Chapter 64: Chapter 64- VS Shiratorizawa (Part 4)
"NICE! THE FIRST ONE'S OURS!" Nishinoya shouted, dropping to his knees with his fists clenched and raised in the air.
"Nice! Hinata, Kageyama! You guys saved our asses in that set!" Tanaka said, grateful.
"Hehehe, that super quick attack isn't our trump card for nothing!" Hinata said confidently as he sat on the bench.
"Either way, we need to be fully focused from now on. We won the first set, but the next ones will be even harder," Daichi said.
"What do you mean, Daichi-san? Didn't you see their combo attack? Those idiots' block didn't even come close to stopping it," Tanaka said.
"There's no such thing as an unbeatable play, you idiot!" Tsukishima replied.
"I'm not so sure about that!" Tanaka complained.
"Hey, you're all happy about winning the first set, but that's probably because you haven't realized that none of us could consistently stop Ushiwaka's spikes. Plus, the rest of their team is more experienced and overall better than us. We have to rely on Hinata and Kageyama's combo attack," Tsukishima said in a dark tone.
"What's your problem?! We just won a set, and you're already bringing the team down!" Tanaka said, outraged.
"Calm down, guys! Tsukishima might have a point, but we made it to the finals when no one expected us to. We need to focus on what we can do and, most importantly, not fight among ourselves," Sugawara said.
"Suga's right. There's no reason to stress out beforehand. Right now, we're the team in the lead after winning the first set, and that's all that matters. Like I said before... full focus on the match so we can become champions," Daichi said, trying to instill confidence.
Shiratorizawa POV:
"WELL?!" Washijo said impatiently.
"Well, I still haven't figured out a way to stop that weird quick attack from the first-year duo, but I feel like I'm getting there!" Tendou said with a grin.
"As for their team, aside from the first-year duo and their libero, who's also pretty good, there's no one particularly impressive," Ushiwaka said dryly and honestly.
"Even though we lost the first set... I agree. Their strategies aren't that varied, and most of their players don't have the strength to make up for that," Reon added.
"Hmm… I feel the same about that glasses-wearing rookie. He's got good court awareness, but he doesn't seem to know the best way to use it or how to block efficiently… Seems like he's missing some basic concepts," Tendou said, narrowing his eyes as he looked at Tsukishima.
"THEN I DON'T WANT TO HEAR EXCUSES! EVEN IF YOU CAN'T BLOCK THEM YET, YOU SHOULD AT LEAST TRY TO KEEP THE BALL FROM HITTING THE GROUND!" Washijo shouted as he sent his players back out.
The Second Set Begins.
"Get ready, everyone!" Daichi said as he watched Reon serve towards Karasuno's court, the ball heading straight for him.
"Crap! Cover me!" Daichi called out as Reon's powerful serve hit his arms, bouncing over to the other side of the court.
"Tanaka-san!" Kageyama said as he ran towards the ball and set it with a bump pass to Tanaka.
"THIS ONE'S MINE!" Tanaka shouted as he jumped up for a spike.
"Damn it! I'm screwed!" Tanaka tensed up as he saw Tendou and Ushiwaka forming a double block. But he managed to tip the ball off Ushiwaka's fingertips, softening its impact as it flew towards the back.
"Shirabu-san!" Goshiki called out as he received the ball and directed it toward Shirabu to set up a play.
"One more for you, Ushijima-san!" Shirabu said as he set the ball for Ushiwaka, who powered through Karasuno's block, spiking the ball straight at Nishinoya. The impact shook Nishinoya's arms as the ball flew out of bounds.
1-0 Shiratorizawa
"Phew! Looks like he's done warming up," Nishinoya said.
"Yeah, seems like the real game starts now…" Daichi sighed.
"Nah! I can tell he's still not at his full power yet!" Nishinoya said.
"Oh, come on!" Tanaka said, shocked by Nishinoya's words.
Reon sent another powerful serve, but this time, Nishinoya anticipated it and managed to receive it cleanly.
"Nice receive!" Kageyama said as he moved under the ball and quickly set up a super quick for Hinata. Once again, the attack soared over Shiratorizawa's block, heading straight for Goshiki in the back of the court. He received the ball, but the impact sent him flying backward.
1-1 Tie
"HEY, TSUTOMU! I TOLD YOU NOT TO LET IT DROP! WERE YOU EVEN LISTENING, YOU IDIOT?!" Washijo shouted after Karasuno's point.
"I'M SORRY, SIR!" Goshiki said, bowing in apology.
"Looks like my rival couldn't react in time, huh?" Hinata said, teasing.
"Just you wait! I'm gonna crush you, you bastard!" Goshiki snapped, furious.
"Haha, this guy is so easy to rile up! Now I get why guys like Tendou enjoy doing it," Hinata thought.
After Kageyama's serve, Tanaka made a mistake, leading to a Shiratorizawa point with another strong spike from Ushiwaka.
2-1 Shiratorizawa
BOOM!
BOOM!
Ushiwaka scored two more points in quick succession, making it seem like he was playing a mini-game to demolish Karasuno's blocks.
"AAAH, WHAT THE HELL?! USHIWAKA LOOKS EVEN MORE RELENTLESS NOW!" Saeko freaked out.
"We need to find a way to stop him more often, or we're gonna get steamrolled!" Takinoue said.
"You're right," Shimada said, biting his nails.
After a serve from Taichi, Daichi received the ball and directed it toward Kageyama.
"Tanaka-san!" Kageyama called as he set for Tanaka, who managed to spike between the blockers toward Shiratorizawa's court. But before the ball could hit the floor, Reon dove to keep it in play.
"Nice receive, Ohira-san," Shirabu said as he quickly set the ball for Ushiwaka again. The ace jumped up and struck the ball fiercely, facing a triple block.
CLANG! The sound of Ushiwaka's spike slamming against Hinata's fingertips echoed through the court.
"IT TOUCHED!" Hinata shouted.
"I got it!" Nishinoya called out, making the receive and passing to Kageyama.
"Nice receive!" Kageyama said as he unexpectedly jumped up and spiked the ball himself, sending it straight down past Shiratorizawa's surprised blockers.
4-2 Shiratorizawa
"How sneaky!" Tendou thought, watching Kageyama intently.
"Nice play!" Hinata praised.
"Yeah… Good thing that guy didn't predict it," Kageyama said, returning Tendou's stare.
