Chapter 513: Hunter Zombies
Apparently, despite promising Shane that they wouldn't let anyone know about their transaction, Jim still reported the matter to their leader since he believed that she should know that they made a connection with Shane, the Rank 1 Survivor.
He believed that it might benefit them someday… Furthermore, the fact that he found a Lord-Tier Zombie was something very important and considered an achievement for him. Because of that, he had to boast about this matter to their Clan Leader.
Unfortunately, he seemed to have forgotten to tell their Clan Leader not to expose this matter.
"Not good…" Jim muttered as he saw the Regional Chat. It was already too late to mention that matter to their Clan Leader.
In the end, Jim decided to send a private message to Shane, hoping he would be forgiven.
In any case, he believed that no one would bother their raid right now.
"Right... They should be fine even if the information had already spread everywhere." He thought.

[ Warning: You are about to enter a Lord-Tier Zombie's Territory. Proceed with caution. ]
Shane read the familiar message before he entered the Train Station.
Shane's boots crunched softly as he stepped on the dirt-covered floor.
There were no signs of other people entering or raiding this place at all.
'Interesting…' Shane muttered.
The once-bustling terminal was eerily silent. There was moss that crept all over the place and vines that snaked along through rusted benches. Lastly, there was a faint stench of decay in the air. It was a very familiar odor but it was more tolerable, unlike the ones in the previous Zombie Lord.
As they walked inside, Shane was immediately warned by Cloud about the presence of multiple Zombies.
Shane tightened his grip on the Stormpiercer Rifle. It was a reward he obtained after being the Top 1 Survivor in the Zombie Challenge Event.
To be exact, it was a reward after being the first Survivor to clear the Level 30 Challenge. It means that the second clearer would probably have a different reward than him.
[ Stormpiercer Rifle ( Legendary ): A state-of-the-art energy rifle enhanced by storm-based technology, this weapon fires electrified projectiles that can eliminate targets silently from a distance
Effects: Lightning Strike, Chain Bolt, Precision Surge, Adaptive Core
Soulbound Item: This item can only be used by Shane. ]
It was a Legendary Soulbound Item which was certainly rare since in his memory, only Mythics were Soulbound. However, since it was an item given by the system and wasn't made by a Survivor, it was reasonable.
"They're here." he said calmly as he scanned the shadows for movement.
The team already had some experience fighting within the territory of a Zombie Lord, so they were all quite prepared.
Lysandra suddenly used one of her Skills. Her eyes glowed faintly as she activated Farsight and pointed toward a cluster of rusted train cars. "Movement. Ten targets, closing fast."
She truly had an incredible ability to gather Survivor Skills with her Epic Talent.
[ Quick Learner ( Epic Talent ): The Survivor have an incredible capacity for rapid acquisition and mastery of new skills, knowledge, and abilities. The Quick Learner can absorb information easily, processing complex data and techniques with remarkable speed and accuracy. ]
Because of this, Shane really liked Lysandra to be with him when doing explorations as he believed that she had to gain a lot of combat experience to allow her Quick Leader Talent to show its incredible prowess.
"They're Hunter Zombies…" Shane said as he confirmed it from Cloud.
Kale frowned at this as his hand rested on the hilt of his warhammer.
"I hate those things."
Even though he had an incredible defense, Hunter Zombies had piercing abilities that could penetrate even some plated armor. He had to be careful.
"Formation…" Shane ordered. "We'll deal with them quickly. Don't let them surround us."
They already had great coordination so Shane knew that this wouldn't last that long.
The Hunter Zombies burst from the shadows as they thought that they were still unnoticed.
However, Shane and the others were able to raise their defense immediately.
Shane immediately fired with his rifle!
Bang!
The bullet pierced through the head of one of the Hunter Zombies, eliminating it immediately. Find your next read at My Virtual Library Empire

The others didn't relax as they knew that Shane's weapon was just that good. They analyzed the Hunter Zombie's movements and saw their claws, as long as daggers, seemed to be filled with purplish liquid.
'Poison?' This was everyone's thought.
With this in consideration, they had to ensure not endured by the Zombie.
