Harry Potter: Return From Future

Chapter 67: Snape's Orders

Seeing no reaction forthcoming from Daphne, Snape thinned his lip in frustration. He really was curios what happened for that brat to come and propose friendship at the Slytherin table.

Snape question was followed by complete silence as neither Daphne nor any other student gave any response.

"Well, it seems no one is willing to speak anything," Snape chuckled but his laughter was not one that of humour. The atmosphere inside common room had turned even more chilling and suffocating. The students felt dread creeping in their heart as they heard the laugh from Snape.

"But no worries," Snape added with a smile. "Since, it is first time something like this happened, I am willing to be a bit accommodative."

"I will forget this matter," Snape said much to relieve of most of the students. "And there will be no consequences."

"But the issue which has arisen needs to be solved," he continued. "Starting now… I do not want any such thing to happen…"

"Neither outside this common room nor inside the common room," Snape added. "There will be complete discipline and order, whether inside the common room or outside it."

"I believe my words cannot be clearer," he said.

So, Snape had ordered to put an end to all such things- like bullying and abuse. Although, they knew the order was temporary, till the issue was resolved but the hatred most of the students felt for Daphne increased largely. According to them, Daphne was responsible for all the mess and Harry's approach to the blonde princess was an obvious proof of that.

"Am I clear?" Snape thundered as his voice echoed in the dark common room.

"Yes, professor," the students replied in unison. For them, Snape's order was an iron pillar.

"And I do not want any more of news about what happens in our common room circulating outside," Snape ordered.

"Am I clear?" He thundered again.

"Yes, professors," the students echoed again.

"Am I clear, Miss Greengrass," he asked again.

"Yes, professor," Daphne said with an expressionless face. But inwardly, she was feeling all the stress and anxiety leaving her body. For at least, a foreseeable future, she was not going to be ill treated again.

And she held a lot of gratitude for Harry and Hermione. She did not know how much this action of theirs was intentional but she was really grateful for them. She finally had a feeling that maybe her future would not be as bleak as she had thought couple of days earlier.

Snape gave a last look to most of the students, his eyes lingered on Daphne for few extra moments and then briskly walked away from the common room.

Harry who had been 'getting informed' about all this in the great hall had a smile tugging his lips.

'This went better than expected,' he thought. 'The old man, it seems that he is worrying a lot.'

"Harry?" Hermione nudged from her side. "Why are we sitting here?"

Harry looked around at the almost empty great hall and smiled, "Let us go…"

"What were we even doing sitting here?" Hermione muttered as the duo got up to walk to leave.

They had not even crossed the wooden gates of the great hall when professor McGonagall obstructed their path.

"Mr. Potter," she said and then gave a stiff and sad smile to Hermione, "Miss. Granger."

Hermione still 'dissatisfied and angry' about McGonagall's explanation gave a small nod but did not say anything.

"Headmaster Dumbledore wants to see you," Minerva said as she faced Harry.

"About?" Harry questioned.

"Probably about the change of your elective…" Minerva said but her voice lacked surety.

Harry thought better to argue with Minerva and gave a nod as an agreement and followed behind Minerva.

The duo- Harry Potter and Minerva McGonagall were walking in Hogwarts' corridor. Minerva was few paces ahead and Harry was behind her.

"Mr. Potter," Minerva said. "If you do not mind, can I ask you something?"

"Yes, professor," Harry asked.

"Why did you approach Miss. Greengrass for friendship?" She asked. "And is your approach genuine?"

"Hmmm," Harry said with a thoughtful expression. "It is an interesting question."

"Is Miss. Greengrass not a good girl?" Harry asked back. "Why there is such a hue and cry at my friendship with Miss. Greengrass?"

"Because she is a Slytherin?" Harry drawled slowly. "Or because what you told Hermione?"

Minerva who had been walking forward stopped abruptly. Harry had a smile on his face as he continued walking and moved ahead of Minerva.

"As for my friendship with Miss. Greengrass," Harry said while Minerva started to follow him. "Is completely genuine."

"And if the school is not able to solve her problems, then I will," Harry added with a smirk and this came as another surprise to Minerva.

The duo continued walking as they reached Dumbledore's office and like usual even before Minerva knocked on the doors, the voice of the old coot came from inside, "Come in."

The duo walked into the office and Harry awaited another manipulative game with Albus Dumbledore.
