Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix

Chapter 667 Telekinesis

Van explained to Rain that his previous visit to the area, where he had a private meeting with Isa, had caused a significant stir among the authorities in that region. Even though it had been only two months since that visit, the situation had grown tense.

Isa's reluctance to meet with other officials or reveal the details of his conversation with Rain had raised suspicions and led to increased scrutiny from those in power. This secrecy had created an air of uncertainty and unease among the local authorities, who were eager to know what had transpired during Rain's visit.

"So, I can't talk with her anymore?" Rain asked. "I suppose that makes sense, I can imagine your policies around here."

"We aren't forcing you to do that, but you will have to pass some procedures coming from the guys at the top of our country," Van said. "Granny is someone important here, but she wants to avoid those who stand at the top here because, in her words, they are a real pain in the ass. I see that you brought her some things, but I can't imagine her being happy receiving those."

Rain knew that somehow, the demi-humans escaped from the clutches of the dragons and since then, they were able to repel them. He also knew that Isa was a half-dragon, so weapons made of bones of them probably wouldn't please her that much, but Rain needed to the people there that his side could fight the dragons too. "Is this going to take a while?" Rain asked. "I promised my wives that I would return today."

Van saw Rain with a mixture of confusion and concern as if Rain were a peculiar and enigmatic creature. He understood that Rain was on the verge of stepping into the intricate and secretive political landscape of a hidden nation, one that held a wealth of knowledge he sought.

However, amidst the intrigue and danger of this new mission, Rain couldn't help but worry about returning to his home, where he had assured his wives that he would be back soon. His priorities were weird, if anything.

"It will take three days if we go on foot," Van said.

"What if we fly?" Rain asked.

"If you can fly, those guys won't trust their safety in your hands," Van explained.

Rain's mind was filled with concern and restlessness. He recognized that he didn't have the luxury of wasting time, as his absence could cause worry and anxiety for his wives back home. However, he also understood the importance of following proper procedures as a guest in these unfamiliar lands, especially considering his status as a potentially suspicious individual.

Striking a balance between urgency and diplomacy was a challenging task that lay ahead.

"... Maybe granny can do something about this, but she won't enjoy it a lot," Van said when he realized that Rain was hesitant.

"I owe her a lot, I don't want to trouble her, but…" Rain said and then sighed.

"Let's go and see what she wants to do," Van said. "She doesn't dislike you, and since it has come down to this, she might join us to avoid problems and mediate things between the upper echelon and you."

Rain passed the weapons to Van and then they moved to the beach. As he got closer, the guards that came from the center of the demi human territory held their weapons tight and looked ready to attack. Just like the other beast people, they liked claws a lot, but they also had daggers as weapons. It suited them.

"The visitor says that he accepts your invitation, but he doesn't have much time," Van said. "I am going to ask Granny to help us with that."

"I accept that, but all of his weapons need to be confiscated," A tiger man with red stripes said.

Rain wondered why he was saying that as if Rain couldn't hear… maybe Rain, from their perspective, was like a wild and rare animal that couldn't understand the language of that world. Either way, that was really weird…

Van left in a hurry to talk with Isa and it didn't take even five minutes for them to return… Isa looked like she just received the worst job in the world and looking at the weapons on Rain's back didn't improve her mood. It was only natural that she would feel that way, even though her identity was still hidden.

"My apologies for bothering you, I have to talk with you about the recent events, but I didn't expect that things would end this way," Rain said.

"It doesn't matter anymore," Isa said. "As much as you, I want to get this done as soon as possible, so let's go."

In the next moment, the group of guards, Rain, Van and Isa began to float over the town and then they began to fly quite fast toward the center of the territory… Rain couldn't sense any elemental magic at play, so he would only imagine that it was Telekinesis.

"I didn't see anyone using this until now, but…" Rain said while blinking several times.

Rain couldn't help but wonder about the kind of dragon that Isa's parent must have been. Her ability to learn a unique skill like that was a testament to the dragon's incredible power. It seemed more like an Esper skill, transcending conventional magic, and hinted at the potential for immense strength and knowledge within her lineage.

As the group crossed the territory of the demi humans, the appearance of the surroundings began to change. As Rain traveled through the area belonging to the demi-humans, he noticed a clear change in the landscape. The once abundant trees gave way to taller structures, all constructed from sturdy brick. Even the roads were paved with this material.

The densely packed buildings and limited open spaces made him ponder the sheer number of inhabitants in this area. It was a stark contrast to the natural surroundings he had previously encountered.
