Chapter 702 Thirst
In such a dire situation, Rain would typically feel a surge of anger directed at the dragons for eliminating their own ally, even if he played a significant role in causing the damage. However, his mind was shrouded in a thick fog of hatred at this moment.
His singular focus was on wreaking havoc and annihilating as many dragons as possible, leaving no room for considerations or emotions beyond the burning desire for revenge. The intensity of the battle had transformed Rain into a relentless force, driven solely by the instinct to retaliate and emerge victorious.
Even amidst the enveloping darkness of the night, Terra and Seara observed Rain engaged in the battle. Their surprise was palpable as they witnessed Rain's remarkable proficiency with a spear, a skill set that he had they hadn't expected. Despite the simplicity of his movements, there was an undeniable effectiveness and lethality in his every strike.
Rain's prowess with the spear added a new layer to their understanding of his combat abilities, leaving Terra and Seara thoroughly impressed by his versatility in the heat of battle.
"Isn't he even stronger than before?" Seara asked while furrowing her eyebrows. "I can't feel him using that much of my mana either. Something is different from the usual him."
"... It must be because of the shield. He is effectively using him," Terra said while looking at Rain through the corner of her vision while she healed a bunch of warriors. "I just hope that this cursed item won't overtake his mind." Discover exclusive tales at My Virtual Library Empire
Rain had already killed five of the leviathan dragons in less than five minutes, and the walls of water had decreased in length as well… it created some holes in the cage, and most of the water escaped through those holes, so which brought the group some time, but the levels of the water were still increasing.
The leviathan dragons stopped altogether with their plan of destroying the capital, at least not without using magic. Rain's rampage made them focus on him, and thanks to it, the warriors, soldiers, and mages were able to attack the monsters relatively safely. However, the number of warriors was decreasing since they had to move while the water was already on their waists.
Upon realizing that they couldn't let Rain do whatever he wanted, the leviathan dragons split their work. Ten of them stopped using the giant water prison to attack Rain instead. Sonic water spears, water maelstroms, water spikes… they tried to hit Rain with everything they had, but even at point-blank range, they failed.
The moment Rain felt the vibrations in the water, he jumped upward and then avoided dozens of water spikes that almost pierced him with supersonic speed. Several water cyclones emerged to surround him, but before they could close the encirclment, Rain flew in a straight line toward the nearest dragon.
As soon as he was about to hit the next target, two tails moved from the sides to smash him—the impact creating a seismic collision between the two tails. The clash sent shockwaves rippling through the air, causing a resounding boom that echoed across the battleground.
The sheer power unleashed in the collision created a visual spectacle as energy surged and vibrations reverberated through the very fabric of the environment, pushin away water and wind. It was a display of titanic strength, leaving an awe-inspiring imprint on the ongoing struggle between man and dragon.
Still, they didn't hit Rain. He increased his speed and hit the target. After pulling the spear out of the wound, Rain used his mana to cover it in ice and increase its size. When the tails approached him again, the spear began to spin and collided against them at the same time… much to the dragon's surprise, the spear not only blocked the attack but also began to freeze the tails.
At the same time, Rain began to rip apart the flesh of the dragon below him with his bare hands… seeing blood and meat being gushed out like that made those who saw it feel shivers.
"More blood, more blood… kill them all…"
Rain heard that voice in his head and imagined for a moment that he was losing his mind… it felt like his own voice, but he couldn't say for sure… he could feel the power, the strikes, the danger… but he also felt like he was operating completely automatically.
"Ugh, be quiet…" Rain thought.
In the next moment, Rain swung the spear sideways, and at first, it looked like it didn't hit anything, but then the area on his right side on the flesh of the leviathan dragon began to freeze until it was completely covered in ice… Rain didn't use any extra mana on his attack, but he could feel that it had been used… his instincts warned him that such a thing wasn't normal, but he couldn't stop.
In the end, he kicked the frozen area and completely shattered it.
It didn't take long for Rain to connect the dots… the more blood the weapon touched, the more it grew powerful. Rain, in his focused state, couldn't feel his mana growing, so he wondered what was going on… a weapon couldn't have its magic properties increased like that… unless it was alive and it was getting experience, too.
Rain decided to confirm that theory when three Leviathan dragons attacked him at once. He jumped with all his might and then coiled his body like a spring after he dodged the attacks. When he threw the spear downward toward the head of one of the monsters that had just attacked him, the weapon pierced and drilled the head of the monster while it froze everything on its way.
An unknown skill leveled up.
An unknown path leveled up.
The skill Ancient Stamina received 10.000 experience points.
As expected… something else was gaining experience, and that something was trying to take over his spear… Rain couldn't see that, but it was the shadow coming from his shield.
