Chapter 14: Arrival at camp and the Clan leaders

Upon arriving at the camp, the group was quickly surrounded and welcomed back with respectful nods and murmured greetings. Kaitou's presence, as the youngest member and a clear heir of the Uzumaki Clan, drew more than a few curious glances. However, none dared to voice their thoughts openly - especially in front of Tobirama, Madara and Hashirama, who commanded the group's attention effortlessly.

Once the initial greetings had subsided, Tobirama turned to a nearby Senju clan member and issued a brief instruction. "Show the boy to his quarters. Make sure it's adequate."

The Senju member nodded and began to comply, but he barely managed a step before a soft, lilting voice stopped him in his tracks.

"Fufufu," Shizuka chuckled lightly, her expression serene but her words cutting through the air with precision. "Don't you think a child should stay with their mother?"

The man turned to face her, instinctively shrinking under the weight of her piercing gaze. Though Shizuka wasn't widely known outside her clan, her poise and presence gave her an undeniable air of authority. "I... yes, of course. My apologies," he stammered, retreating hastily.

The other shinobi watching the exchange could only exchange glances, each silently coming to the same conclusion: 'Married woman sure are terrifying.'

"Come, Kaitou," Shizuka said warmly, her tone softening as she turned to her son. "Let's find a place that suits us both."

Kaitou nodded and followed her. It didn't take long for them to locate a cabin spacious enough for the two of them to share. Once inside, Kaitou unpacked a few essentials from his storage seals, including some of Shizuka's belongings and a small selection of books he'd brought for study.

Not long after they had settled in, there came a knock at the door. Shizuka opened it to find a young Senju shinobi standing at attention. "The leaders have requested your presence in the command tent," he said with a bow.

Exchanging a quick glance with Kaitou, Shizuka nodded. Together, they followed the messenger to the tent. The walk took only a few minutes, but Kaitou used the time to observe the camp's layout and note the variety of shinobi present. Though many of the clan members were unfamiliar to him, the emblems on their uniforms told him much about their alliances.

When they entered the command tent, they were greeted by a gathering of the most influential figures in the allied forces. Standing around a large map of the region were the clan heads of all the prominent families allied with the Senju and Uchiha.

Hashirama stepped forward with his signature warm smile. "Ah, there you are. Perfect timing. Now that everyone is here, let's do introductions."

He gestured toward the group, starting with the iconic trio. "Here we have Inosuke Yamanaka, Shikakane Nara, and Chouichiro Akimichi - the Ino-Shika-Cho trio. Their clans have long worked together, and their bond is as strong as their combined strength."

Inosuke, a lean man with sharp eyes, offered a polite nod. Shikakane, with his relaxed demeanor, gave a lazy wave, while the broad-shouldered Chouichiro beamed warmly at Kaitou.

"Next, we have Sasuke Sarutobi and Toubei Shimura, the respective leaders of their clans," Hashirama continued.

Sasuke, a composed man with an air of wisdom, inclined his head respectfully. Toubei, by contrast, scrutinized Kaitou with a calculating gaze that made the boy feel slightly on edge.

"And finally, we have Kaede Inuzuka, Rikuto Aburame, and Hara Hyuga, the heads of their respective families."

Kaede, a vibrant woman with wild hair and a ninken by her side, flashed a toothy grin. Rikuto, silent and unreadable behind his dark sunglasses, stood with the calm precision of his clan. Hara, elegant and aloof, regarded Kaitou with a critical eye but remained silent.

Hashirama then turned to Kaitou and Shizuka, gesturing warmly toward them. "And here we have Kaitou Uzumaki, the young heir to the Uzumaki Clan, and his mother, Shizuka Uzumaki, originally from the Hozuki Clan, whose talents are also nothing to scoff at."

Shizuka gave a small bow, her movements fluid and graceful. "It's an honor to meet you all," she said politely. Her reputation as a Hozuki clan member wasn't widely spread, but her composure carried a quiet dignity that made an impression on the room.

Kaitou followed her example, bowing respectfully. "I look forward to learning from you," he said, careful to keep his tone steady.

As the room settled, Tobirama stepped forward. His sharp tone cut straight to the point, addressing the gathered clan heads. "Now that introductions are done, let's discuss the matter at hand. Kaitou is here mainly to train, but also to observe. His skills will be refined under the tutelage of those most qualified among us."

Toubei Shimura frowned slightly. "A bold plan. But can every clan here contribute to his training? Not all of us are equipped to share our techniques, especially if they rely on exclusive Kekkei Genkai or deeply guarded clan secrets."

Hara Hyuga stepped forward; her tone calm but firm. "The Hyuga Clan's Gentle Fist is not something we teach to outsiders. It's an integral part of our heritage, and we cannot make exceptions. Besides without our Byakugan, the Gentle Fist Style would lose most of its effectiveness."

Rikuto Aburame adjusted his sunglasses. "The same can be said for the Aburame Clan. Our insect techniques are symbiotic and exclusive to our bloodline. While we can offer advice in chakra control, I doubt our methods will be of much use to him."

Kaede Inuzuka chimed in with a chuckle. "I'd love to see the kid try to bond with a ninken, but that's a lifelong connection we don't just hand out. Still, I'm happy to help him hone his instincts in combat."

Tobirama nodded, unperturbed. "I'm aware of the limitations of certain clans, but not all training revolves around clan techniques. Kaitou's core focus will be improving his chakra control, physical conditioning, and combat awareness. Anyone willing to teach in those areas can contribute."

Shikakane Nara, who had been silent thus far, spoke up lazily. "Hmm. Sounds fair enough. I can offer some tactical training - teach him how to think ahead in a fight, and be prepared for the unexpected."

Chouichiro Akimichi grinned. "And I'll see what the boy's got in terms of raw strength. Can't hurt to give him a few tips on stamina, too."

Inosuke Yamanaka gave a small smile. "While our clan's jutsu are exclusive, I can help him strengthen his mental resilience. A sharp mind is just as important as a strong body."

Shizuka, who had been listening quietly, finally spoke. "As Kaitou's mother, I'll oversee his progress closely. I expect nothing but the best from him and his teachers."

Madara, leaning casually against the far wall, smirked. "Well well, if the boy truly has potential outside of Fūinjutsu, let's see how far he can rise. But don't hold back on him - this isn't a playground."

With the main task for todays meeting now concluded, everyone soon finished up and went back to their respective clans.

Before Kaitou and Shizuka could leave they were stopped by Tobirama, "How is your progress with the Body Flicker Jutsu? While it is not an extremely high level technique it is still immensely useful."

Kaitou answered without hesitation, "I've fully understood the theory and am working on the practical aspect now. While I can use it for a few times without much hindrance I still have to become more familiar with it to truly get to master it. When I finished this step, the next will be to reduce or completely remove the hand seals needed to make it more effective and useful in combat, thank you for checking on me, uncle."

Tobirama with a small smile on his face nodded in acknowledgment and sent them off.
