Chapter 682 Forged path
"I guess I need to consult father," Rain thought.
Rain's desire to create these waves of power stemmed from his desire to build a force that the Raging Phoenix could rely on consistently, regardless of the adversary they faced. While magic users and allies could certainly be valuable in specific situations, Rain wanted his core group to be self-sufficient and able to confront any threat that came their way.
This self-reliance was particularly important because, as strong as they were, the Raging Phoenix needed to be prepared to face not only dragons and beast people but also the potential challenges posed by their former allies or any other unforeseen enemies.
Rain understood that their ultimate goal of protecting their territory would require an unwavering strength that could withstand all adversities, and these waves of empowerment were his way of ensuring just that.
"I can see your worries, and truly, recruiting them could cause future problems," Roan said when Rain showed up on his territory. "Still, those who are younger would be fine in helping. They like their lives here and how their families are living. It is better than they had been when they focused on increasing their strength every day. So they would be willing to protect that."
"Wouldn't that be the same as taking advantage of them?" Rain frowned.
"That is one way of looking at it," Roan said. "In that case, when you try to recruit them, tell them that they can only join if their whole families agree with it. That will make all of them understand that we aren't going to force them to join the fights."
"That is a pretty good idea," Rain nodded, visibly Impressed at his Father's cunning.
"Hehehe, don't praise me too much about it," Roan said. "I had too much time to think about all kinds of things here and I also talked with them a lot recently. Some of them said that."
"I see," Rain said. "You know them better, so can you deal with that, Dad?" Rain asked. "In the meantime, I will try to come up with the best training methods to make them improve the skills that we need. Depending on their numbers that will want to join, we will have to split them in squads for each element, that will improve their skills. If that isn't possible, they will become jack of all trades."
"All right, leave it to me," Roan said. "You are focusing a lot on this, though. You should also improve your new techniques and learn new ones since you are always at the forefront. I also want to learn new techniques."
"You want to rip me off, huh?" Rain said and then laughed.
"I am just too old to be as creative and learn as fast as you," Roan shrugged. "Anyway, while I said that, don't rush it and spend more time with your family while the enemies let us do that. At that point in time, it is pointless to think that we can determine the flow of this war."
Roan had a point… being attacked by three sides was a bit too much. Besides, it was hard to say how many sides that war had… the unknown forces that were helping the magic and the beast people. The hooded figure that could use teleport and the human who killed the beast people and the magic people and sparked that war… it was just too much.
Unfortunately, Rain could only spend as much as he wanted with Sealyn… Danny and Annie ended up getting his training freak side and they used as much as possible to learn from their mothers. They only spent one hour or two with him daily and they didn't ask much from him. Rain couldn't help but think that they wanted to become stronger as soon as possible to help him in the fights.
"What should I do about this?" Rain thought and then sighed when he saw his kids training in secret again. "Not like I had much choice aside from keep fighting to protect the human territory, but… it feels like I forced a difficult path upon my kids."
Fighting dragons was easy if compared to raising children in a normal and free without making them feel compelled to do anything. Then again, Rain taught them a lot of things to make them able to use healing magic, so he couldn't say much about how things turned out… he was completely to be blamed for whatever happens with his children.
"Maybe I should develop some spell where any damage that they suffer will fall on me," Rain thought. "That will make me feel less guilty if they find themselves in a life filled with fights. They might end up hating me for protecting them all the time once they get older, though."
There was also the possibility that they might get too used to that and that would hinder their growth… There were so many things to consider that Rain couldn't help but worry endlessly.
Once Rain finished all the flutes that he could make and was waiting for the results from Roan side, Rain found himself with some free time in his hands. He was already thinking about his next steps considering the Raging Phoenix, but now he had to consider his own steps as well…
"I guess I should try to learn the technique similar to sea dragons…" Rain thought.
Isa didn't say the name of the technique, it didn't seem like it had a name… it wasn't very special technique either, it wasn't even related to combat in a sense. Basically, the sea dragons could use something that he called Power Nap. They could sleep in order to recover energy faster and when their energy was full, all the energy recovered beyond necessary would be used to make them stronger.
So, sea dragons could get stronger by sleeping.
"I wish that I had learned this technique when I was born in this world," Rain thought.
