Chapter 100: The Descent of the Bodhisattva

The Bull Demon King also wrapped his arms around Princess Iron Fan's waist, apologizing, "My dear, I was wrong… I promise I won't mess around anymore."

Princess Iron Fan sighed, "It's all in the past…"

...

Watching this scene, Tang Sanzang suddenly felt that the ox hoof in his hand was no longer appetizing, so he tossed the ox hoof away and turned to leave.

Sun Wukong caught up with him, "Master, where are you going?"

"I've had my fill of dog food, and I'm sick of it… I'm going to find a place to get some fresh air."

No sooner had Tang Sanzang finished speaking when someone called out, "Guanyin Bodhisattva, Lingji Bodhisattva, and Samantabhadra Bodhisattva have arrived!"

Everyone looked up and saw three figures flying from afar.

Immediately, someone exclaimed, "Samantabhadra Bodhisattva, Lingji Bodhisattva, Guanyin Bodhisattva have arrived!"

All arose in unison to look over, and saw the three Bodhisattvas riding on auspicious clouds toward them…

Everyone chorused, "Greetings to Samantabhadra Bodhisattva, Lingji Bodhisattva, and Guanyin Bodhisattva!"

The three Bodhisattvas returned the greeting, "Greetings to all the Taoist friends."

While they spoke, the three descended from their clouds, but their brows were furrowed as they communicated through telepathy.

"It seems there has been a fight here, could it be that the Buddha has already been here?" Lingji Bodhisattva asked.

Samantabhadra Bodhisattva said, "If the Buddha had been here, why would Tang Sanzang still be here?"

Guanyin Bodhisattva said, "Strange, indeed strange. But since the Buddha said he would act, then he certainly will. Let's wait and see."

Upon seeing the three, Tang Sanzang's eyes lit up, and he immediately walked over with a sack.

As the three Bodhisattvas saw Tang Sanzang approach, they all had a bad premonition.

With a smile, Samantabhadra Bodhisattva asked, "Tang Sanzang, long time no see."

"Indeed, it has been a long time. You've come for the wedding, right? Just give the red envelope to this poor monk…" Tang Sanzang finished speaking and lifted up the sack in his hand, "Don't worry about giving too much, just fill it up."

The smiles on the three Bodhisattvas' faces immediately stiffened; they had seen people ask for gifts, but never directly for a sackful.

The three exchanged looks.

Guanyin Bodhisattva said, "It seems the Buddha really hasn't arrived yet… It's not good to not give a wedding gift when the Buddha hasn't come and someone is getting married, especially with so many people watching."

The other two Bodhisattvas nodded in agreement, then one by one they took out their gifts and handed them over.

Tang Sanzang looked at the gifts and said with a look of disdain, "Bodhisattvas, the True Monarch Clear Minded has given a dog directly, and the Bull Demon King even stewed himself to present to us. You three aren't just giving these little trinkets, are you? Isn't that a bit too shabby? I think, at the very least, each of you should present one Innate Spiritual Treasure."

Upon hearing this, Yang Jian had a bitter smile on his face, thinking, "That was a gift from him? Obviously, this baldy tricked him."

The Bull Demon King's face was even more miserable; he had been killed and stewed, right?

However, neither of them objected but just watched the three Bodhisattvas, curious as to how they would respond to this brazen monk.

When the three Bodhisattvas heard the words "Innate Spiritual Treasure," they trembled, nearly stumbling headlong to the ground.

Lingji Bodhisattva said, "Tang Sanzang, do you think Innate Spiritual Treasures are cabbages? I only have one myself, and you expect me to give it to you?"

Samantabhadra Bodhisattva also said, "Innate Spiritual Treasures are born naturally, they are once-in-a-lifetime finds. In these endless epochs, I've only acquired one. You're asking for one per person, why don't you just go and rob some?"

Tang Sanzang replied with utmost seriousness, "Isn't this a robbery?"

The three Bodhisattvas: "@#¥...&"

Everyone was also shocked, for these were three Bodhisattvas!

At the very least, they were beings at the level of top-tier Daluo Golden Immortals, and there were even those from the Primordial Realm.

This baldy was actually robbing three Bodhisattvas, was it because he was audaciously skilled or simply fearless of death?

However, the crowd was also curious, curious about how the three Bodhisattvas would respond...

To have three Bodhisattvas being robbed at the same time, this play wasn't any less exciting than a battle between two great war deities.

Guanyin Bodhisattva put her hands together and said, "Amitabha, Tang Sanzang, you've misunderstood, we didn't come here to attend a wedding... Actually, we..."

"Actually, we came to watch your drama!"

A familiar voice rang out, and the crowd looked back to see the lion monster arriving belatedly.

This thing was the very same castrated azure lion that had once become the King of the Cart Slow Kingdom, raised by the Bodhisattva Manjusri.

Tang Sanzang looked at the lion monster with a dazed expression and asked, "Oh? Watch my drama? What drama?"

The lion monster laughed heh-heh and said, "Tang Sanzang, your good days are over, don't you know that?"

Tang Sanzang shook his head: "I don't know."

The lion monster said with a cold laugh, "You sneakily went to retrieve the scriptures, and we turned a blind eye, but you actually sent out invitations far and wide, throwing a big wedding... you want to announce our affairs to the whole world! Even the merciful Buddha cannot indulge you anymore! Thus, the Buddha has descended from the mountain... What are you laughing at? What are you all laughing at?"

The lion monster hadn't finished speaking when the audience around them started to laugh.

The lion monster wondered, "What are you laughing at? Is it funny? What I'm saying is true, the Buddha said he was going to resolve this issue... Stop laughing! I'm serious!"

A hand clapped down on the shoulder of the lion monster, and Sun Wukong laughed heh-heh as he said, "Brother, were you trying to say that the Buddha said he would resolve the issue of us spreading the news? If that's the case, you might as well not talk... Wujing, boil another pot of water!"

"It's ready, just waiting to be put in the pot."

Sha Wujing replied with an honest face.

Before the lion monster could react, Sun Wukong slapped it over and dragged it toward the big pot, saying as he walked, "Last time you escaped being eaten, consider yourself lucky, but now that you've come again, don't blame us for not being polite. Master, how should we eat this one?"

Tang Sanzang said, "I want braised lion's head."

Sha Wujing replied, "All right, master, please wait a moment!"

The lion monster was baffled; he couldn't understand what was happening before his eyes. Why weren't these people afraid of the Buddha?

As the distance to the big iron pot drew closer, the lion monster became scared, and promptly cried out, "Bodhisattva save me, ah!"

Lingji Bodhisattva was just about to say something, when suddenly a bead on his chest lit up. Then, a light shot out from the bead, materializing into a chubby man in a monk's robe with curly hair.

"The Buddha?" Lingji Bodhisattva exclaimed.

On the other side, the lion monster, as if grasping a lifeline, shouted, "Buddha, save me! Hurry over here, Tang Sanzang is here! Hurry!"

The Six-Eared Macaque immediately jammed the compliant iron rod into the lion monster's mouth, and it immediately became silent.

Lingji Bodhisattva also asked, "Buddha, where are you?"

The Tathagata Buddha replied cheerily, "The matter is resolved, and I'm on my way back to Mount Wutai. Where are you all?"

Lingji Bodhisattva replied with a puzzled face, "Buddha, were you mistaken? Isn't the matter unresolved?"

As he finished speaking, Lingji Bodhisattva desperately gestured with his eyes, trying to get the Buddha to notice the bald man nearby.