Shane immediately asked Cloud about this since he wasn't sure if this was their first time encountering a Hunter Zombie that was using some sort of purple poison.
Thankfully, Cloud was quick to gather information.
[ Enemy Identified: Hunter Zombies ( High-Tier ) ]
[ Description: Agile and persistent predators. It doesn't know when to retreat or it's incapable of deciding against its instinct. Hunter Zombies possess enhanced speed and strength. Known for their lone operations. ]
[ Note: Shinja has reported multiple Hunter Zombies capable of using Poison Techniques. ]
'Ohhh… So it's not something new for them to use Poison…' Shane mused as he couldn't really recall all the details regarding all these Zombies, especially after absorbing all the 25 Memory Spheres. That was just too much of an information.
Anyway, the only surprising thing about here was the fact that the Hunter Zombies weren't moving alone but were moving in a pack.
'Well… If that's your only strength, we should be able to end this fast.' Shane thought as he watched his teammates handle the attacks of the Hunter Zombies. The latter were indeed fast but his team was coordinated and were able to defend against the Hunter Zombies without losing their ground.
Shane raised his Stormpiercer Rifle again and this time, he activated its Lightning Strike ability. A crackling bolt of electrified energy shot out, slamming into the lead Hunter Zombie with a thunderous.
Bam!
The creature screeched as electricity coursed through its body, reducing it to charred flesh in seconds.
'That's strong…' Shane was shocked as he didn't expect that a High-Tier Zombie would be killed so easily even if he only hit its chest and not its head.
Because of that, Shane was keen to try all its other abilities against these High-Tier Zombies.
Chain Bolt…
Shane used this second ability and the rifle unleashing a surge of lightning that jumped from one zombie to the next.
Though the Chain Bolt was able to hit all the Zombies, its strength would actually weaken after passing through each of them.
Nonetheless, this move was still lethal.
Three more Hunter Zombies collapsed, their bodies convulsed before falling lifeless to the ground. Shane smiled at this and confirmed that even if they weren't charred, the lightning had still destroyed their cores.
With the remaining Hunter Zombies, Shane decided to just act as support and allowed the others to finish them off.
Lysandra used her Crawler Fang Daggers, a couple of Epic-Grade items that Shane gifted to her..
She used all her might to throw them and they both found their mark, striking the feet of the Zombies and slowing their momentum. Then, Vernon shot its head, killing it swiftly.
"Five left!" Lysandra called out, already preparing for her next attack.
Two Hunter Zombies lunged at Kale, with their poisoned claws aimed at his chest.
Kale simply sidestepped activating Veiled Step, a skill Shane possessed. However, with his talent to infuse abilities, he was able to infuse everyone's boots with Veiled Step as well.
The Spirit Points he used for that wasn't a big deal anyway and he didn't mind doing it with all their other pieces of equipment.
Anyway, for a brief moment, Kale's body moved like a phantom, and the claws passed harmlessly through him.
"Nice try," Kale muttered as he spun around and delivered a devastating slash with his blade.
The Hunter Zombie's head flew clean off, and the second was impaled through the chest.
Nia, standing slightly behind the group, chanted quickly and summoned her Thorn Barrier, one of her support skills. As it materialized, the other Hunter Zombies couldn't escape anymore even if they wanted.
As the Hunter Zombie tried to leap at her, it slammed into the barrier and recoiled, giving Vernon an opening to strike.
"Got it!" Kale shouted as his massive warhammer crashed down on the stunned zombie. The impact shattered its spine, leaving it twitching on the floor…
[ You have eliminated a Hunter Zombie. ]
Meanwhile, Shane already noticed that another group of Zombies had arrived. He didn't bother telling it to his companions and directly shot at them with the Stormpiercer Rifle.
The new group was also a pack of Hunter Zombies.
Shane activated Precision Surge, his vision sharpened as the rifle seemed to have integrated with his System as it suddenly had a mysterious targeting system locked onto the creatures.
With his marksmanship, he probably wouldn't need this targeting assistance but nonetheless, Shane appreciated this ability that only cost 5 Spirit Points to use.
