Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle

Chapter 516: The Rush

Shane observed the Smoker Zombies and aside from their deadly smokes that could probably turn them into Zombies if they weren't careful, he felt that they were rather weak. This was especially true if compared to the Steel Zombies a while ago.

As long as they had a working gas mask and avoided being heavily exposed to the smoke, Shane believed that they wouldn't be in trouble against these types of Zombies.

Anyway, Shane watched Lysandra's attempt to clear out smoke… Apparently, each shot from her bow could disperse the toxic clouds while also damaging the zombies.

Kale, on the other hand, held the front line, carefully targeting the zombies' legs to immobilize them before delivering killing blows. By doing this, the Zombies behind them would have trouble moving forward as they were able to block their path.

Shane then used his Stormpiercer Rifle's Adaptive Core mode, firing wide arcs of energy that struck multiple zombies at once.

'This will be quick…' Shane mused as he confirmed that the Smoker Zombies had a weaker defense.

The concentrated fire quickly whittled down the numbers of the Zombies. The only concern was the lingering clouds that made it difficult for them to maneuver. It means that it would be better to stay on their spot and not move at all.

"I can't hold this much longer!" Nia warned as if she stopped casting the breeze she was making, they toxic cloud might start coming at them. They had to kill the Zombies immediately.

"Alright… Finish them off!" Shane shouted. This was indeed not the time to save their Spirit Points and Survivor Skills with a long cooldown.

He activated Lightning Strike, firing a powerful shot that obliterated the last two zombies in a flash of light.

Because of this, however, Shane had to stop using the rifle for a while… After all, the Stormpiercer Rifle was already so hot, and if he continued using it, its durability might not be able to hold on. That would be such a pity if this rifle was destroyed just like that.

Thud… Thud…

[ You have eliminated a Smoker Zombie. ]

Thankfully, as the final Smoker Zombies collapsed, the toxic clouds began to dissipate, leaving the group standing amidst the remains of the Smoker Zombies.

"Shane… You can go ahead and loot them." Lysandra said. She would rather get an Instant Experience Potion or Strength Enhancement Bottles from Shane rather than loot these Zombies. Experience more tales on My Virtual Library Empire

After all, her luck wasn't that good.

Well, it was the same for the others and they encouraged him to just loot all the items and they just wanted to get rewarded by Shane instead.

"I'll get better things from you, Shane." Kale said with a laugh.

Everyone chucked as they knew that Kale was right. They could get weapons, potions, tokens, and even Skill Scroll from Shane!

There was no doubt that it would be better if they just allowed him to loot as much as he wanted.

"Fine…" Shane replied with a laugh as he began to loot.

On the other hand, the others also started checking their items and cleaning their clothes. After all, Kale and those who were in front had obviously been splattered by blood or some minced flesh from the Zombies just now.

"That was... unpleasant," Lysandra muttered, waving a hand in front of her face to clear the lingering smell.

"Smoker Zombies are worse than I imagined… I think their smell got stuck on my halberd." Kale muttered. "Good thing we had Nia." As he said this, he asked a favor of her to fix her halberd's bad smell with her nature-like abilities.

Shane, on the other hand, didn't bother them too much and focused on the loot he just obtained.

[ You have earned 80 Experience Points. ]

[ You have earned 1 Reputation Point. ]

[ Loots obtained: Item Upgrade Crystal x2, Zombie Core x15, 800mL Water, Bread x10, 100mL Steel Zombie Blood, Smoke Bomb Recipe Scroll x1, Lung Purification Elixir x1, Strength Enhancement Bottle x5, Toxic Repeater Bow x1, Gaseous Boots of Speed x1 ]

Shane was satisfied with this loot and after looting ten of them, he couldn't help but smile seeing how many items he had obtained just now.

"Guys… Want to try these Boots of Speed." Shane said as he showed the boots to them.

However, Lysandra was still wearing the Dreadlord Set he had given to her. It had Set Effects and removing the boots would also remove one of the Set Effects.

Instead, the Boots of Speed was tried on by the others.

It could boost their movement speed and was also able to relieve their fatigue. Furthermore, it had an ability that could allow them to move at two times their normal speed. This could allow them to escape in sticky situations.

As for the Smoke Bomb Recipe Scrolls he obtained, Shane couldn't make them just yet but a single scroll could at least allow him to make five Smoke Bombs.

The Lung Purification Elixir, on the other hand, could be considered a cure for those affected by the Smoker Zombie's toxicity.

He only had 10 of them so he didn't plan to sell them in the market and just use it for his clan, in case a member had become affected.

In the meantime, while Shane was getting closer to the Lord-Tier Zombie's Chamber, the various Clans and Survivors who learned that Shane was about to attempt to get his second Lord-Tier Zombie, decided to finally attack the Lord-Tier Zombie Chambers near them.

Apparently, they had already cleared the Territory of the Lord Tier Zombie and the only thing that was left was the Chamber of the Lord Zombie itself.

They simply avoided the Chamber for now since they were worried that they might fail to kill the Lord Zombie and it would escape to somewhere else. It would be difficult to find it again once it left this place, so they could not be hasty.

As a matter of fact, it already happened to those who were rushing after learning about Shane's achievement. They failed to kill the Lord Zombie and in the end, the Zombie was now wandering around.

Asad, the Necromancer, stood at the entrance of the ominous chamber.

[ You are about to enter the Lord-Tier Zombie's Chamber. Failure to eliminate the Lord-Tier Zombie will release the Zombie's restraint and it will be able to leave its chamber from then on. ]

Asad's eyes glowed faintly green as he stone doors of the Lord Tier Zombie's chamber. It was emitting a chilling aura… Asad, however, was undeterred.

"I will be the Second Killer at the very least." he muttered while clutching his Black Grimoire of Eternal Night tightly in one hand. Its cover, made of what appeared to be blackened bone, pulsed faintly as he said this.

Behind him stood an elite army of undead… Currently, he had five Death Knights who were the vanguard. They had a sword and shield with them.

Beside them were the two Mummy Kings wearing tattered golden sashes and ancient jewels.

At the rear, the skeletal form of a Lich moved silently. It was gripping a staff crowned with a glowing skull. Surrounding them were dozens of Skeleton Warriors with their rusted weapons clinking as they moved.

Asad actually had more of them. However, they had fought against Brawler Zombies, Giant Zombies, Tyrant Zombies, and even an Earth King Zombie…

Because of that, his accumulated number of undead creatures had dwindled a lot.

"This should be fine…" Asad said to himself…

Although he had fewer undead creatures compared to when he started raiding this territory, he was still confident.

Indeed, his undead army had been larger when he first entered this territory, but the brutal battles had whittled down his forces. Yet, the core of his undead army was still here. The presence of the Lich alone gave him the confidence to fight against a Lord Tier Zombie.

Furthermore, he has a few more aces up in his sleeves.

Needless to say, Asad was also pumped up after the system's announcement about Shane's previous victory over a Lord Tier Zombie. The First Kill Reward had been massive, and if Shane managed to claim the Second Kill Reward, it would cement his dominance on the leaderboard. Asad couldn't allow that to happen.

If he could kill this Lord Tier Zombie, not only would he gain unparalleled prestige, but he'd also secure loot that would strengthen his necromantic arsenal.

The temptation was too great.

"Let's go!"

Asad gestured with his hand, and the colossal stone doors groaned open, releasing a foul smell…

Inside the chamber, Asad saw the Lord Tier Zombie, standing over four meters tall at the very center of the room.

The system notification rang in Asad's ears:
