Chapter 300: Chapter 300: Sci-Fi Masterpiece

"The world in The Matrix is all presented in a deep green to make it seem unreal, unnatural, yet not too obvious."

At the press conference after the premiere, perhaps the world depicted in the film was so strange that the entertainment reporters rarely focused their questions on the film itself. Duke gave some technical explanations, "Colors can trigger many emotions. Deep green not only makes the skin look pale and lifeless, but it also reminds people of digital rain, like deep green digital rain flowing into every object in the Matrix world."

Just as Duke finished speaking, a reporter asked, "According to the time setting in the film, it's a future era. Why does human technology appear so dilapidated and backward?"

"In the future world ruled by the Matrix, our civilization has been destroyed by machines."

At this point, Duke smiled at the hundreds of reporters in the hall and continued, "Some technologies have survived, but they can only be salvaged from the ruins of the old world. We can't produce brand new computers or other hardware, so humans have no choice but to make the most of what's left."

He pointed to the hovercraft poster behind him. "They connect cables together and use mismatched monitors, keyboards, and CPUs to piece together computers, making them look like the internal organs of a computer scattered everywhere. This is in stark contrast to the orderly machine world. This is the world that Agent Smith despises, where, to him, the human world is chaotic, messy, and unbearable."

"But under such conditions, this is all humans can do. It's an imperfect world."

Another reporter stood up, "Director Rosenberg, how did you approach creating the unique world and scenes in the film?"

"Computers are no longer a novel thing for us today. The internet, as a brand-new world space, has started to influence human society both philosophically and aesthetically, giving rise to cyberpunk culture."

Duke thought for a moment before organizing his words, "Personally, I believe the most significant impact the internet has on human society is that, in terms of time and space, it has flattened the world into a single plane in a virtual way. It's like America, where diverse cultures from around the world mix together on the internet. The Matrix presents just that."

After pausing slightly, he continued, "Western hard sci-fi elements, a fresh interpretation of Eastern metaphysics, future weapons, and the oldest combat method—physical martial arts. I thought they should all blend together in the same movie, and that's how this film came to be."

The conversation then shifted to the most impressive scene in the film—the enhanced bullet-time explosion scene!

"Given today's technical environment, this required extensive preparation. Our original plan for the scene was one thing, but the final result was something entirely different."

Duke briefly touched on this before directing the conversation to the 360-degree explosion scene. "As you saw in the film, when Neo throws the trench coat bomb and the police cars flip over, people flying through the air—everything had to be precisely calculated so that, at a particular moment, at a specific camera angle, an actor would be flying through the frame. The difficulty of designing this scene was unprecedented."

"So what was your intention in creating this shot?" a reporter asked.

Without hesitation, Duke replied, "I wanted the audience to feel what it's like to be blasted away. I just wanted to design a scene that would leave people dumbfounded in their seats. I think it worked pretty well."

The film not only excited the audience but also these perceptive entertainment reporters, who sensed that a major hit—perhaps a classic—was on the way. After answering a few more questions, Duke stepped aside and handed over the interview table to the main cast, including Keanu Reeves, Charlize Theron, and Hugo Weaving.

Back in the lounge, Duke saw Irene Lauder preparing to leave and asked, "Wait a moment, we can leave together."

Irene winked playfully at him, "You're one of tonight's stars. There's sure to be a swarm of paparazzi outside, and I don't want to be turned into your rumored girlfriend."

She took a step forward, lightly squeezing his arm. "Amazing movie!"

"I'll have someone escort you," Duke waved to Tina Fey on the other side.

Irene Lauder nodded and stood quietly beside Duke. It was a trip well worth it for her to witness such an impressive film. She was genuinely happy for her friend. After the previous media frenzy, Duke had undoubtedly been under enormous pressure. But as long as the film succeeded, the pressure would dissipate.

Was The Matrix a success?

Even though Irene was past the age of being dazzled by coolness and action, she still found the film incredibly impressive. She knew her tastes were more mainstream, so...

