Legendary Shelter Survival Guide

Chapter 166: The Overseer

Lucas entered the gate completely which made him feel a completely different thing.

There was grass on the ground and there seemed to be no ending to the plain.

Lucas took a good breather of fresh air not getting where he was.

"This looks like we are out of the dungeon but the land is too clean for that, no trees or herbs... just grass everywhere." He commented when he saw John Ella entering the gate.

He looked back and gestured to everyone to come fast as there was a chance that the gate could close before the ones that were on the other side could even come.

"What the hell..." Barney said while taking deep breaths.

"It feels like we are outside, are we outside the dungeon?" Sarah asked, excitement dwelling inside her.

"I don't think so, this is not our forest," Lucas said as he activated his perceptive eyes for a second, The whole area was full of greenery with the nature aura and nothing more.

Lucas tried to look ahead yet it seemed there was only grass and land with no end everywhere.

^"Welcome, adventurers."^

Lucas's eyes became wide as he looked around in vigilance, he just heard a voice and even if it felt pleasant in the ears, Lucas still couldn't help but look at everything.

^"Congratulations for coming this far, your travels were very difficult from the others."^

"What?"

"Who are you!? What do you mean by that?" Lucas asked himself while looking ahead, The voice seemed to come from everywhere, so in the end, Lucas just kept his hands on the scabbards of his swords in the hope of being able to take them out in his time of need.

^"The other outers in this level of the dungeon didn't have this much difficulty, Oh, and forgive me for not introducing..."^ The voice said that everyone listened to carefully.

The voice was that of a female yet it had a robotic hue in it making Lucas wonder what was really happening.

Suddenly, before anyone could do anything, a light shone directly in front of him, Lucas had to keep a hand on his eyes while the other was on his scabbard at the left waist where the electric current sword was located.

When the lights started to dim, Lucas quickly tried to peak at the light and it was the second time in this plain that he was dumbfounded, he didn't know if the others had already looked or not but it was clearly above their expectations.

The figure in front of them looked no less than a deity on Earth. It was a female with perfect beauty, her face looked to have no flaws. She was wearing a white veil covering everything but her face.

Her curves were out of this world which reluctantly made Lucas look from up and down at her for a second.

His gaze fell on her eyes and to his surprise, the being was also looking at him, a smile plastered on her face.

The smile looked perfect but there was this feeling, a feeling that the smile was not genuine at all. It was just there to show him that she was smiling, no emotion seemed to come out of it.

"WHO ARE YOU?" Lucas asked in a threatening tone while the others just kept looking at the bing with various emotions.

Even John who had a wife couldn't help but appreciate the beauty in front of him. Surprisingly, even Ella and the other girls also had the same reaction, they looked at the beauty with curiosity and envy as if they wanted what she had.

^"I am the Overseer, a guardian and some call me the guide of this realm,"^ the being announced, its voice carrying a mixture of warmth and a detached, artificial quality.

"Overseer?" Lucas repeated, the word not entirely registering in his mind.

"Yes," the being responded, its form pulsating gently. ^"I watch over this level of the dungeon and the souls who venture within. Your adventurous journey has intrigued me. Your struggles and choices have set you apart from those who have come before."^

Lucas exchanged glances with the rest of his group, each person wearing a mixture of curiosity and caution. The situation had taken yet another unexpected turn, and they were all grappling to make sense of it.

"You said our journey has been different," Sarah interjected with somewhat confidence, her voice tinged with a mix of wonder and suspicion. "What exactly do you mean?"

The Overseer's form flickered slightly, and it seemed to be contemplating how to convey its explanation. ^"The trials and obstacles within the dungeon are designed to challenge those who enter. Your group, however, has faced challenges beyond the norm, circumstances that required not just physical, intelligence, and adaptability prowess, but beyond normal."^

"And you've been observing us this whole time?" John questioned, his tone a bit harsh yet the being didn't mind as if it didn't have the right screw in the mind to know what was feelings.

^"Yes, I have been monitoring your progress,"^ The Overseer confirmed and said no more making the others whether look at her to explain more or confusion.

"What did you mean by that?" Lucas asked discreetly making the being turn her face toward him, she had a calm expression that changed to a small smile when she looked at Lucs which made him frown. Why just him?

The being just looked at Lucas but he could feel her gaze change to his arm, the same location where his mark was located.

Lucas suddenly kept a hand on it thinking that something would go wrong if he were to show it more.

^" No one was supposed to enter the prison realm yet you were sent there without my permission as the guardian of this level, someone beyond your imagination has specially made this path for you." The bog spoke making Lucas feel a chill on his spine.

The being that was leisurely speaking started to vibrate with a surprised expression making them all step a little back.

The vibrations stopped after just three seconds and her face reverted back to normal as if nothing had happened to begin with.

"I am not allowed to speak further." The being said after the silence faded, her gaze went to the sky that seemed to be endless just like all. However, Lucas had a feeling that the being was not looking at the sky but beyond it.

"Are you a human?" Haley asked with excitement, clearly not paranoid enough to have her guard up.

The being's face shifted to Haley and her smile reverted back to a calm face that weirded everyone out and looked at Lucas for an explanation.

"I don't know, I just met her..." Lucas said when in turn, he averted the gazes of the others.

^"I am the overseer"^ The being said in a robotic voice making Haley just nod in confusion and not speak again.

The bing changed her gaze to Lucas again and a smile returned on her face.

^"You are at a crossroads."^ The being said again, she shifted and showed the forward, ^"There are two paths in your journey again, choose one that will bring you to the rewards room or the other that will take you out of the dungeon in one piece without successfully completing this level of the dungeon."^

The being spoke and became silent making the others just look at the two doors that had just materialized out of thin air in a second before them.

"Gods! Another choice, ugh!" Sean just slammed his knees on the ground in frustration.

Lucas on the other hand saw the changes in the being's expression when she heard the word 'Gods' from Sean yet she reverted back to normal the next seconds not giving much to Lucas.

"Let's go" Lucas said and took a step forward nearing himself to the overseer.

"A-Are you sure?" Ella asked with fear that they were going to go pat the being.

"Yes"

Lucas was the first one, in a few steps, he was near the being who had no presence or aura at all. Lucas with worry went past her while she gazed at him smiling the whole time, to be honest, he was creeped out by her.

One by one, they all came near the doors and observed them with seriousness.

These doors were the ticket to reach the rewards room and no one wanted to mess things forward after getting through all that.

"Lucas, use your skill and tell us the colors." John asked while looking at the being who had shifted herself and now faced the groups again her eyes didn't leave Lucas at all while she smiled.

Luca didn't care and activated his skill while looking at the gates, one was black while the other was shimmering light. He was going to announce it the next second.

^"Ah, the mark of the damned,"^ a voice feel in Lucas's ears as he looked behind at the overseer.

The Overseer had spoken, her tone filled with intrigue. ^"A unique gift granted to you, One who is watched by the damned. A title earned through your journey, a path set apart from the others."^
