Chapter 10: Chapter 10
Victor
I paced back and forth in my cell, my mind racing with anger and frustration. How did it come to this? I, Victor Asher, behind bars?
I stopped pacing and looked at Eliza, who had just arrived with the burner phone. "Good morning, Victor," she said, her expression neutral.
I took the phone from her, my eyes scanning the contacts list. My PA's number was there, just as I had instructed.
"Good work, Eliza," I said, my voice low and even. "Now, let's get down to business. I have a call to make."
Eliza nodded, her eyes locked onto mine. "Of course, Victor. But we need to be careful. The walls have ears."
I nodded, my mind already focused on the call I was about to make. It was time to take care of this Iris Moreau once and for all.
"You can leave now, Eliza" I instructed "Plus check on my son before leaving" With that been said, she nodded and left.
I placed a call to Dave and he picked on first ring as if he was waiting for my call ever since.
"Master" His voice came out so deep and thick.
"I need you to work on few things Dave" I smirked inwardly.
"Go on master" He said.
I listed all to be done to him and he gave me assurance on when to receive the feedback.
"I'm expecting feedback and make sure you work with my wife, I want to be out latest tomorrow morning Dave. I'm taking too much time in this fucking cave" I commanded, shouting a little and causing iris's attention on me
Shit!
I quickly end the call and hid it in my pocket before she comes in.
"Any problem, Mr Asher" She asked raising her left eyebrow.
"I don't remember telling you I have one" I said and turned my chair, glancing at the streetlight.
She left and went back to doing her work. Probably the last work she would be doing in her entire life. I laughed inwardly at the thought.

Time really waits for no one. I yawned and check the time, signifying that it's almost time to go home. I packed all my necessary things and went into Kieran's cell. I opened the door a little bit but the stupid door still ended up making a loud noise which made him turn his head slightly.
"Do you need anything?, I'm about to leave for home" I asked. I really don't know why I'm concerned about him.
"I need to speak to my father" He said finally facing me.
"I can't do that Kieran " I said.
"Then why bother to ask?" He sounded nonchalantly and rude.
I sighed and let the door open more "Okay fine, but just for few minutes " I said and he nodded. I went back in and told Mike to arrange the other room for Kieran and his father.
"Iris, that's against the rule" Mike said but I just told him to do it anyways since it's just for few minutes. Mike did as I say and went to Kieran while I went back to Victor.
"Your son would like a word with you" I said, got him handcuffed and walked him into the room.
"And yes, Remember, I can hear anything you say outside. I'm watching closely also" I said and left both of them alone but watching from outside.

I gazed at my son, Kieran, his eyes fixed on the floor. We were alone in the visitation room, the soundproof glass and steel door ensuring our conversation remained private but they could still hear us from outside due to the microphones here.
I want to say Alot to him but instead I look at the transparent glass in front of me and returned my gaze at him, fully knowing that Iris is probably watching us.
"Have you said anything to the detectives" I asked but he didn't respond or say anything.
Kieran didn't respond, causing more deafening silence. I leaned forward, my eyes locked onto his.
"Kieran, answer me. Have you told that anything?" I roared. I have no time for a deaf son or his silent treatment.
"You knew you weren't going to say anything, why did you ask to me see me then" I yelled.
He looked from me to the transparent glass and then kept placing his hands on the desk in search of something. He found the mic button and turned it off.
What does he want to say?
"Look father, I know you can get away with this, you always have. And all I'm asking for right now, is to get away from this. I want to go home" He finally said leaving me dumbfounded but eventually smiled.
"You're truly my son. I'm working on it, Kieran. Don't you trust me?" I smiled.
"I do..." He got interrupted by the detective.
"If the mic can't be turn on then I'm afraid it's time to go back to your cells" She said sternly.
Kieran stood up and nodded to me before moving close to her, telling her to lead the way.
I truly wasn't expecting that from Kieran but since I'm not the only one that wants to get out here, someone must get out while we get out. And that is Iris.
Getting out permanently.

After Kieran and his father pulled that stupid stunt, I packed my bags, picked my jacket and headed home. I had a long and stressful day today and I want is to sit in my couch and binge watch the "Squid game" Series with vanilla ice cream in hand.
I used my car keys to find my car, opened it and just sat down at the driver's seat thinking about this case. I've always had nostalgia about this case but now that it's finally in my hands, I'm not feeling excited as I was before.
I ignited the car engine and drove away from the park.
I hit the road in no time and opened my window to receive the fresh air from outside. I drove close to the streetlights to admire it for the first time in my life.
I hit the expressway and closed my windows back but something was weird. The speedometer climbed higher and higher.
What the heck is going on?
As I approached the curve, I felt a sudden jolt. The car began to swerve, and I struggled to control the wheel. But it was no use. The car continued to accelerate, speeding out of control.
My heart racing, I slammed on the brakes, but they didn't respond. The sound of the truck honking in front of me made me make a U turn to where I wasn't suppose to pass.
I tried stepping on the brake to reverse back but it wasn't helping.
Panic set in as I realized I was completely at the mercy of the car. I was a detective, for crying out loud! I'd faced down criminals and solved complex cases. But this...this was different.
What's happening to my car?
I kept on slamming my legs on the brake pedal bit it still wasn't responding and then immediately the car came to an halt making me slam my head on the steering wheel in the process.
I raised my head up but I already injured in my head and bleeding from nose. I looked to my right and left looking for help but couldn't find one.
I took my phone and tried to call someone but couldn't get a signal.
"Shit, shit, shit" I yelled smashing my phone on the wheel.
I tried opening my car door but it wasn't opening. Is my car been controlled? I kept banging on the door and banging but nothing seems to work.
Then almost immediately, the car engine got ignited again and with full speed drove to the nearest tree, which made the car summersaulted and I closed my eyes, bracing for the impact. The crash was tremendous, the sound of crunching metal and shattering glass filling my ears.
Everything went dark.
I was disoriented, my head throbbing with pain. I tried to move, but pains shot through my body.
When I finally managed to open my eyes, I saw that I was trapped, the wreckage of my car surrounding me. I knew I had to get out, but my body wouldn't cooperate.
"Help" I couldn't even make out my own word. I tried getting out again but my whole body was just too weak, I couldn't even feel my leg or arms.
Is this the end for me?
I still kept muttering the "Help" hoping I could get help just when I need it but help didn't come,Again. This made me had flashback of when I needed help just when they finished murdering my parents. I couldn't leave the wardrobe I hid into but kept shouting for help.
I stood still, not saying anything as a tear rolled than to my face from my eyes. I began closing my eyes slowly until all I saw was darkness.
As the darkness came in again, I realized that this was it. This was the end.
And in that moment, I knew that Victor Asher had won.
Again.
