Chapter 413: Fight
"Thank you, Mr. Zane."
Jasper's entire body radiated with dazzling brilliance as he uncharacteristically offered Zane a sincere expression of gratitude.
Then, wrapped in a whirlwind of light and fiery fragments, he shot swiftly toward Venom, whose body dripped with black ichor.
"It has been a while, hasn't it, Phoenix Force..."
Venom glanced at Zane across the battlefield, speaking softly.
From his body emerged surging streams of black liquid, which coalesced into his arm and formed a massive black fist.
With immense force, he hammered it toward the glowing Jasper, who was charging straight at him.
Boom!
A fierce shockwave erupted at the moment of their collision.
In an instant, what remained of the half-destroyed Sphinx Pyramid disintegrated into dust and vanished completely.
...
The potent energy wave, still unsatisfied, continued to ripple outward.
Zane raised his eyelids slightly, casting a glance at the expanding wave of energy.
In that moment, it dissipated entirely, leaving no trace behind.
Soon after, Roma's palm shimmered as she conjured a transparent glass cube that grew larger and enveloped the battling figures of Jasper and Venom.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Waves of catastrophic energy crashed against the cube's surface, yet they produced no sound.
They caused only faint ripples, which were swiftly absorbed by the black membrane coating the cube and reflected back, smoothing out any distortion.
...
"A cosmic spacetime membrane, is it?"
"No wonder it's more stable than this secondhand barrier I made using the ancient pyramid."
Covered in rolling black smoke, Venom continued exchanging blinding strikes with Jasper, who mirrored his formidable stature.
At the same time, his sinister eyes darted toward Zane and the others, his voice dripping with malice as he muttered quietly:
"A group of genuine gods, I see..."
"Jasper, not only have you delivered me a perfect new body, but you've also brought such high-quality 'vessels' along!"
"To thank you properly..."
Boom!
As Venom's eerie voice trailed off, a deafening explosion rang out.
"For your kind invitation and generous offering,"
"Jasper, allow me to show you everything the *Progenitor of Venom* has to offer!"
Venom's eyes narrowed into slits, shooting a venomous glare that pierced into Jasper's pupils.
Boom!
In the next moment, under Jasper's horrified gaze, Venom's entire body erupted with black smoke.
He swiftly transformed into a massive, muscle-bound dark colossus.
Immediately, he clasped his hands together and unleashed a swift, devastating punch.
It struck Jasper's body with unavoidable force.
With a thud, the massive figure crashed onto the barrier-covered floor, finally causing the sturdy barrier to emit a resonant boom.
"A blackened version of the Hulk?"
Zane observed the scene through the barrier and questioned aloud, his tone tinged with surprise.
"To be precise, it's Sckaar, the Hulk's berserk mutation triggered by overwhelming rage," Roma interjected, flipping through the golden tome she had used to collect numerous young women moments earlier. She casually explained, "This particular version is the unique result of Venom parasitizing the Hulk in a distinct alternate dimension universe."
Her fingers traced the pages as she continued, "It seems that this Progenitor of Venom from Ultimate Universe 1610 can share the abilities of hosts parasitized by Venoms from other dimensional universes."
"Is that so..."
"But why would it rely on abilities that it is clearly not adept at using? Could it be that it fears the current host's natural abilities aren't sufficient to overpower Jasper, its original body?"
Zane's mind raced with questions as he analyzed the battle unfolding before him. From their clash, it was evident that the black Venom held the upper hand.
"So, why is Venom so desperate to defeat Jasper? This behavior clearly defies logic," Zane murmured to himself. Jasper's current form, as Zane had already pointed out, would only last for half an hour. If Venom feared Zane and the others, wouldn't it make more sense to conserve energy, let Jasper's form dissipate, and then deal with them in peak condition?
Meanwhile, Venom, overhearing Roma's explanation, couldn't resist flicking out its salacious tongue, chuckling lecherously. "Such a clever girl, knowing so much... and yet, I've never encountered you in any other universe."
Roma shot Venom a disdainful look, her expression screaming, "Get lost. I have zero interest in knowing you."
Internally, she seethed:
'I've only ever left the Starcastle twice in the past thousand years—once in the distant past and now. Besides, the only time I leave the castle is when alternate versions of myself in other universes even appear. So, where would a freak like you have met me?'
Swoosh!
"Heh heh heh... Since you're so knowledgeable about events in other universes, let me show you a freshly acquired ability," Venom taunted with a sly grin before suddenly vanishing into thin air.
"Invisibility?" Rocket, now reverted to his small raccoon form, chimed in, joining the group's discussion.
"No, it's more than simple invisibility," Roma clarified, her gaze serious. "It's a spatial-dimensional alteration ability."
"An alpha-level mutant's power, belonging to Blink," she explained further. "Unlike temporal-spatial teleportation, which simultaneously affects both dimensions, Blink's unique ability exclusively manipulates the spatial dimension."
"This makes the concealment effect far more thorough," Roma confirmed, with Roma adding, "If I recall correctly, this universe's Blink was inside that cage earlier... but unfortunately, she's already dead."
Hearing this, Zane couldn't help but feel a pang of regret. He hadn't paid much attention to who was trapped in the cage earlier.