"What are you thinking about?"

Hearing Duke's question, Irene smiled. "Nothing, I'm leaving. I'll be back in New York tomorrow, so no need for goodbyes."

"Safe travels."

Irene Lauder wasn't the only one leaving the theater. A large crowd of moviegoers also rushed out, eager to share their excitement after witnessing such a brilliant film. Many of these young people turned to the internet as their primary platform for sharing their thoughts.

Norman walked home alone, while Huggins didn't join him. The guy had gone straight to a nearby cinema after the premiere to catch the midnight screening.

Upon arriving home, Norman immediately sat down at his computer. As it booted up, he cursed the slow startup of the Microsoft system. Thankfully, it didn't take long before he was logged into his favorite explosion-maniac chatroom.

It was bustling there, with many people who had attended the premiere hanging out.

"Duke has built an astonishing sci-fi world, the concepts and scene designs are just awesome. Women will have an orgasm watching it, and men will ejaculate..."

From the messages flooding in, Norman could tell that the participants were still in an excited state, which was completely normal. If this wasn't his second time watching, he probably wouldn't be much different.

"I was totally blown away by Charlize Theron and Keanu Reeves' looks!"

Seeing this, Norman couldn't resist sending his own message.

"Now that the internet is just starting to rise, Duke's setting and ideas about the internet are already a hundred years ahead of their time. He's simply amazing—an unbelievable 'real world,' a mind-blowing concept that'll reshape everything! Does the spoon really exist? Are you half-awake? There's no denying that the logic is pure genius. It's truly a sci-fi masterpiece!"

"Yes!" someone else replied, "The Matrix is definitely a sci-fi masterpiece, especially the explosions and fight scenes. I think it's going to redefine Hollywood's action genre. We all call Duke the explosion maniac, and he totally lives up to that title, especially with the explosions in The Matrix—he's surpassed himself!"

"Yeah, that explosion... sorry, I can't find the right words to describe it."

Another person chimed in, "This film is so cool, I think watching it ten times wouldn't be enough!"

"Duke's imagination is just mind-blowing."

The chatroom was buzzing with activity. Many people who hadn't seen the film were being piqued by the excitement.

"I've decided, I'm going out now to catch the midnight show!"

"Me too!"

"Me three..."

Norman briefly left the chatroom and went to another website, which had quickly become one of the most popular movie review platforms. He had been paying attention to it for a while and had the relevant account and qualifications. On IMDb's front page, he easily found The Matrix, clicked on it, and immediately gave it a perfect 10.

With three test screenings and the premiere tonight, a significant number of people had seen the film, and those who attended these screenings were undoubtedly true movie fans. Many had already rated the film—115 users, with an average rating of 9.75!

There were also some comments left.

"The settings and plot that Duke Rosenberg created in The Matrix were amazing. Actually, I've had similar thoughts myself—maybe everything around us is an illusion, and we're living in a virtual world while the real world is unknown. That's why this film really resonates with me!"

"Duke's return to the summer blockbusters didn't disappoint. As always, it was incredible, but The Matrix is still an American hero's journey—a small person awakens and saves the world! But only this film could make it so cool, and the action and explosion scenes are beyond words!"

"The Matrix is a film that, like its director Duke Rosenberg, is destined to leave a lasting mark on film history. I'm not sure about others, but after watching it, I really started to question the reality of the world around me."

Norman quickly glanced at IMDb before returning to the chatroom. It was even livelier now, with more people who had attended the premiere coming back home.

"After getting home, I regretted not going to see the midnight show again! Anyone in Los Angeles planning to go for a second round of The Matrix?"

A lot of people immediately signed up.

Seeing this, Norman suddenly felt an itch. He turned to look at his black trench coat and sunglasses hanging on the rack. With a decisive move, he shut down his computer, put on his gear, and quietly slipped out of the house to the nearest cinema to catch The Matrix again.

That night, many people across the U.S. chose to head out before midnight, all heading straight for the theaters.
