Marvel: DNF Invades

Chapter 15: Chapter 15

Chapter 15: Harvest!

Standing in front of his bed, Luke wanted to throw his arms up and shout, "The days of relying on free loot are over!"

For the past year, he'd been hoarding the free magic boxes the system gave out weekly. It took two and a half months of grinding just to save enough for a ten-pull.

Thinking back, it was downright depressing. He might've even shed a tear.

So, after a whole second of deep contemplation, Luke made a decision—he was spending $15,000 as a little "investment" in his future.

"It's gotta be Heart's Delight 3!"

At $50 per box, $15,000 got him 300 magic boxes.

Thirty full ten-pulls.

Pure bliss.

Luke could barely stop himself from shaking in excitement.

Then—BOOM!

His pupils shrank as 300 magic boxes materialized out of thin air, instantly filling his entire room before collapsing all at once—burying him underneath.

Flat on the floor, covered in dust, he barely had time to register the sound of hurried footsteps pounding up the stairs.

Ross popped his head out from the pile of boxes, eyes wide. "Someone's eavesdropping outside! It's that woman! Kill her! Kill her!!"

From the hallway, his adoptive mother Karen called out in concern. "Luke? Are you okay?"

"I—I'm fine!" Luke scrambled to his feet, heart pounding. "Just... exercising! Hey—ha!"

How embarrassing…

The mountain of boxes in front of him stood over two meters high, practically touching the ceiling.

Karen's voice carried a note of amusement. "Be careful not to fall."

"Got it," Luke replied, barely managing to sound normal.

He waited until Karen went back downstairs before turning to face his glorious collection. His fingers twitched. Time to get started.

First Ten-Pull:

[Data Chip x1]

[Skill Book: Diving Belly Punch x1]

[Colorless Small Crystal Block x20]

[Resurrection Coin x1]

[Celia's Handmade Cake x1]

[Magic Stone x1]

[Magic Stone x1]

[Colorless Small Crystal Block x18]

[Skill Book: Back Throw x1]

[Data Chip x1]

"Double yellow! Two skill books right off the bat?! Not bad! A great start!"

Two skill books in a single pull—unprecedented.

Luke grinned.

Diving Belly Punch. A technique from the Blue Fist Saint in DNF. It delivered a lightning-fast punch straight to the enemy's abdomen while diving forward.

Not only did it stun enemies, but it also had a chance of making them dizzy.

Through past fights, Luke had realized a weakness in his Inch Punch—it wasn't great for frontal attacks. The Inch Punch was fast, accurate, and brutal, but it was most effective at close range.

The Diving Belly Punch perfectly filled that gap, giving him a solid medium-range attack.

Clap! He absorbed the skill book.

A warm current surged through his body, and his proficiency jumped straight to mastery.

Just like that, the Diving Belly Punch became an instinct to him.

Next up—Back Throw.

A grappling move?

Back Throw was a classic judo technique. In DNF, judokas specialized in grappling, wrestling, and close combat.

In real life, judo was a Japanese martial art that evolved from Jujutsu, focusing on "the gentle way"—taking down opponents with technique rather than brute force.

Luke stared at the book.

"...If I use this on a woman, I'll get sued for harassment.

"...If I use this on a guy…"

A shiver ran down his spine.

Still, he clapped his hands and learned it anyway. Who knew? It might come in handy someday.

Second Ten-Pull:

[Celia's Special Cool Drink x1]

[Magic Stone x2]

[Resurrection Coin x1]

[Skill Book: Round Dance Stick x1]

...

Luke went all in.

300 magic boxes.

System messages exploded across his vision.

By the time he was done, nineteen skill books lay in front of him.

His bed was buried under piles of rewards—ranging from Burg Nina's secret burger recipe to Celia's lucky potion.

But the real treasure? The skills.

Luke flipped through his new abilities, his grin growing wider by the second.

In the end, he couldn't hold it in—he jumped onto the bed, landed at the foot, and thrust a fist toward the ceiling.

"That's right! All of this is the choice of Steins;Gate… Ohhahahahaha…"

An absolute jackpot.

With these skills, his strength was on a whole new level.

Before today, at best, he could match up with street-level heroes like Daredevil or Iron Fist.

Now?

Now, he could compete with Marvel's third-tier heroes—Black Widow, Hawkeye, that level.

And… among those nineteen skill books… there was one in particular.

If he could truly master it…

"That would push me into second-tier territory."

At the very least, he wouldn't lose to Tony Stark wearing the Mark V armor.

His blood was on fire.

"Be patient. Step by step…" He took a deep breath.

Of the nineteen skill books, nine focused on hand-to-hand combat.

Diving Belly Punch (already learned)

Back Throw (already learned)

Lower Kick (Sanda technique)

Iron Bones (defensive skill)

Clone (Qigong Master skill)

Dragon Teeth (Battle Mage skill)

Round Dance Stick (Battle Mage skill)

Brick Attack (Street Fighter skill)

Lower Kick was a common Sanda move, used to sweep an opponent's legs.

Clap! He absorbed the skill.

Luke threw a kick, and it whistled through the air.

"Not bad. With this, plus Inch Punch and Diving Belly Punch, I'm almost a complete fighter."

Next—Iron Bones.

A classic defensive skill.

Luke absorbed it, then tested it by punching himself.

…It was disappointing.

He wasn't bulletproof. He wasn't even blade-proof.

But…

His body could now absorb punches and kicks without pain, while his opponent felt like they'd hit a steel plate.

Finally—Clone.

Unlike the DNF version, his clone could move.

It looked identical to him.

It even mimicked his mannerisms—just couldn't talk.

"Oh, this is huge."

Suddenly, a bold new strategy popped into his head…

But that was for later.

Right now, one thing was clear—

Luke had leveled up.

Big time.
