LGHTNOVELBOOK Chapter 94: Teddiursa
Four figures were seen standing in front of the Wigglytuff Guild entrance. Among them, a small brown, bear-like Pokemon held the hands of the Azumarill beside him as support.
"And this is our home. Come, we'll introduce you to everyone."
"Is this where mom is, dad?"
"Teddy, I told you, don't call me Dad. You can call me Big Brother, just like Azumaril and Pikachu."
"B-but, Ms. Chansey, s-she told me everyone has a dad and mom...."
Dante sighed in exhaustion as he looked at the teary-eyed Teddiursa. He had just legally turned into an adult this year. He even had his first girlfriend just last month. He wasn't prepared to become a father yet! Not to mention…
"Pfft! Y-yeah, Dan. You chose to adopt him. Of course, you are his parent!"
"It's not cool to run away from responsibility, Dan."
If it weren't for the smile on Azumarill's face, his words would have been more credible. Still, at least he held Teddiursa's hand to support him while walking, unlike Pikachu who is just making fun of Dante's current situation.
Listening to his two partners encouraging Teddiursa to continue calling him dad, Dante felt even more tired.
'Well, at least my earlier thought process was proven true…I just don't know whether I'll choose to hatch a Pokemon Egg again.'
Dante opened the Team Menu and looked at Teddiursa's stats. Seeing the Ability section, his lips curled into a satisfied smile.

As expected from a Pokemon that came from the university's Breeding house, he inherited many powerful moves from his parents. Still, Dante cared more about the two Abilities Teddiursa had.
Quick Feet was very straightforward. As long as Teddiursa is either poisoned, burned, paralyzed, frozen, or asleep, his speed will increase by 50%.
Pickup, on the other hand, was described very vaguely.
According to the Alliance Database, when Pokemon with the Pickup Ability are on-field with a partner, as long as the partner uses a consumable item like berries, the Pokemon with Pickup will be able to recover and use it for themselves provided they have no held item.
The mechanism behind this Ability was theorized to be the same as Recycle, though no solid proof has yet to be found. Pokemon with the Pickup Ability can also detect nearby treasures while exploring in the wild.
However, Dante remembered that the Pickup works under a different mechanism in the PMD world. Here, as long as a Pokemon with that Ability held no item, every time they entered a new dungeon floor, they would have a chance of obtaining a random item.
Still, with Teddiursa still in his infancy stage, they could only test the validity of that information a week later. Rubbing Teddiursa's head to comfort him, he led the way inside the Guild.
"Welcome back, Dante, Pikachu, and Azumarill! Oh, and who's this little cutie?"
Chimecho greeted their team, having finished the front desk duty for today. Her heart melted seeing the Teddiursa with a paw in his mouth, his wide eyes curiously looking around the guild hall.
She floated in front of Teddiursa, shaking her body to make a soft chiming sound.

Dante felt his mood lift after hearing the sound of Chimecho's chime. Teddiursa laughed in that cute innocent way only children can make. He pulled Dante's tail to call his attention and asked.
"Dad! Dad! Is she mom?"
"PFFT!!"
Pikachu and Azumarill covered their mouths and turned their heads to the side, trying their best not to laugh aloud.
"No, Teddy, she's not mom. Sorry Chimecho, Teddiursa hatched from an Egg I found and left to Chansey. Because of some things, he had decided that I was his dad. And now, he is looking for his mom."
According to Chansey, Teddiursa hatched early this morning just after they left the town. Then in the afternoon, he saw other Pokemon younglings in the nursery being picked up by their parents.
When he asked Chansey who they were, she told him- about how all Pokemon have a parent, and his parents being a famous Exploration Team.
Teddiursa continued to pester her, and seeing that all the other kids were also looking over curiously, she decided to indulge and tell them the exploits of Team Omnipotent Traveler.
Teddiursa became very excited after she finished telling the story. He walked to the front door of the nursery and eagerly waited for his parents to pick him up. And when he saw the three Pokemon that looked the same as Chansey described, he ran as fast as his clumsy legs could allow.
Things happened, and after some argument between the three, the role of Dad fell on Dante who was the one to adopt the egg. Meanwhile, Pikachu and Azumarill became Teddiursa's big brothers.
Dante tried several times to dissuade Teddiursa from calling him Dad, but as seen from the current situation, his effort remained futile.
"Teddy, this is sister Chimecho. If you have any troubles in the future and you can't find us, you can go look for her."
"Hello, sister Chimecho!"

Chimecho smiled, and after waving to Dante and his team, walked towards the guild quarters.
After that, Dante and the others walked around the guild to introduce Teddiursa to all the available apprentices. They also tried asking around for Chatot but apparently, he was with the Guildmaster arranging things for the upcoming expedition.
Finally, their group stopped in front of Croagunk and his Swap Shop.
"Meh-heh-heh, welcome. I saw your new member, Teddiursa, right? Here, have a welcome gift."
"Hey, how come we didn't receive any welcome gifts when we entered the guild?"
"Are you seriously comparing yourself with a baby?"
Pikachu scratched his head in embarrassment under Dante's deadpan gaze. He quickly shifted his gaze to Croagunk, who took out a card and gave it to Teddiursa.
"It's a Teddi-Card, something that can increase Teddiursa's defense. Just something to help with your future explorations."
"Thank you, big brother Croagunk!"
"Meh-heh-heh, think nothing of it."
Seeing Croagunk blushing and scratching his head, Dante smiled and changed the subject.
"By the way, we also wanted to trade for Exclusive Items. What are the ones available now?"
"Oh, you have some business?"

The * beside the name of the items are their rarity, from (*) being the most common and to (***) the rarest. Exclusive Items with * rarity can be obtained from treasure boxes. Meanwhile, both ** and *** star items can only be obtained through swapping or synthesizing with the Swap Cauldron.
The Swap Cauldron is a magical item with two functions: Swap the Exclusive Items inside with another Swap Cauldron, or synthesize the Exclusive Items inside.

Heal Seed - A food item that heals many status problems after ingestion.
Weather Band - When held, it shields the wearer from the effects of weather, as if it's always Clear.
Insomniscope - When held, it prevents the wearer from getting the Sleep, Yawning, or Nightmare condition.

TM (Power-up Punch) - Teaches the move Power-up Punch
From the 20 treasure boxes that Raichu dropped, about 60% yielded an exclusive item. As for the other drops, the Heal Seed, Weather Band, and Insomniscope are very useful for future explorations.
The surprise came from one of the TMs.
No, it's not the Rock Slide. While Rock Slide is a powerful move that Teddiursa can learn in the future, it isn't that useful. After all, he can buy the same TM in the human world. The real game-changing TM is the Power-up Punch.
