Chapter 34
Chapter 34
Saying it out loud made my heart feel heavier. But if I stopped talking to myself, I felt like I’d forget how to speak altogether. A frozen sensation lingered in my chest, aching dully. The dark, damp cave walls looked unbearably cold—this suffering always came in exchange for the solace the cave provided.
For some reason, I thought of a stuffed toy I’d won from a crane game. I remembered its softness. In reality, I was lying on a cold stone bed, with only a pelt for cushioning.
Before I knew it, I had fallen asleep.
The next day.

The rustling of monsters now served as signs pointing me to prey.
But even with my increased level, caution was essential. I hid in the shadows and began my search carefully.
“…Huh?”
The sound of frantic footsteps—multiple monsters. I moved toward the noise, careful not to be noticed.
Two-meter-tall monsters darting between the trees.
