Chapter 668 Unexpected civilization
"Do you guys reproduce that fast?" Rain asked. "Oops... this is weird thing to ask..."
"That is indeed a weird first question," Isa raised her right eyebrow. "If you keep asking things like that, people will think that we only talked about weird things. Well, I can see why you would ask that and that depends from person to person. Those who have the blood of the beast people tend to reproduce quite fast."
Rain's knowledge of the diverse inhabitants of this world shed light on their varying rates of reproduction. He understood that sea folk, although similar to humans, had a slightly slower reproductive cycle. On the other hand, the magic people, like humans, typically had a similar pace of reproduction until they reached the age of one hundred, where the dynamics might shift.
Then, there were the dragons whose reproductive habits were unique.
Dragons, it seemed, laid their eggs approximately once every fifty years, a frequency far different from most species. These dragon eggs then had the curious tendency to incubate for an extended period, up to five years before hatching. The reasons behind this peculiar reproductive cycle remained a mystery to all but the dragons themselves.
Perhaps Isa, with her knowledge and insights, could provide Rain with more information on this intriguing topic, although delving into such matters was indeed an unusual conversation.
"We noticed that the sea dragons became more active and we saw some others flying around as well," Isa suddenly said. "Considering what you brought, it seems that you killed a lot of them." Find adventures on My Virtual Library Empire
"Well, I was kind of forced to," Rain said. "Some of them invaded the human territory and others attacked our allies in a two front, so we had to fight."
Rain opened up to Isa, sharing the events of the past two months that had shaped the world. He relayed details about the new techniques he had acquired, skillfully keeping certain sensitive information to himself. These revelations piqued the curiosity of those around, sparking their interest in what he had learned.
Rain also described the initial clashes and their outcomes, providing a comprehensive overview of the battles that had taken place. Isa listened attentively, absorbing the knowledge he shared and likely contemplating its implications.
"To think that they would invade all those territories like that," Isa said while furrowing her eyebrows.
Rain wanted to ask her what she thought of their intentions, but that would be suspicious to those around. So, he decided to stay quiet. After traveling for two hours, the group entered an expansive region of massive farms situated in the heart of the demi-human territory.
The sight was truly impressive, as these farms were impeccably organized and laid out closely together, displaying the demi-humans' mastery of efficient food production. However, as they journeyed further, the farms gradually receded, giving way to even more remarkable sights in the heart of the demi-human territory.
There, they encountered grand structures constructed from elegant materials like marble, which stood as a testament to the demi-humans architectural prowess. The urban landscape featured bustling streets filled with residents going about their daily lives.
Many moved through the air using magical items, while others glided along on self-propelled skateboards, showcasing the innovative and advanced technology employed by the demi-human community.
"... This is an unusual sight," Rain said while blinking. "Did you guys develop this much in a few thousand years?"
"You can say that," Isa said. "We didn't have much land at first, so we had to develop it as much as possible and as efficiently as possible. Necessity made us invent a lot."
There is that saying that necessity is the mother of invention and progress… and the demi humans were a clear proof of that, but that also made Rain think of a few things…
As Rain observed the advanced technology and sophisticated society of the demi-humans in this world, he couldn't help but wonder if there might be a connection to Earth.
While he had primarily focused on adapting Earth's technology to his advantage, the remarkable advancement of the demi-humans made him ponder the possibility that individuals from Earth might have been reincarnated or somehow influenced this world over the years. This idea could potentially explain the presence of such advanced and Earth-like elements within their society.
Although they had an advanced society, it was only in terms of technology and not other fields. Rain could see that they divided their society in ranks and those who they saw themselves as better than the others would live in the center of their land.
It was hard to say how they divided themselves, though. Rain could see half sea folk, half beast people, and half magic people there as well… maybe money was ruling there as well.
"I guess all societies are the same," Rain thought.
The central area of their territory wasn't that big, so they arrived at a large building that seemed like an important place since it was heavily guarded.
The guards stationed at the impressive building, which resembled a Greek temple, caught Rain's attention with their distinctive appearance. They wore suits of armor that combined a blend of gold and red hues, giving them a regal and formidable appearance.
These suits of armor had a peculiar mechanical look to them, with visible lines and components that resembled a complex assembly of parts. While the armor appeared mechanical in nature, Rain could sense an underlying magical presence emanating from them.
Even their weapons, which bore a resemblance to mechanical constructs, seemed to consist of interconnected components as if they had been intricately assembled like Lego blocks. Their unique appearance left no doubt that these guards were both technologically and magically advanced.
Isa made them land in front of the building and when the guards prepared to move, they saw the red striped tiger man who just raised his right arm and that made them stop.
"I will notify the elders about our arrival, you all watch them," The tigerman said.
