Chapter 247: INIIDF-Chapter 244 Huge Experiment
"Outside of Kenbunshoku Haki (Observation Haki), guns are fast.
Inside Kenbunshoku Haki (Observation Haki), people are fast."
Pirates suddenly erupted from rooftops on both sides of the street, unleashing a barrage of gunfire.
Amazon Lily is home to a warrior society, where only the elite of the elite, the fiercest among the fierce, are worthy of joining the Kuja Pirate crew. Mastering both types of Haki is the bare minimum requirement for that.
Predicting the trajectory and impact of bullets in these mechanical projectiles is easier than anticipating human movements.
The Kuja warriors on the street effortlessly dodged the bullets, instantly drawing wooden arrows from their quivers and drawing their bows into crescents. They moved in perfect coordination, launching a swift counterattack.
The pirates on the rooftops cackled, "Haha, lucky us, so many beautiful... ah!"
Before their gloating could continue, arrows sliced through the air, exploding on impact with the rooftops or piercing pirates who couldn't dodge in time, tearing them apart.
The Iceberg Pirates were stunned.
They'd heard rumors of other pirates landing on the island and had been sent by Old Boss to investigate. Spotting a group of beautiful women, they saw an easy opportunity. They attempted to intimidate them with gunfire, but were met with a devastating counterattack, arrows piercing through their ranks in an instant!
'Why was this happening? What kind of monsters were these women? How could they aim with such precision and power? Their weapons were mere bows and arrows, yet they possessed incredible destructive force!'
Unable to hit their targets with guns and overwhelmed by the powerful arrows, the Iceberg Pirates scattered, fleeing to the opposite side of the rooftops.
"Don't let them escape!"
The Kuja warriors leaped into action, swiftly climbing onto the rooftops or pulling their companions up, pursuing the fleeing pirates.
But they couldn't outrun the Kuja arrows.
Whiz! Whiz! Whiz!
The arrows, imbued with Armament Haki, reduced air resistance, significantly increasing their speed and range.
One by one, the pirates fell.
An arrow targeted the lead pirate. Marigold pressed her companion's bow, "Let him escape..."
The Kuja warrior, bow drawn, looked surprised, but Marigold clenched her fists, "He's likely trying to get back to the main group. Let's follow him!"
"Oooh!"
The Kuja warriors raised their snake bows in agreement, leaping from the rooftops, hot on the trail of the few surviving pirates.
The pirates who managed to escape death were pushed to their limits, sprinting back to the main Iceberg Pirate base.
"He is quite fast..." Many of the Kuja warriors panted slightly.
Marigold caught her breath and then surveyed the ruined buildings ahead, an abandoned factory resembling a steel fortress.
"This will be a big haul!" A senior Kuja warrior exclaimed quietly. "If we dismantle the steel from this factory, we could forge so many weapons!"
"Let's go..."
…
"Let me ask you a question..."
Liam patted Old Boss's shoulder as he sat cross-legged on the ground. "Your parents, Tyrant's parents, and those childhood friends of yours who often enjoyed free ice cream at Ice Cream Paradise..."
[Flashback: Six-year-old Bartholomew Bear, wearing rough linen clothes, carrying firewood, and reading a Bible, passed by Ice Cream Paradise. A little girl ran up to him, excitedly offering him an ice cream. "Your Highness Prince! The ice cream is delicious! Come eat with us!" she urged, tugging on his hand. Child Kuma smiled gently and followed her to Ice Cream Paradise for a free treat. He exchanged smiles with the little girl, surrounded by laughing children, enjoying the sweet taste...]
"Your parents, they're all ordinary humans, right?" Liam asked, looking at Old Boss, who towered over him.
[Flashback: Outside Ice Cream Paradise, exhausted parents watched their children's innocent smiles with relief after a long day of work. Eight-year-old Prince Kuma gave his collected firewood to a passing beggar and returned to the palace with his guards...]
"But you... all grew to be 3-4 meters tall, or even 5-6 meters tall... is that right?" Liam said slowly, recalling the giant-sized woman he'd seen on the ship before arriving on the island.
[Flashback: "Prince Your Highness! See you tomorrow!" The little girl smiled sweetly, trying to hold her parents' hands, but noticed they had shrunk. "Nina's growing up! In a few years, I'll be taller than my parents!" Her parents smiled happily as they took her home. The guards looked up in awe at the eleven-year-old Prince, already two meters tall. They couldn't help but wonder how tall he would become. Would he suddenly become a Giant...?]
Old Boss looked up, confused, unsure why Liam had brought this up.
"Well... yes."
He didn't understand the significance of Liam's question. In the pirate world, height wasn't always genetically inherited, and significant variations from parents were not uncommon.
For example, in the Monkey Family, both Garp and Dragon were over two meters tall, "Admiral-sized," but Luffy, even at nineteen, only reached 1.74 meters, a noticeable difference from his parents. However, in the pirate world, this wasn't considered unusual.
Liam said slowly, "I see, now I understand why Tyrant became Tyrant..."
In the comics, children under the influence of Caesar Clown's addictive drug candies experienced violent rages during withdrawal. Similarly, the Yonko Big Mom, likely subjected to gigantism experiments, exhibited similar symptoms, such as her terrifying "Eating Disorder," where she would destroy anything and everything if she didn't get what she wanted, even harming her own son.
The World Government had conducted human gigantism experiments for centuries, with many in the scientific community attempting to harness this power. However, not everyone, like Caesar, used children as subjects...
"Damn it! I'm suddenly really angry."
Liam clenched his fists, breathing deeply as heat flared from his nostrils like arrows. "Next time I see a Marine, I'll beat them to a pulp! For now, let's deal with these pirates... Captain, let's go." He said, walking forward with determination.
Robin followed him.
"Hey! Don't act impulsively!"
The 28-year-old Old Boss hurried to catch up. "Those pirates are too strong. If you go, you'll only be rushing to your death..."
…
The Kuja warriors moved stealthily, infiltrating the abandoned factory occupied by the pirates.
Utilizing Kenbunshoku Haki (Observation Haki) and their exceptional teamwork, they remained undetected by most of the lurking pirates. The few isolated pirates were swiftly dispatched, arrows piercing their throats, silencing their screams...
The Kuja warriors systematically eliminated the Iceberg Pirates within the abandoned factory.
"That was easy!" a new member of the Kuja Pirate group laughed from the shadows.
"Oh? Easy, you say?"
A cold voice echoed from behind them, followed by an overwhelming surge of force.
