Chapter 170: Too good rewards!
Lucas looked at the paper in his hand, a notification had already popped in front of him asking him if he wanted to use it right now or not.
'I want to be in control…' he thought, what the mark of the damned had done to Lucas had left a huge impact on him.
Again, just like every other big event before, he felt powerless. It was like fate was against him and when he was getting strong for the present, it smacked him at the back of his head with new limits rendering him useless.
The dungeon was a good power boost, it gave equipment and resources that were tough or even impossible to get in the outside world.
But it also had a mental and physical trauma that was embedded in everyone with each level of the dungeon.
First, there was the firebird, it was tough to kill it, and with luck, they were able to obliterate it.
Then there were the mind games, the undead, and lastly, this darkness that was some sort of a prison for a being that was not even supposed to be inside the dungeon to begin with.
Lucas tore the paper and a surge of energy coursed inside him, his body ached, his heart had a pin-tearing pain and his brain tried to split itself yet Lucas persisted, he sat on the ground in a crisscross position and closed his eyes to meditate.
He knew things were going to be bad, he knew that things were going to be even worse. But in the back of his mind, he knew that this was going to happen.
The others looked at him and knew what Lucas had done, Even John had started meditating just like Lucas, he also tore the paper to get those points.
"So everyone thinks we should get the stats here huh…" Sean muttered and after looking at the paper for a while, he tore it too, and sat down.
If one looked carefully, they would see the difference.
Four people had started getting the points and while the quantity was a lot, the time taken to get them was also high.
Jerry was sitting, his face told everything of how his situation was. The temperature in the room was cold, around 10 degrees yet he was sweating as if he was directly under sunlight with above 6 UV level.
John had his hands gripped tight while he had bit his lip to not scream, taking the points for every stat was different. While some hurt physically, some hurt mentally and some even felt like they were directly affecting the lifeforce.
The increased stats were changing the body of the users completely.
Sean was grunting again and again and even opening his eyes wide as if he was not getting any air inside his body.
And then came Lucas, calm and composed while a mess from inside, with his increased perceptions than the others, he could feel every small ligament, tendril, and muscle breaking and then regenerating with the same length and proposition.
Lucas was at the point in his strength stat that if he threw an improved punch on a big tree, he could shake it much more than anyone, even getting the resins, leaves, and branched out, if a fruit would be up, it was even better.
Lucas kept his eyes closed and did not react, while the others just looked at the lifespan increase potion with bewilderment.
After half an hour, Lucas was done, he opened his eyes and saw that everyone was doing their own things and no one noticed him waking up.
Lucas breathed deeply feeling a new sense of refreshment.
"My body hurt before but now it feels like I can even jump 10 feet without trouble.
"Really?" Sarah who was again near him asked with surprise, Lucas may have been a 19-year-old, but he was always honest about what he said, not once would he say things that he couldn't or wouldn't do.
"Yeah" He punched the air in front of him and that made a sound as if a sword was swinging in the air. His knuckles were looking intimidating with better bones. Your journey continues at My Virtual Library Empire
Lucas looked around and saw that the three other people who were sitting beside him were still there sweating bullets.
"Yeah, you woke up quicker than others."
"I am prone to this pain and made the process faster. You can do it too."
"What? How did you make the process faster?" Sarah asked with curiosity and skepticism, whenever she was with Lucas, she seemed to learn new things that helped her in one way or another.
"When you get accustomed to the different kinds of pain that have the same level every time, you can then will the system to allocate the points faster. It just does it."
"Ohh... thanks. Anyways, get your potion from the chest, the poor thing has been open all this time."
'Poor thing huh...' Lucas chuckled and went toward the chest located just a few meters away from him.
One of the chambers was fully empty and then the other had only 4 bottles left.
Lucas picked one of these bottles up. It was some sort of small vile with a golden-colored liquid.
-----
Lifespan increase potion
rare
This potion is concocted from the blood of a true Earth Spirit that has lived for thousands of years. It has the potential to add 50 years to the user's life expectancy and holds the power to keep away death when consumed on the brink.
-----
"Damn..." Lucas felt like all the troubles he had before were gone after he learned about these potions. He kept it in his pocket to drink later.
"Are you sure you want to keep such a thing in your pocket?"
Haley asked, her frown showing how much she despised that idea.
"The what?"
"Give it here... I will give it back to you in the shelter." Haley asked, her hand in front of Lucas.
Lucas first kept looking at her with seriousness, but then chuckled after seeing the sincerity on her face.
"Here" Lucas gave a catch of the vile to her which made her break from her seriousness and with panic evident on her face, she caught it clumsily.
"What the hell!?"
"Hahahaha" Lucas kept a hand on his stomach and laughed aloud making the others interested as to what made it happen.
"Alright, everyone! You all can start getting those points in the stats right now, it's going to take them time anyway."
"Can't we do it in the shelter?"
"It's better if you get them here while everyone is already doing it. But it's your choice." Lucas went and sat at the side near the plain wall to have some rest.
They may been far away from being a normal human but Lucas and the group still had a need to sleep which they hadn't gotten these days.
His companions were still in the process of absorbing the points, each facing their own struggles and challenges.
John maintained his disciplined composure, Jerry appeared to be wrestling with discomfort, and Sean's grunts conveyed the intensity of his efforts.
Lucas started meditating again as it seemed to soothe his mind. Meditation was both a respite and a means of adapting to the new power coursing through him.
His mind connected with his body in a way that transcended the physical. He could sense the mana and flow of his energy, the subtle shifts in his vitality, and the way his body absorbed and integrated the newfound strength.
It was a weird feeling as it was the first time he even felt it. And it was all because he had allocated those points in his stats.
'Will I improve even more if I place the free points in the stats too?' Lucas asked himself but in his heart, he already knew the answer but he repressed the idea for now thinking that the group needed him right now more than ever.
Time passed slowly as Lucas meditated. The room's atmosphere gradually shifted as his companions completed their processes.
One by one, they emerged from their meditative states, with varying levels of exhaustion. Their faces bore the marks of the transformation they had undergone, a mix of fatigue and a newfound vigor.
Ella came near John and Sean, "Are you both okay?"
"I feel tired, Mom," Sean said with a groan and went to the side to sleep without making any more conversation.
Yet John was different, he looked tired yet he was not at the same time.
"I'm better than alright, Ella. I feel... different, in a good way."
Ella looked at Lucas with a mixture of happiness and curiosity. "You're glowing slightly like your skin has become healthier."
John chuckled. "Maybe it's the afterglow of absorbing all those points." He said cheekily.
"You all didn't take the points?" He asked in curiosity seeing so many walking around and talking.
He had a hard time imagining them all starting later than him and still being done before he woke up until his eyes fell on Lucas.
