Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle

Chapter 483: The Clan Leaders

Although Lesley had Petrifying Gaze Talent, it was only good against one target. If used against multiple targets, the effect duration would become shorter or it would become weaker. Stronger targets, whether Survivors or Zombies would be able to get themselves free from her Gaze.

As she recalled the dozens of strong undead creatures that Asad had summoned, she knew that she would have a hard time dealing with this person. To be exact, she felt that this person was a lot more dangerous than Shane, who could still be affected by her Petrifying Gaze if given a chance.

'I hope Lancelot doesn't offend this guy.' Lesley thought for a moment before her gaze turned to the Clan Leader of the New Haven Clan.

Natalie actually sat to Shane's right. According to her information, Natalie was previously a police officer and was really a good leader. Nonetheless, she still looked elegant with the way she dressed and behaved.

It didn't feel as if they were dealing with the Zombie Outbreak and instead, it felt like she was merely here for a vacation.

Then, across from them was Travis, whose casual slouch and playful grin could be easily seen. Just like the rumors about him, he was easygoing… Well, he had the right to be this way because of how strong he was.

He was even leaning back as though he were lounging in his own living room.

'Hmm?' Lesley noticed that Travis was wearing a crimson scarf loosely around his neck… This scarf was definitely not a simple item.

Beside Travis was the Overlord Clan Leader, Lancelot. Despite this place being safe from any Zombie Attacks, he was still wearing polished armor. Well, he was probably the weakest person here so he was calculating every move of the strong Survivors around him.

He was indeed showing a disciplined appearance, which Lesley liked...

Lastly, Alexander, leader of the Phoenix Phalanx, the rank 4 Clan, completed the table. He was definitely quite a muscular guy but because of the loose robes he was wearing, it was being hidden and he seemed more like a scholar.

However, everyone knew that Alexander had the ability to control Lightning. His method of fighting was also very cruel as he would always make charcoal out of them.

Anyway, Lesley didn't look that long as she felt that Alexander's face was just average. He only looked charming whenever he used his lightning…

After a few moments, Lesley focused on their topic.

Well, the conversation had started awkwardly, as was to be expected when leaders with such vastly different personalities came together.

Apparently, it was Travis who had called the meeting to discuss various matters including their collective progress in addressing the Zombie Outbreak, but the atmosphere was far from formal.

"So," Shane said as he placed his teacup down with a soft clink…

"I've found a few records regarding Project Z. But there were still a lot of suspicious things regarding this matter. Any thoughts?"

Asad squinted his eyes and replied. "I'm sure everyone found such information already. This government project was larger than what I expected. It might even be a continuation of an older research project. Anyway, I don't think that's important anymore. Look at those mutated zombies like Spitter and Crypt Crawlers… There's no cure… All the Zombies must be killed. Finding a vaccine or something won't solve the problem as long as the Zombies keep spawning like this is some sort of a game."

Lancelot agreed with his statement.

"That's true… My team is simply focusing on finding new ways to kill Zombies faster."

He then paused for a moment and continued, "Right, speaking of killing Zombies. It felt as if the western regions were where the nests seemed to be most concentrated. We actually discovered seven Lord-Toer Zombie Territories…"

As soon as Lancelot said this, everyone turned their attention to him. After all, they may have found Lord-Tier Zombie's location, but that would only be one or two of them. Finding seven of them meant that Lancelot's territory was truly large or there were just too many of these Lord-Tier Zombies in one location.

Lancelot then continued. "My scouts report that the zombies there are... evolving faster. It seemed to be related to the Lord-Tier Zombie's existence. There were larger hordes and stronger variants appearing. It's clear the nests need to be destroyed, but the terrain is a nightmare. These Lord-Tier Territories are always located in caves, dense forests, and cliffs. It was easy for them to ambush us."

"I believe that a squad of Level 50 Survivors is really a must…" Lancelot said. It was unfortunate that only two members within their clan reached Level 50 after getting rewarded by the system.

The other clans were like that as well. Only two or three members including their clan leader were able to reach Level 50.

On the other hand, Shane's Eclipse Revenant now has a total of twelve members who were able to reach level 50 and above. Of course, Shane wasn't planning to share this information.

Natalie nodded at this information. She also had similar information though not as detailed as Lancelot's scout reports. "The New Haven Clan has begun deploying purifiers to cleanse the areas we've secured, but our resources are limited. Even so, because of that, the mutations of the Zombies or their influence were being limited."

Well, it was no longer a secret that her Clan had a special Survivor with Archbishop Talent. It was all thanks to the viewing screen in the Waiting Area.

This talent could even make a few priests after being blessed by the Archbishop. Thanks to that, they were able to somehow purify areas and control the spawn of Zombies around their territories.

With that process, variants and heavily mutated Zombies were less likely to appear in their area as well.

Travis smirked and leaned forward, balancing his chair on two legs.

"Ahem… I think we should just consider burying those Zombies Lords that we can't deal with… I mean, what we need is a little flair! Take out the nests with a bang! I've got some explosives that'll make even those armored brutes think twice before crawling out of their holes." Travis said since he was also considering collapsing the cave of the Lord-Tier Zombie.

However, the problem was that they would fail to obtain the first kill or any reward for killing it. Because of this, Travis wasn't doing such a terrible way of dealing with Zombies yet.

Lancelot knew that Travis was just half-serious about this matter but he still expressed his disapproval. "I think that we will gain a lot more if we wait to become stronger. I believe that the Lord-Tier Zombies wouldn't go out of their territory anyway."

Travis chuckled and nodded at the man. "Hey, I'm just saying, sometimes you've gotta fight fire with fire—or, you know, zombies with explosions."

Shane sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose but unable to suppress a small smile. Travis's antics, while exasperating, had a way of lightening the tension in the room. Even Asad's stern expression softened slightly, though he quickly masked it with a gruff cough.

'However, to think that he would send an Avatar with an interesting personality instead of himself… This guy is fascinating.' Shane thought as he was able to tell with Cloud's help that the Travis here wasn't the real deal.

It seemed that while he was inside the Vault of Chains, Travis had somehow made another Avatar. It was definitely an interesting Talent.

'I wonder if they noticed this as well.' Shane mused as he wasn't sure whether he was the only one aware of it.

Alexander took a slow, thoughtful sip of his tea before speaking. "The Phoenix Phalanx has been analyzing the mutated strains of Zombies," he began. "Our findings suggest that their accelerated evolution may be tied to an external influence. While the presence of Lord-Tier Zombies is certainly a factor, there could be other causes at play. For instance, my team has reason to believe the Wild Shelter's Necromancers are involved. They may be spreading some kind of poison—or perhaps a catalyst—that's making the Zombies stronger. I wanted to share these findings with all of you."

Lesley's ears perked at that.

'The Necromancers?'

That was a topic she hadn't heard discussed openly before. She watched as the group exchanged theories, they all offered insights based on their respective expertise.
Discover hidden tales at empire

The tea house's serene atmosphere seemed to calm the group's differences, allowing them to chat comfortably with each other.

Even Lancelot and Travis found common ground when discussing strategies for defending settlements near zombie nests or Wild Shelters...

However, what truly made Lesley excited about their discussion was when Shane bought the topic related to the Vampire!

Furthermore, Shane seemed to have a lot of information regarding this mysterious Vampire as if he had really fought against it numerous times!

Of course, they were already aware of this Vampire but what they didn't expect was Shane's claim about the Vampire's origin!

"I'm curious," Shane said as his gaze swept across the group. "Has anyone here heard of the Vampire's Rise Apocalypse? It's one of the supposed options we were given at the start of this whole ordeal."
