I Will Give This Marriage A Chance

Once they were in the elevator, Eric could no longer hold his curiosity.

"Sir, you seem to be quite familiar with Ms. Beaumont."

"I'm not familiar with her." Eric looked at his boss

'Who would believe that with the way you stare at her.'

"She's interesting, isn't she? Alexander asked Eric

"How so?" Eric inquired

Alexander glanced at him before rolling his eyes and turned away. When the elevator came to a stop on the first floor, Alexander quickly exited. Eric had to speed walk to catch up with his boss' long strides.

"You can have the rest of the day off, I'm visiting the main house today." Alexander told Eric as they both entered the car. The drive was a long one since Eric needed to be dropped off at the office.

"I'll gather the documents that you need to look over and bring them to your house." Eric informed Alex before bidding him goodbye.

"What has my grandfather been up to?" Alexander asked Richard his driver

"He's been upset for a while with your parents because you aren't showing any interest in getting married and he's planning to arrange it for you."

"What about my grandmother?"

"She's the reason as to why he hasn't found anyone because keeps rejecting them."

Alexander nodded at his driver's words before looking out the window.

"Looks like I need to speed up the process." Richard glanced at his young master through the rear view mirror.

'He's talking to himself.'

Alexander walked up the steps off the main house and was greeted at the door by Richard's older brother Rick.

"Young master, you're back! Thank heavens!"

"Where is that unfilial brat?" his grandfather rushed to the door with his son,daughter-in-law and wife following behind him.

"Why are you so angry? Aren't you afraid of your heart?"

"You've never visited and now that you're here your wishing for my heart to fail!"

"Grandfather, when did I ever wish for your heart to fail, I simply reminded you not to get angry, but if I anger to such a point I won't visit anymore." Alexander turned to walk away from the door way.

His mother grabbed his arm shaking her head.

"Alex, you haven't visited for so long, stay for dinner." his mother Jennifer urged him

She dragged him to the living room where his younger sister was seated, sipping on a cup of tea. She smiled slyly at her older brother as he was berated by their grandfather. Even when he was seated, it continued.

"When are you getting married?" 

Alex shrugged his shoulders while staring at his grandfather. Alex's father Julian face palmed himself.

'He's going to anger the old man to death.'

Seeing his father reaching for his cane, Julian stepped forward."Father, calm down, please."

"Don't tell me to calm down! Talk that son of yours, he's 34 and not a woman in sight!"

"How do you know that there isn't a woman I'm interested in?" everyone turned to look at Alex whose gaze was focused solely on his grandfather.

"What?"

"It seems like your hearing isn't as good as use to be."

"Don't sass me and repeat what you just said."

"There is someone I'm interested in but she may only see me as a business partner and no more."

"What is her name? How old is she? Describe her." Laura Blackthorne, his grandmother inquired about the woman who caught her grandson's eye.

"Her name is Evangeline Beaumont, I'm not sure about her age but she younger than me, she elegant but quite fierce when dealing with people who have ulterior motives."

"Evangeline Beaumont?" his sister thought out loud. Everyone including Alexander turned to her.

"Do you know her, Helena?"

"I'm not sure if he's talking about the same person, give me a second."

She pulled out her phone and went to her university website. She went to the school paper that featured some of the school's alumnis.

"Is this the person you're talking about?" she turned her phone towards her family.

Alexander confirmed that it was indeed Evangeline. His mother and his grandmother began fussing over the young woman.

"You're really something brother."
