I Got Reincarnated As Danzo!?

Chapter 8: Chapter 8 Village Mission And Condition

Months had passed.

"A ninja mission system?"

Tobirama's squad exchanged puzzled looks at this sudden announcement.

The First Hokage, Hashirama Senju, remained calm, nodding. "Yes, after careful consideration, I've decided this is necessary. Ninjas need a way to support themselves. After all, we can't rely on farming or trade alone."

Tobirama cleared his throat.

Hashirama continued without missing a beat, "Of course, my little brother helped with the details."

Tobirama stepped forward, addressing his disciples. "With your current strength, you're capable of handling most escort missions. However, to ensure safety, I'll assign a skilled senior ninja to accompany you. He will not intervene unless your lives are in danger."

He picked up a scroll marked with the letter **B** from a stack of mission files and handed it to Danzo.

"This will be your first official mission as a Konoha ninja team. Make sure you complete it flawlessly."

"Yes, Sensei!" the team responded in unison before leaving the Hokage office.

As they walked, Koharu Utatane looked around excitedly. "This is our first time leaving the village since it was founded. I wonder what it's like out there."

Mitokado Homura grinned. "Yeah! I can't wait! If we run into enemies, we'll just take them down!"

Danzo, less enthusiastic, folded his arms. "The fact that there's a mission means things aren't completely stable outside. Not everywhere has strong protectors like Hokage-sama."

His words dampened their excitement.

A chuckle echoed from nearby.

Before anyone could react, a blur moved through their ranks like a ghost in the wind.

Uchiha Kagami's Sharingan widened, trying to track the movement, but he couldn't react in time. The gleam of a blade flashed past his neck—yet it didn't cut.

One by one, the figure passed through the team with lightning-fast movements. Only Danzo barely managed to block a strike with his sword, forcing the attacker to pause briefly.

"Weak," a deep voice sneered. "Pathetically weak. Only one of you has the slightest bit of promise, and even he won't last beyond two strikes."

The attacker stepped into the moonlight.

Kurama Ten'un—the current head of the Kurama Clan and one of Konoha's elite jonin—stood before them, casually twirling a strand of their hair between his fingers, a smirk playing on his lips.

His Konoha jōnin vest was a stark reminder of the power difference between them.

"Damn it… We couldn't even react," Koharu muttered.

"He didn't even use ninjutsu…" Homura's voice wavered.

Ten'un's smirk widened as he assessed their shaken expressions. "If this were a battlefield, you'd already be corpses. Is this what you call 'knocking down enemies with ease'?"

Their earlier excitement had completely vanished.

Back in the Hokage Office, Hashirama and Tobirama watched from a distance, exchanging knowing smiles.

*Even young eagles must learn to bow their heads before they can soar.*

After a moment of silence, Ten'un introduced himself properly. "Kurama Ten'un, Elite Jōnin of Konoha, head of the Kurama Clan. I'll be your observer for this mission."

Danzo's eyes lit up. *A Kurama Clan member? Perfect—this will help with my genjutsu resistance training.*

The others introduced themselves, but Ten'un's expression remained indifferent—until Danzo spoke. His gaze sharpened slightly in curiosity.

"Alright, let's go meet our employer."

---

They arrived at a newly built wooden house. A middle-aged man in dusty, tattered clothes stood nearby, his gaze fixed on the building with a mixture of longing and envy.

Seeing the ninja team approach, he quickly straightened and pulled out a small handkerchief, wiping the spot where he had been leaning.

"I-I'm so sorry, Lord Ninjas! I didn't mean to dirty anything!"

His face was darkened from sun exposure, his expression full of fear.

Danzo stepped forward. "You must be **Furukawa Kei*, our employer?"

"Yes! That's me!" His face lit up with relief.

"We'll depart tomorrow morning," Ten'un stated. "The team needs time to prepare."

Kei's face suddenly fell. "B-but…"

Danzo frowned. "Is there a problem?"

The man hesitated before lowering his head. "I… I don't have money for lodging. My entire village pooled what little we had just to pay for this mission."

There was an awkward silence.

Danzo sighed. *If I ignore him, I won't sleep well tonight…*

"You can stay at my house," he said. "It's just me there anyway."

Kei's eyes gleamed with gratitude. "T-thank you! I won't be a burden, I swear!"

Ten'un observed quietly before tossing each team member a list. "These are the supplies you need. Be ready by morning. Dismissed."

---

As night fell over Konoha, Danzo and Kei sat at a low wooden table in Danzo's home. The scent of freshly cooked food filled the air.

Kei, now wearing a scarf, set down two bowls of rice. "I hope I didn't make too much…"

Danzo entered the room carrying a **huge** bucket of rice.

Kei blinked. He looked at his tiny bowl. Then at Danzo's bucket.

"…Actually, I think I need to cook more," he muttered.

After a few minutes, the last dishes were placed on the table.

"Alright, let's eat," Danzo said, lifting his chopsticks—

"Wait!" Kei interrupted. "I have something special."

He pulled out a small gourd and poured cloudy liquid into two wooden cups.

Danzo raised an eyebrow. "Sake?"

"Yes! Brewed in my village. I wasn't even willing to drink it on the way here," Kei said wistfully.

"Sounds good." Danzo grinned, clinking cups with him.

The two drank, sharing stories as the meal went on.

But soon, the gourd was empty.

Danzo, looking slightly drunk, slumped forward onto the table.

Kei's eyes flickered with satisfaction.

He hesitated for a moment, then cautiously spoke.

"Brother Danzo… Do you know? I was the best hunter in my village. No prey ever escaped my traps."

Danzo murmured something incoherent in response.

Kei smirked. *Good… he's out cold.*

He quietly stood and made his way to the study.

In front of a bookshelf, he frantically began searching.

"Where is it…? If I can just find a chakra extraction method, our village will finally have a ninja! No one will bully us anymore!" he whispered anxiously.

But he didn't notice the shadow behind him.

Danzo stood there, eyes sharp and alert.
