Infinite Evolution: My Idle Evolution System

Chapter 183: Apocalypse Gates

It was just no after no after no with this man! Did he not care a single bit about how pretty she was!? What of her high status?? Did he not even put her authority into the equation!?

This was all so terrible! And it all turned her on!!

"Mhmff~..."

"???"

Cassius could've sworn that he heard a sweet and tender moan sound out from beside him, but when he looked toward Viola, he saw that her expression was as emotionless as his. Of course, her soaked undergarments and dress gave her away, but she made a good attempt.

It really was a solid attempt…

Cassius decided not to embarrass the poor, weird lass. Instead, he leaned his palm against his chin and viewed the rapidly flashing scenery outside the limo window.

'Tokyo truly is very large… and futuristic…'

He had his suspicions for quite a while now, but it wasn't until he came to a place of genuine innovation that he realized just how different this world was from his previous one. Tall, technological skyscrapers were erected as far as the eye could see. Skyline bullet train railways were scattered throughout the country and ran in every direction. There were even cybernetic vehicles that floated off the ground and traveled in organized paths in the sky.

Cassius had seen similar scenes in the other countries he visited in his hunt for stronger Gates. But that didn't mean seeing such sights now made them feel any less unreal.

The world—it had changed.

The year was still 12500 of the Earthen Calendar, the same as before, but nothing else was the same. This world… it was not Cassius's world.

For the remainder of the limo ride, Cassius pondered something he hadn't really had the time to think about until now. However, when they arrived and the doors to the casino were opened, he snapped back to reality. Quickly, he realized they were at yet another airport.

"The Gates we're going to are not in Japan?"

Were they not heading toward one of the many Red-rank Gates littered around Japan? There were dozens of them, all of which were regularly cleared or permanently closed by extremely powerful A-Rank Hunters and normal S-Rank Hunters.

However, as far as he was aware, there were no Purple-rank Gates left open in Japan.

As the country had far too few S-Rank Hunters and no S-Rank Hunter parties, every single Purple-rank Gate that appeared would be cleared by a temporary S-Rank force. After which, the S-Rank Hunters would split up and return to their own guilds.

Only the most powerful and largest countries, like America, Russia, and China, were able to amass the necessary manpower to consistently farm weaker Purple-rank Gates. Though, even they could do nothing but permanently close any new Gates if they exceeded the Mid-Purple rank.

As for Peak Purple-rank Gates, they could only be permanently cleared by S-Rank Hunters from all around the world. These types of Gates were dubbed…

…Apocalypse Gates…!!!

And as of recent times, there have only been four such Gates in the world, two of which had only recently appeared in the last couple of months.

The world leaders went through several meeting sessions because of these unprecedented events. And through multiple lengthy discussions, the world unanimously decided to be at peace with one another. All wars came to a temporary close just a few weeks ago.

In a way, the World's End Gates' continued evolution and the powerful Gates that followed were the key to achieving world peace.

As the saying went, there were always bigger fish to fry.

*Whirl, Whirl, Whirl—!!*

"So, are you going to tell me where we're actually going?"

Cassius's dampened voice traveled through the choppy air and reached the ears of a stunning woman whose luscious purple hair was wildly flying all around. With an otherworldly way about her, she tucked her hair behind her ear and replied with a smile that held many meanings.

"You said you were weak, didn't you?" she asked with a bit of playfulness. "Well, I know of a restricted place that'll truly put that weakness of yours to the test. Have you… heard of Apocalypse Gates?"

"Apocalypse Gates?" Cassius repeated, his mouth hanging slightly agape. 'If we're going to an Apocalypse Gate, then is it…?'

"The Apocalypse Gate—Oblivion's Threshold! Home of the Oblivion Titans and the Oblivion Acolyte!"

Viola's voice, coated in space energy, eclipsed the dampening effect of the strong winds. And with it came confirmation of Cassius's suspicions. This Gate… It was one he planned to solo raid within the next few days. But now… now it seemed the date would be brought forward a bit.

Viola's lively expression froze when she felt and saw no visible reaction from the young man sitting before her. She had expected him to at least gasp in surprise, but no. Nothing. He was like an unmoving rock.

'I wonder if down there… is as much a hard rock as his disposition is… Mhmm~...'

Cassius could've sworn that a similar moan as before resounded, but because of the lack of good hearing this high up, he was even more uncertain this time around. This made him momentarily consider putting more emphasis on his Perception stat. But thinking about it again, the stat was already absurdly high. Did it really need to go higher?

This thought lingered in his mind until the moment he was beckoned off the helicopter.

As for where they ended up landing, it was an isolated island located a few hundred miles outside of Japan. This island, which used to be unnamed and unknown, was now the conjoined property of dozens of countries, including the United States, Canada, Thailand, Jordan, France, and several others.

On this island—around ten miles in length and a couple of miles in width—there resided a giant metallic dome. The dome was capable of reflecting all light that interacted with it and then used that same reflected light to camouflage itself. From a bird's-eye view, it was as if the dome didn't even exist.

But for those who virtually lived inside the dome, it very much existed.

"Follow me, Sir Cassius."
