Physique made him resistant to fate's attempts at controlling him. Remember, while he was wearing the Mask of the Dreamer, he hadn't activated the Faceless enchantment yet. So he was still subject to the nuances of fate, but those nuances hardly applied to him.
So why was it important that Christopher had the ability to resist Fate when enacting his plan? Well, if his theory about there being an entity that was intentionally scrambling fate within the hidden realm, then the chances were that they would try to resist his forced imposition of stability and try to stop him.
But with his Physique, resisting something like that should be light work.
Now there was the issue of how he would even accomplish all of this. Well, it was fairly simple. At least, he thought so.
So for a brief period, Christopher decided to forego his training and use his full power.
He cracked his knuckles and then his neck.
"Let's get this started." He mumbled as he stopped jogging.
Then he exhaled before stretching his hand forth, and he imposed his will.
An invisible force spread forth from him, but despite being invisible, the impact was palpable.
Space shuddered as reality sounded, yes, sounded like it was getting squeezed by something, and this wasn't limited to a small area either as the force stretched out for thousands of miles.
If one could see fate threads, they'd see that the fragmented and shattered fate of the hidden realm within this area suddenly stopped moving haphazardly.
Christopher exhaled then closed his eyes, and split his attention.
'System, transmit a replica of the Dimension's tapestry of fate.' Immediately he said that, his mind was suddenly hit with an intense wave of information that was vast and difficult to grasp.
He paused for a moment as he absorbed the info. In his mind, an exact copy of his Dimension's tapestry of fate formed, and with how large and complex it was, it was surprising that he hadn't collapsed.
After all, this was a tapestry that connected billions of beings, events, items, and so on, together. That much information entering someone's brain at once would normally cause it to explode.
But for Christopher, he saw it as a minor complication.
It was astounding, really, that he could process things with his mind so easily, without the influence of the Haven of the Enlightened.
Still, it took him roughly a minute to get a grip, and when he did, he exhaled.
Now came the difficult part.
Initially, he wanted to stretch out the fate threads from his Dimension directly and have them affect the ones in this place, but he decided that it would be a bad idea, mostly because he thought that would make it possible for the being influencing fate in this place to track his Dimension, which wouldn't be good. Not to mention that the being or entity would resist the imposition of stability which could cause some damage.
This was where his Physique came into play, as Christopher decided that he would use himself as a bridge. He would allow the fate of his Dimension to pass through him and then use his will to impose it on this realm.
That way, if the expected resistance happened, he'd be the one to take the brunt of the aggression, and he could sever the connection at any time.
Speaking of aggression, Christopher could already feel a certain push against his authority which he was using to lock down the reality around him. But it wasn't too strong, probably because whatever was causing this push didn't think too much about it.
'We'll see how long that will last.' He chuckled before mumbling.
"Time to piss off someone, or something, I guess."
