Chapter 180: Instant Rejection!
—Twenty Minutes Later—
The helicopter began to descend. Within moments, it was already hovering just a few meters above a yellow-painted helipad. The helipad was located at the far north side of a very large and shiny building. When it landed and the people inside stepped out, they were immediately greeted by hundreds more suited figures.
Surprise flashed past the irises of the lead man as he hadn't expected such a grand entourage for the man he had been tasked to brief and invite. Even he hadn't received such a grandiose welcoming ceremony when he was recruited…
One would think that the way he looked at the indifferent Cassius would change for the better, but that was simply not the case. As an extremely vain and conceited man, his previous irritation only increased.
However, when the distinct sound of heels clacking against a hard metal surface echoed, he immediately discarded all his sinister thoughts.
"Guild Leader!"
*Thud, Thud, Thud!*
All of the gathered men and women in suits hit the floor with their fists as a very outstanding woman entered the scene. Her dress—long, purple, and flowy—was dazzling. It was only overshadowed by the far more resplendent bed of violet-colored hair that warped around her perfect figure, accentuating the work the dress was doing for her image.
Yet, above all else, it had to be her mesmerizing purple whirlpools that truly drew people in. Those eyes—they were far more effective than any hypnotic techniques.
However, in the face of all this immense beauty, Cassius remained unwavering. The view was a pleasant one, but that was all. He could not allow himself to be careless again.
Never again…
One could tell that the Branch Master's death still weighed heavily on his mind. But with the goal of absolute strength pushing him forward, his subconscious did its best to push everything unrelated to the pursuit of power to the back of his mind.
Viola raised one of her perfectly molded brows in interest. She walked through the path opened up by her innumerable men, and when she finally made it to a distance less than a few feet away from the emotionless Cassius, her interest multiplied.

She wasn't sure if she had ever encountered a man like him before. Unaffected by beauty at such a young age… Just what had he been through?
Death. That was the simplest answer.
It is said that death changes a man.
And he, who had died hundreds upon hundreds of times, was surprised that he was even capable of empathy anymore.
Viola, still appraising Cassius, thought, 'He's handsome as well… How intriguing…'
"So, why have I been invited to your Guild in this vast city?"
Cassius's plain voice suddenly broke through the silence encompassing the rooftop of one of the most expensive buildings in all of Tokyo. The building not only resided in the most opportune location in all of Japan, but it was also home to dozens of top-grade training facilities and lounge areas, all of which were used by Voidling Guild members.
The man who led Cassius here immediately became incensed when he saw him speak out of turn. "Do you have no shame—!?" However, before he could finish what he was saying, Viola's deathly violet glare landed on him.
"!!!"
He shut his trap real quick.
Turning her head back toward the uncaring man, Viola said, "I do apologize for the uncouth behavior of my subordinate. I hope you won't take his offense to heart."
Cassius coldly looked at the profusely sweating man before locking all of his focus on the enchanting beauty. "It's not an issue."
He would normally add an insult for the man at the end, but for some reason, he felt far less inclined to do so.
Wonder why that is…
Viola paid very close attention to every minor change in Cassius's facial expressions, and from how he seemed to be thinking about something unrelated to this visit, she was able to confirm it.
'The S-Rank… Another Japanese S-Rank Hunter… A heaven-sent replacement for Static Baron, perhaps? Well, either way, he's still an S-Rank Hunter… That much I'm almost 100% positive of.'
As one of the most perceptive and intelligent people in not only Japan but the entire world, Viola was able to piece the clues together. First were the absurd number of Red and below Gates that had been secretly cleared by this man. Then there was his utter disregard for her immense authority as an S-Rank Hunter. Furthermore, there was something about his stare…
There were unknowns hidden within its depths…
Thankfully, Viola had been the first one to check into the hidden files left behind by the recently deceased Hunter's Association Branch Master. If not, then she definitely would've been obligated to share this gem with the rest of the S-Rank Hunters and the Association.
Getting straight to the cusp of the discussion, she said, "Say, how would you like to—"
"Sorry, I won't join a Guild. I'm too weak."
Instant rejection!
"You…" The lead man from before once again started to speak up but was quickly silenced by the scary Viola. She even motioned for a few of her A-Rank subordinates to take him away and have him stay out of this conversation.
It wasn't like the other Voidling Guild members weren't also angered by the unknown man's rather rude way of speaking. But contrary to their recently dismissed comrade, they knew not to open their mouths when their Guild Leader was making an expression like that.
"...If I may ask, why won't you join my Guild? I promise you benefits greater than what any of the other Guilds can offer you… So why?"
Hearing Viola's question, Cassius matched her burning stare and replied in a tone void of emotion:
"I'm weak. I already told you that."
"...." "...." "...."
Not just the Voidling Guild Leader, but everyone gathered there couldn't believe what they were hearing.
Although none of them knew exactly how strong he was, those higher up among their ranks were at least aware of his recorded Gate Clears. His feats even exceeded most of their own, and they had parties to raid with! What did he have?
Just himself!
...…..
