Unfortunately, before the Guitar Sorcerer's hands could even strum the strings, a red beam shot from behind and struck him.
"Disarm!"
It was George, who, after firing his electromagnetic cannon, had immediately circled behind the Guitar Sorcerer and cast a disarm spell, sending the magic device he was about to use flying out of his hands.
"So you were behind me! Prepare to die!"
The Guitar Sorcerer, furious at his guitar being forced out of his hands, quickly reacted by using his unique hair magic. His hair grew rapidly, like a waterfall, and shot toward George in an attempt to bind him.
He knew the sorcerer who had attacked him earlier was likely invisible, but that last strike had exposed their position.
"Hair Shed!"
However, against the rapidly advancing hair, George simply raised his wand and effortlessly muttered a hair-loss curse.
As the name suggested, the hair-loss curse was a spell that instantly caused hair to fall out. George often referred to it as the "King of Baldness Curse."
Like other prank spells, such as the Dance Curse, Armpit Curse, and the Snot Curse, this spell was harmless and more of a joke than an actual combat tool.
But at that moment, it was perfectly timed.
Indeed, the wild hair came to a sudden halt after being hit by the hair-loss curse, and it all drooped to the ground. The Guitar Sorcerer's once long, flowing hair was now gone, leaving only a smooth, shiny scalp.
"My... my hair! How could such a cruel magic exist in this world?!"
For the Guitar Sorcerer, who treated his hair as if it were his life, touching his now-bald head felt like his entire world had collapsed.
"Aaahhh!!!"
Before the Guitar Sorcerer could recover from the shock of losing his hair, he was suddenly surrounded by high-voltage electricity, stunning him into unconsciousness.
"Sleep well! Petrify them all!"
After revealing himself, George cast two more spells on the Guitar Sorcerer, then placed him in a box and sent him to the Changing Room space.
He was intrigued by the magic that controlled others through music, turning them into puppets for combat. He hadn't seen anything like it in the Fairy Tail library before.
"George, you're here! This is such a relief!"
Seeing George appear, Lucy finally let out a large sigh of relief.
After the Ghost Commander's attack, all of the Fairy Tail mages trusted George immensely, and Lucy was no exception.
"Restoration complete."
George threw Lucy a restoration spell, repairing her clothes that were nearly torn apart from the battle, and asked, "What's going on here? Where are Erza and the others?"
"Erza was sealed inside a card by her former companions. Now..."
Lucy, holding her reddened backside from the water whip's sting, explained everything that had happened.
A few days ago, they had arrived at the resort with the hotel voucher from Rocky and met Juvia, one of the former Four Elements of the Ghost Guild.
At first, everything was great, and they were having a lot of fun.
But last night, several mages suddenly attacked them. Due to the special nature of their magic, they were caught off guard and fell victim to the spells. Erza and Happy were kidnapped.
After they managed to escape, they chased the mages and arrived at the island, knocked out the guards, and entered the high tower.
It was then that they met Erza, who had already freed herself.
From Erza, they learned that she had once been a slave during the tower's construction. She and Gerard, along with their friends, had rebelled and overthrown the dark mage who enslaved them.
Just when they were preparing to leave, Gerard, for reasons unknown, had a complete change of heart. He held all of his companions' lives hostage, exiled Erza, and deceived the rest into believing she had betrayed them.
He then manipulated his friends into continuing the construction of the tower to create a "free paradise."
The mages who had attacked them last night were Erza's former companions from her time as a slave. Erza had intentionally allowed herself to be captured so she could return to the island and uncover Gerard's true intentions.
When those former companions learned the truth, one of them, named "Xu," decided to protect Erza from Gerard's harm. Taking advantage of Erza's unguarded moment, he sealed her away with his playing cards, intending to defeat Gerard alone.
As a result, the group split up. Xu took Erza to the top floor to confront Gerard in a duel, while Gray and another of Erza's childhood friends, Simon, chased after them to stop him. Lucy and Juvia went to find Natsu, who had initially charged into the tower to rescue Happy.
"It seems things are more complicated than I thought. Let's go find Natsu first, then we can meet up with Erza and the others and leave this place together."
George had originally planned to use the Phantom Shift spell to send Lucy and Juvia out of the tower first. However, given the strange circumstances, with the Paradise Tower holding two S-rank enemies and Gerard—whose true strength remained unknown—he decided it was better to gather everyone first before leaving.
Having defeated the Guitar Sorcerer, he had already exposed himself to Gerard's watchful eye. Having an extra ally would provide more support in case they encountered enemies.
Juvia, being an S-rank mage, could be a significant help in battle. Lucy, though not particularly powerful herself, had some useful star spirits at her disposal. She mentioned a Pisces star spirit, Aquarius, whose strength was comparable to most S-rank mages, though she had a bad temper and attacked indiscriminately. Lucy would only summon her in life-or-death situations.
"Tracking Footprints—Natsu."
Changing the target of his tracking spell to Natsu, George led Lucy and Juvia onward.
The Paradise Tower was a hundred meters tall and had dozens of floors, all interconnected in a labyrinthine way. Without the tracking spell, finding a specific person would have been nearly impossible.
"How did I lose? Even Fairy Tail's restoration mage is here now. This is getting more and more interesting."
At the top of the tower, Gerard sat on his throne, resting his chin on one hand while flicking the chess piece representing the Guitar Sorcerer off the board.
For him, the outcome of the battle below wasn't important.
As a figure who had split half of his power to become a thought-body and one of the Ten Holy Mages of the Kingdom, he believed he could easily defeat any Fairy Tail mage below.
Even if there was a cat with S-rank strength involved, the result would still be the same.
The only reason he hadn't acted yet was because he was bored. While waiting for the magic spirit energy to fully assist him in completing the R System, he decided to play a game to pass the time.
"This is still too slow!"
With about fifteen minutes left until the magic spirit energy attack would land, George grabbed Lucy with one hand and Juvia with the other, rushing out of the tower. They flew upward in a straight line.
After confirming the floor where Natsu was located, George used an explosive spell to blast a hole in the tower and charged inside.
"What is this thing?"
Upon entering the tower, they were confronted by a bizarre creature.
It had the strong body of a human but the head of an owl. Even more strangely, the owl's head sported short, cherry-red hair, which bore a striking resemblance to Natsu's hair.
What puzzled George the most, however, was that the tracking spell had indicated this odd creature as his final target.
