Chapter 325: Experience is the best way to learn
Nayoung leaned close to Elshienne and whispered with a cheerful grin, "I thought Professor was gonna be super strict, but nooo~ he just let us observe and figure stuff out on our own. Right, Yoora?"
She turned toward Yoora, expecting agreement, but Yoora only rolled her eyes and crossed her arms with a low huff. "Hmph."
Just then, Seojun's cold voice broke through their quiet chatter.
"Let's move. We're done here. Go out to the field."
As they walked, Yoora muttered under her breath, "What is he up to now?"
"I hope Professor will teach us how to tame soon!" Nayoung said, skipping a little with excitement. "Like, really really tame something big and cool—not just observe and guess! I wanna ride something fluffy or scary, and be like, 'Go, beast!' and have it listen to me!" She made little hand gestures like she was commanding a giant monster, eyes sparkling.
Minseok chuckled softly while Elshienne smiled at her energy. Nathan didn't say anything, but his eyes stayed on Seojun, watching closely.
Once they reached the open training field, Seojun turned and faced them again.
"Unawakened," he said plainly, "step to the side. MOve far. Do not move unless I say so."
That left only Yoora, Minseok, and Hannah in the middle of the field. The others murmured as they moved to the edge, a few looking uneasy.
"Ohhh, Why just them?" Nayoung whispered,
"What's he planning now…?" Nathan frowned,
Seojun didn't answer their quiet voices. His face was unreadable as he raised one hand and—snap!
The sharp sound echoed, and a moment later, a loud metallic bang followed. The heavy door at the far side of the warehouse slammed open with a force that made the ground tremble slightly.
BANG!
Their eyes widened in shock.
"What the hell!?" Yoora gasped.
"Wait—what was that?!" Hannah flinched, stepping back slightly.
"No way—" Minseok muttered, his voice tight.
From the open warehouse door, two massive beasts came into view—charging at full speed toward the field. Their roars thundered in the air.
"Are you serious right now?!" Yoora shouted, already getting into position.
Curses and gasps filled the air as the others backed further away. And Seojun?
He just stood there, hands in his coat pockets, watching.
Nathan's eyes widened as the two massive beasts thundered out of the warehouse, their paws pounding against the ground like a rolling earthquake. His instincts kicked in fast, and without thinking, he rushed forward a few steps and shouted at the top of his lungs, panic rising in his voice.
"Are you crazy?! Get out of there, hurry!" he yelled, his voice sharp and desperate as he pointed toward Yoora, Minseok, and Hannah still standing in the field.
Elshienne stepped forward too, her face pale. "They're not ready for that! Please—stop this!"
From behind them, Nayoung gasped and covered her mouth with both hands, her voice trembling.
"W-What's gonna happen?! Professor!!"
The awakened trio in the field stood unaware of the panic from the others, their eyes focused on the approaching beasts. Yoora raised her stance, prepared to dodge or fight. Minseok looked serious but calm, already reading the beasts' movements. Hannah gripped her notebook, her hands shaking but her eyes not leaving the monsters.
The ground shook harder as the beasts closed in.
Seojun stood calmly a few steps in front of the three students in the field. The two large beasts were still charging forward, but his face showed no fear, only focus. He turned his head slightly and spoke, his voice clear and cold.
"Observe closely," he said to Nathan, Elshienne, and Nayoung, "You three are the only ones who can help them."
Then he looked back at yoora inside the field and said flatly, "Do something to control them."
Yoora snapped her head toward him, her brows furrowed in anger. "What the hell?! We don't know anything about this! Are you seriously doing this on our first class without even teaching us anything?!"
Her voice was full of frustration and disbelief. Hannah stood frozen beside her, her notebook pressed against her chest. Her eyes were wide and teary.
"I'm sorry, Professor," she said softly, her voice shaking, "but I'm on Yoora's side. You… you've lost your mind… huhuhu…"
Minseok was quiet but had already taken a step forward, his eyes narrowed, clearly trying to analyze the beasts' speed and behavior. But the tension was thick, and panic was starting to grow.
Seojun, unfazed, looked at them and answered calmly, "Experience is the best way to learn. Books and notes won't save you in front of a beast."
While panic was rising fast, Seojun stayed calm and spoke again, "Open your eyes properly, Observe the beasts. Look at how they move, how they stand, how their bodies shift before they charge. You need to learn with your eyes, not just your ears. Do not freeze."
The ground shook lightly as the two beasts came closer. The creatures had thick, wrinkled gray skin like an elephant, but their bodies were the size of a hippopotamus. They had short tusks curved slightly downward, thick legs, and wide, heavy feet that smashed the dirt with each step. Their eyes were small, but sharp and filled with pressure, and their wide mouths opened just enough to show hard teeth made for crushing.
The moment the beasts got close, Minseok acted first. Without wasting time, he grabbed Hannah, who was still frozen, and jumped to the side with surprising speed. He landed behind a small raised ground, using it as a quick cover.
Yoora also moved, rolling to the side and avoiding the beast that almost hit her. She was breathing hard, her face pale but focused, and she shouted out her thoughts even while moving.
"Their legs are strong but heavy! The left one is slower—it's dragging slightly! Look at its head—it lowers before every charge! And the second one hesitated,"
Seojun stood where he was, still watching. He didn't step in to stop the beasts. He only spoke once more.
"Keep your heads clear. If you panic, you lose. These beasts aren't here to kill you. They're here to teach you."
Nathan's hands were clenched tightly at his sides, his eyes full of anger. Elshienne looked just as upset, her jaw tense as she stared at the field where the three were running from the beasts.
"You're just watching them?" Nathan said sharply. "This is crazy! They could get hurt!"
But Seojun didn't even glance at him. His voice was cold and steady.
"Your anger won't help them," he said. "Do what you were told. Observe."
Elshienne frowned deeply, but she didn't argue more. Nayoung, standing between them, looked worried, then clapped her hands quickly to grab attention.
"Wake up, wake up!" she said in her usual bubbly tone, but her eyes were serious. "Professor said to observe, right? So let's do it properly! Those creatures, they're not fast—but they rush in short bursts, so it's like… boom, stop, boom, stop!"
Nathan blinked at her.
"What?"
"I mean, they only charge in a straight line!" Nayoung pointed excitedly. "When Minseok moved, it didn't follow with turns! So if they can avoid straight paths, they're safer! Oh! And the back legs bend inward—maybe they can't jump or change direction easily!"
Elshienne's eyes widened. "That might help Minseok dodge better."
Nayoung nodded and shouted toward the field.
"MINSEOK! DODGE SIDEWAYS! THEY CAN'T TURN FAST!"
