Legendary Shelter Survival Guide

Chapter 131: Difficulty on another level

Lucas got to know the whole story through John who entered after Ella told him that Lucas was finally awake.

Lucas could only shake his head, he wanted to smile but his facial expression was very stiff as if something was wrong with his face.

"Sarah..." Lucas spoke and Sarah finally looked at Lucas's eyes with her reddened ones.

"You did nothing wrong, that big fireball may have been dangerous but still, no one was hurt from it and you ended things quickly so it's a win-win situation. Don't feel bad." Lucas kept caressing her hair while she embraced him.

"But... But the forest was destroyed completely." She said between sniffles and getting more tears on Lucas's chest as he was buck naked from above his hips.

"The forest had to be cleared anyway, this way, we have more space for our endeavors, it's really a win-win. Stop crying, you should be proud of yourself, If you hadn't thrown that big fireball, I might not have been even alive, you know."

It took Lucas a while to settle things with Sarah. Apparently, she had rarely gotten out of the shelter and hadn't left Lucas's side for a long time.

She worried that the others were holding grudge against her and due to not being able to show her face to them, she had started to keep her to herself without interacting much.

When Lucas took care of Sarah, he finally looked at the system's log where he saw the last texts and when the quest had started.

"It really is the gods huh... I thought I read it incorrectly at that time." Lucas read through all the logs before he passed out.

"We will talk about that later."

"I need to go out..." Lucas got up forcefully feeling a little bit of soreness and pain throughout his body but it wasn't like the headaches he get from getting skill information making this pain bearable.

"Woah" When Lucas took his first step, his body wobbled a bit making him wonder how long he had just laid on the ground in the shelter like that.

"How long was I out for, Uncle John?"

"Well..." John had some reluctance showing on his face but after a sigh, he finally told him, "2 whole days."

Lucas had his eyes widened in response, he wasted two whole days in sleeping rather than doing his training? Preposterous.

He took a deep breath thinking that things were not in his hand to begin with. Only the guilt persisted of how he got cocky like always and got spit on his face at the last moment by that intelligent creature.

'I still can't believe how sadistic it was. The text said that we were not supposed to fight it this early but for entertaining the gods, we had to fight these creatures anyway. Does that mean that we will be invaded by such demonic creatures again and again?'

Lucas's mind didn't stop making different assumptions or tallying the facts that he knew about.

"Lucas, are you alright?" Ella approached him with a concerned look, she had started thinking of the kid as her own. And knowing that such a kid's mother was not with him in such severe days, it made her heart break just by thinking about it.

He forced a small smile which was surprisingly very difficult, trying to ease her worry. "I'm fine, Aunt Ella, just thinking about what happened."

No one said anything further and Sarah grabbed Lucas's arm in order to help him move. Lucas wanted to chuckle seeing her being so protective of him but when he took a step further, his knees bent and he was going to fall but Sarah helped him up not letting him fall at all.

"You're very weak right now, walking would be too much," Ella said, her voice filled with concern. "And I have to tell you, one of your eyes is totally gone. I am confident that I can fix it, but it might take weeks with my level of healing. You'll also face challenges judging distances or how far things really are now that you have only one eye. Lucas, you have to rest for a few more days."

Lucas sighed, understanding the gravity of the situation. He was grateful for Sarah's honesty and care. "Alright, I'll take it easy, but I don't want to waste any more time. There's so much to do, and I can't afford to be idle for too long."

Ella placed a hand on his shoulder, "We understand, Lucas, but your health comes first. We'll handle things here while you recover. And don't worry, if you recover in some time and I know you will, things will become normal again I swear, I will fix your eyes and skin like they were before."

"My skin?" Lucas asked with a frown, he knew his eye was gone but what about his skin? He looked at his arms, chest, and abs but there was nothing wrong with them but soon realization hit him.

Lucas moved his hand and touched his face around until he felt many uneven bumps on his left side cheeks.

The bumps felt like his skin had many chunks of flesh missing and he was touching the bone on his own. Lucas also felt like there was some uneasiness and itch inside his left eye which was not working which made him want to scratch it but found no energy to intact it.

"How bad is it?" Lucas asked honestly from Sarah, there was no mirror or water body so looking at his face was not possible for the moment.

"Pretty bad..." She said sheepishly.

"Like I said, don't mind about our skin. You trust my healing, right?"

"Yes"

"Good, then know that I will fix it."

"Lets get you out of here to get some sunlight first." John took his other hand and helped Lucas out of the shelter, when the gate opened, Lucas's eyes squinted while he staggered his way out of the shelter toward all the people in th group.
