Chapter 119: Negotiations

Soft murmurs spread through the hall, but King T'Chaka remained silent, staring at Liam before his daughter, Shuri, started speaking.

"Pfft. A sorcerer? Please. Let me guess, you also read minds and tell the future?" she said, barely keeping it together.

King T'Chaka raised his hand, but being young, Shuri ignored it and continued.

"If what you do is 'sorcery,' then according to where you come from, our entire country is magic," she continued, laughing. "Magic and sorcery are just science we haven't explained yet."

Before she could continue mocking Liam any further, T'Challa grabbed his sister's shoulder firmly and whispered a warning—one that Liam only managed to hear because of his enhanced senses. The warning was simple: behave yourself or return to your room.

Once she quieted down, the room fell into silence. Everyone looked at Liam and King T'Chaka, waiting for a response from either of them.

Seconds passed slowly. The silence grew longer and heavier, tension building between everyone present. Liam and King T'Chaka remained locked in a silent standoff, each waiting for the other to react.

A few more moments passed before King T'Chaka took the lead. He had evaluated Liam's character and noted that he did not seem angry or flustered by his daughter's words. After doing so, he wanted to steer the conversation in the direction he desired.

"You will have to forgive my daughter. She is young—curious, yet skeptical. A trait shared by many Wakandans," he spoke slowly, keeping his gaze on Liam. "I have heard many men claiming to use sorcery. Most were either liars or fools. Which are you?"

Liam remained calm. He knew these were tests.

'Not only is he testing me, but he's also gathering as much information as possible at the same time. He truly deserves to be a king.'

"A liar or a fool? I would say neither," Liam responded seriously. "Whether I spoke the truth or not, I'm convinced you already know the answer yourself."

"It's not every day that you see someone walk through a portal and disappear, is it?" he pressed, knowing that the Kimoyo beads had recorded the event and relayed it to the king. After all, that was the only reason he had been allowed an audience in the first place.

Silence fell over the throne room once again as everyone awaited King T'Chaka's response. Instead of pushing Liam further to prove himself, the king accepted his answer with a nod and moved on to a more pressing matter.

"Even if you speak the truth," he said, "what do you and your organization have to do with Wakanda?"

Liam smiled, having prepared for this very question beforehand.

"What do we have to do with Wakanda?" Liam began. "That's a good question."

He took a step forward, immediately putting the Dora Milaje on high alert.

"I didn't come here to take from Wakanda," Liam continued. "I came to warn you of a danger and propose a partnership in response—one that would benefit both of us."

"A warning of danger?" King T'Chaka questioned sternly.

"Yes, you heard me right," Liam said, raising his palm in front of him. "To give you the basics..."

He sent energy through his palm. Slowly, a yellow light began to glow above his hand.

The Dora Milaje raised their spears in an instant, murmurs spreading through the room. King T'Chaka, however, remained calm. With a simple gesture, he signaled for them to stand down.

The Dora Milaje kept their spears raised towards Liam but did not advance.

Meanwhile, the yellow light expanded, forming a sphere that slowly grew in size. Within it, patterns that looked like the continents of the Earth appeared.

"This," Liam continued, "is Earth. Now, imagine it surrounded by a sphere of glass, King T'Chaka."

Another yellow barrier formed around the projection of Earth.

"This glass sphere is what protects us from demons and other creatures that wish to destroy our world. It has existed far longer than Wakanda, or any other kingdom in history as a matter of fact."

He scanned the room, taking in the mixture of skeptical and intrigued expressions before continuing.

"But now, the glass casing has started to crack, allowing these creatures from other worlds to slip through." He illustrated this by forming spiderweb-like cracks across the barrier.

"These cracks worsen with each passing day, and soon, there will be no sphere left at all," Liam warned, shattering the barrier entirely with a flick of his finger.

"And when that happens..." He didn't finish his sentence—instead, his projection changed.

One by one, countries began to crumble and fall. Then, the entire Earth shattered into tiny pieces.

Silence settled over the hall once more.

Most of those present understood what Liam was implying. If what he said was true, the consequences would be catastrophic. However, skepticism remained. After all, it wasn't every day that someone walked in and warned of the world's end.

"You speak of demons and creatures from another world," King T'Chaka said, his tone still doubtful. "Why would we believe you, when Wakanda has faced no such things before?"

"Currently, these creatures are being dealt with in secret," Liam responded. "But strange phenomena have already begun appearing across the world showing our lack of control. Most are minor, but some have already caused devastation. Take the disaster in Greece, for example."

King T'Chaka nodded slightly, though he was not yet fully convinced. Wakandan investigation teams had indeed looked into the anomalies in Greece. They had noted irregularities, but was one incident enough to justify such a claim? He wasn't so sure.

"Don't worry, I anticipated that this would be difficult to accept," Liam said with a small smile, raising a few eyebrows among the royal advisers. "If all of you could please keep a safe distance, I can provide a perfect example."

He made eye contact with the key advisors standing at the sides, making sure they backed away.

"If you could all maintain a safe distance, I can provide you with a perfect example."

A white rift appeared in front of him. Without hesitation, Liam stepped through and disappeared, leaving the entire room in shock.

Some of the Dora Milaje cautiously approached the rift—until a deep roar echoed from the other side, followed by unrecognizable sounds.

A large creature was send flying against the back wall of the throne room. As the beast stood up, it showed its large rock-like body, glowing with magma-filled cracks as it let out another loud roar.
