HunterxHunter: I Became Stronger After Death

Chapter 57: Opportunity

Hisoka is a Transmutation-type Nen user, bordering on Enhancement and Conjuration.

In theory, Hisoka can utilize up to 80% of the precision of an Enhancement-type ability. If applied to throwing his playing cards, the resulting destructive power is significant.

Thus, when Machi faced off against Silva, Hisoka, coming from behind, was fully capable of taking Machi out with a single decisive strike.

This is a common outcome in Nen battles where multiple opponents face off against a single target: overwhelming force can lead to the swift elimination of even the most formidable adversaries.

However, Hisoka deliberately avoided attacking Machi.

From this, Moro could discern that Hisoka placed extreme emphasis on direct, one-on-one combat—a mindset that bordered on being a hardline principle.

While this realization was intriguing, it also left Moro feeling a strong sense of regret.

If he had been in Hisoka's position just now, he could have taken the opportunity to eliminate Machi and earned a substantial amount of experience to level up.

But doing so would almost certainly provoke a relentless pursuit from Chrollo and the other members of the Phantom Troupe.

As for joining the Troupe under their so-called "rules"?

Even if it were possible, striking down Machi—a founding member of the Troupe and one of Chrollo's closest comrades—would guarantee a swift and brutal retaliation, regardless of any formal rules.

Moro had already experienced firsthand that such rules were often meaningless in practice.

Thus, he understood that great rewards often came with significant risks.

Given his current limitations, attempting to infiltrate the battlefield directly, as Hisoka had done, would be foolhardy. That realization helped dissipate any lingering regret.

Even if he could redo the scenario, Moro knew he would still choose to observe from the rooftop.

Power should dictate action. He had no intention of overstepping his current capabilities.

Instead of targeting Machi or joining the fray on the battlefield, Moro saw a better opportunity: the Phantom Troupe's fourth member, Kortopi.

In the original timeline, Kortopi staged a fake death and successfully escaped.

Even Hisoka, fully aware of this, ultimately chose to let him go.

With this knowledge in mind, Moro planned to monitor the situation and strike decisively when the timing was right.

Although there was a chance that Hisoka might come after him later, this was a far more manageable risk than facing the wrath of the entire Troupe.

Moro calmed his thoughts and focused on the distant scene below.

Through the glow of the battlefield, he saw the figures clearly illuminated.

Whether by coincidence or intention, Hisoka's stride seemed to carry a subtle, almost provocative elegance. In Kortopi's eyes, this would surely appear as an unmistakable provocation.

"Keep stirring the pot, Hisoka," Moro muttered quietly to himself, maintaining his watchful gaze on the unfolding battle below.

With Hisoka's deliberate theatrics and direct targeting of Kortopi, the focus on him was inevitable. This was the ideal situation for Moro.

On the battlefield:

Hisoka's sudden intervention caused a momentary pause in the confrontation between Machi and Silva. Meanwhile, Kortopi—still processing Hisoka's approach—found himself locked in Hisoka's line of sight.

As time resumed its relentless march, Machi shifted her attention back to Silva, refusing to let up on her offensive.

"Nen Web: Capture!"

Machi raised her hands, causing a lattice of crisscrossing threads to form into a fine, shimmering net.

Though Machi was a natural Transmutation-type, her exceptional talent and relentless training enabled her to utilize Enhancement-type techniques with 100% precision.

This gave her threads incredible strength and durability.

"You won't escape," Machi declared.

She expanded the net and hurled it toward Silva with a sharp throw. The gleaming threads spread wide, forming a deadly trap as they hurtled toward him.

Silva, however, had no intention of being ensnared. With precise footwork and body movements, he left an afterimage at the net's landing point, swiftly circling around to avoid it.

But Machi, gifted with eyes capable of perceiving Nen, immediately saw through Silva's movements. Without hesitation, she pulled back on one of the threads tethered to the net, causing it to twist and pursue Silva like a homing weapon.

Silva glanced briefly at Machi, his expression calm but inwardly impressed.

"These people… they're no amateurs."

Acknowledging her skill, Silva acted decisively. He raised his hand and released a powerful Nen bullet toward the approaching net.

BOOM!

The explosion tore the net apart, scattering its threads into oblivion.

"Fast… too fast," Machi muttered to herself, her pupils contracting slightly.

Silva's ability to summon Nen and attack with such precision at high speed left a strong impression on her.

But despite her acknowledgment of Silva's prowess, Machi didn't hesitate.

Using the explosion as a distraction, she dashed forward, closing the gap between herself and Silva. Her fingers glinted with a dangerous Nen-infused thread as she prepared to deliver a devastating close-range attack.

Her shortened threads were much stronger than her net.

However, just as she moved to strike, Silva shifted his weight, pivoted, and delivered a powerful kick to her shoulder.

THUD.

The impact caused a jellyfish-shaped shockwave to ripple through the air.

Machi let out a pained grunt as the force of Silva's kick sent her flying sideways like a cannonball.

Silva lowered his leg, only to have his path blocked by a volley of bullets fired by Pakunoda's revolver.

While the bullets posed no real threat to Silva, they were enough to briefly slow his advance.

Meanwhile, Hisoka had reached Kortopi.

With a sharp grin, he held playing cards between his fingers, his upper body leaning forward as he closed in on his target.

Kortopi, unable to even ask who this man was, was forced to retreat to avoid Hisoka's relentless slashes.

"Gotcha," Hisoka whispered to himself as he stepped forward, pulling back his arm to deliver another card slash. At the same time, he raised his knee, aiming to drive it into Kortopi's abdomen.

Kortopi managed to cross his arms and block the attack, but the sheer force behind Hisoka's strike sent him flying backward.

Hisoka smiled.

Perfect.

He wasn't interested in the chaotic group battle. His goal was to isolate Kortopi and ensure the duel stayed between them.

On the rooftop, Moro carefully observed the battlefield.

From Hisoka's decision to isolate Kortopi to Chrollo's team redirecting their focus toward Silva, Moro realized one thing.

This was his opportunity.
