Chapter 1379: Missing envoys
This sister of Madam Mo once sailed through the seas and brought many rare items from the sea and other places. She was really strong and bold but later on, she was betrayed by her own partner. It caused Second Madam Mo's entire life to be ruined.
Second Madam Mo lost a leg, which was later amputated. Though she could walk with the help of the amputated leg, she had to give up her business. And all of it was later gobbled by the woman who betrayed her, even now that woman was flourishing while Second Madam Mo spent her days drinking and sleeping with mers. She was already in her late twenties but she did not marry anyone.
Because of this Old Master Mo was really worried about his second daughter, fortunately, Madam Mo was a fitting heir and could lead the Mo family as the matriarch of the Mo family without any problems. If not everything would have been ruined!
Qiao Nan did not trust Second Madam Mo but when he thought about how this was all because of her getting betrayed and her business getting snatched by her sworn sister, he held his words back.
He knew how smart and honest, Second Madam Mo was even now she refused to marry a mer because she knew that she was in no condition to marry and take responsibility for a mer. She told her father, that it was good enough that she wasted her life away alone and did not drag someone else with her.
Old Master Mo thought that as long as Second Madam Mo was married, she would learn to take responsibility but the latter refused. She adamantly insisted that since she no longer had anything in her hands, marrying a mer would only harm him.
Second Madam Mo was a woman with a strong heart even if she was depressed and had good morals.
This was the only reason why Qiao Nan did not stop his wife. He too wanted Second Madam Mo to get better after gaining her confidence.
Yu Dong frowned a little. However, she said after a quick pondering, "Madam Mo, if you do not mind, can you arrange a meeting between your sister and me? I have nothing against you but I need to see if your sister is fitting for the business."
More importantly, she needed to make sure if that the woman was capable enough to hide Yu Dong and her identity. Even if hiding it was impossible, she wanted to at least muddle the water because she did not want someone who had ill intentions to grab hold of her family.
"There is no problem," Madam Mo agreed, she knew that since the two of them were going to cooperate together, it was only natural for Yu Dong to meet with Second Madam Mo. She said to Yu Dong, "I will tell my sister that you want to meet her and bring her to the village for you two to meet. Will tomorrow be fine?"
Yu Dong however shook her head. She said to Madam Mo, "From tomorrow, the Ghost festival is starting and I am going to visit my fiancé's family graves."
Xiao Hua had been preparing for this for a long time, thus Yu Dong did not dare to arrange a meeting. If that mer found out that she was busy when they were supposed to meet his parents, he would throw a racket.
The last time he threw a fuss, he lay down in the middle of her courtyard. He did not eat or drink, just continued lying. Even when she dragged him inside, he would rush inside and lie down. It left quite an impression on Yu Dong as she was startled to see that Xiao Hua could be this patient and silent.
It was then Li Hanjing told her that Xiao Hua could be really childish when he was angry. And she understood what he said the second time she made Xiao Hua angry. He filled her mattress with stones and thorns, so when Yu Dong went to sleep, she felt her back getting prickled by something.
Startled when she jumped down the bed, she saw a letter written in his letter. In the letter, he stated that since she robbed him of his sleep, he would not let her sleep either.
Ever since then Yu Dong has tried her best to keep Xiao Hua happy, because if he became happy then she in the worst-case scenario she would find thorns and needles in the most unexpected place and in mild cases she would find sugar in her soup or salt in her tea.
Madam Mo understood what Yu Dong was trying to say, more importantly, she sensed the same helplessness in Yu Dong's eyes as she held when she was trying to coax her husband.
The two women understood one another with a look in their eyes and nodded before rearranging the meeting to Sunday.

Xie Zhenya looked at the documents in front of her, her expression was livid as she threw down the dagger on the table.
"That woman! She is ruining the entire country!" Xie Zhenya could not help but exclaim. She knew that Xie Xieren was not capable of ruling the country but she never thought that she would be this bad. How could Xie Xieren allow the enemy country to send envoys?
Now one of those messengers was missing, they had no idea when she would be found. Or whether she would be found at all.
"Look for that messenger!" Xie Zhenya ordered the women in front of her. "Go to the imperial city and look for the person who saw this woman, have Gong Xi make a portrait of this woman. We need to find her no matter what!"
