Chapter 209: Jotunheim
In that of snowy place of Jotunheim, Kadoc and Anastasia were walking through the snow, as Kadoc felt the cold in his skinn, or he would have if he wasn't so use to his Infinite Ice transformation.
Kadoc just spoke as his foot stomped into the snow. "Why do I always end up in everything Ice related, First my lostbelt, then You, then my transformation and now this".
Anastasia looked at as she spoke. "Technically you are the one who decides to choose ice for your transformation".
Kadoc looked at Anastasia with a dry smirk. "Yeah, I chose it, but I never thought it would come with so many... complications. I mean, who would've thought that being obsessed with ice would make my life even more difficult?"
Anastasia, wrapped in her own thick cloak, shrugged slightly, unfazed by the cold that didn't seem to affect her as much. "Well, if you had chosen fire or something, we would probably be in a worse situation right now. At least you're used to the cold, even if you complain about it."
Kadoc grumbled under his breath, still not entirely comfortable with the snow-covered landscape. "True... But I swear, if I end up frozen in place one more time, I'll—"
Suddenly, a massive figure loomed ahead in the distance, its massive silhouette casting a shadow over the frozen landscape. The presence of a Jotun could be felt even before it was fully visible, and the ground trembled beneath their feet.
Anastasia's eyes narrowed, her hand instinctively reaching for her weapon. "Looks like we're not alone here."
Kadoc stood tall, adjusting the grip on his transformed ice claws. "I was hoping for a quiet walk. Guess that's not happening."
With the looming threat in sight, the two braced themselves for whatever challenge Jotunheim had in store for them.
Kadoc was then ready too fully transformed, as then Anastasia sent a blast of Ice mage craft sending the Jotun backs as it looked back then as it tryed hit them with his spear as they moved out of the way, Kadoc jumped up as he digged his Ice Claws in the Jotun back, as it tryed to attack Kadoc but he jumped out of the way, using reinforcement mage craft to brace his fall, as Anastasia came in from him, as he slammed her hand down, as Multiple ice hand's came out as went to attack the Jotun, as the Jotune moves away as it slammed his spear done as Ice and Rock went flying.
As then Anastasia extended her arm as a wall of Ice came up and protected them, as the Jotune tryed to attack, as it's arm was cut as it saw it was Kadoc who she done it, as then Kadoc used his Tail Ans stabbed into the Jotune as it screamed as it slammed Kadoc away as then a Ice Solder created by Anastasia caught him.
Kadoc, shaken but quickly recovering from the blow, gripped his claws tightly, his eyes narrowing with determination. The Jotun was massive, but their teamwork was proving effective. He pushed off the ice soldier that had caught him, his eyes scanning the Jotun for its next move.
The Jotun roared in fury, clearly more enraged than before. It swung its massive spear again, and Kadoc swiftly dashed to the side, using his ice-enhanced speed to avoid the strike. He leapt up, his claws gleaming, and this time, he dug them deep into the Jotun's chest, aiming for a vulnerable spot.
Meanwhile, Anastasia, keeping her distance, summoned a massive shard of ice from the ground, launching it with pinpoint accuracy at the Jotun's exposed side. It struck hard, cracking the Jotun's armor and causing it to stumble backward.
Kadoc, seeing the opening, immediately capitalized on it. He launched himself forward, and his tail—sharpened and reinforced by his transformation—slashed through the Jotun's defense. The creature staggered, roaring in pain, but before it could retaliate, Kadoc pulled back just in time.
Anastasia, her breath heavy but controlled, waved her arm once more, causing an ice construct to rise and shield them from the incoming strike of the Jotun's spear. The force of the impact shattered parts of the ice wall, but they were safe for now.
The Jotun, visibly frustrated and bleeding from multiple wounds, let out a furious bellow. It wasn't backing down yet. Anastasia raised an eyebrow, her expression calm but alert. "We're not done yet, but this thing's tough."
Kadoc's voice was tinged with a smirk. "Then let's finish it. I'm getting sick of this snow." He readied himself for another strike, his claws and tail crackling with ice energy, prepared to end this battle and push forward into whatever the frozen wilderness had in store for them next.
"Need help".
As then a Bear came, as it was an Ice bear, as an Ice spike came and stroked down the Jotun the two of them saw who it was, it was a girl that has red eyes, fair skin, white hair, she looks like she is Ten year's old, she has a purple head band, white coat with that of light purple design, she wears Purple pant, and purple boot, her bear was next to her, as she was holding a sword.
The girl looked at as she spoke. "My name is Sitonai, a servant from Proper Human history, will more like Pseudo servant that is".
Kadoc just spoke in his mind. "She really does look like how Ritsuka described her".
Sitonai looked at Kadoc. "Are you the last Master of Humanity".
Kadoc just blinked as he spoke. "Will you see, the answer is... Yes and No".
The girl, Sitonai, tilted her head slightly as she processed Kadoc's ambiguous answer. She stepped forward, her Ice Bear by her side, still towering over the battlefield. Her red eyes gleamed with curiosity, yet there was a sense of calm in her demeanor. The sword she held was poised but not yet aimed at the Jotun, waiting for further explanation.
"Yes and no?" Sitonai repeated, her voice almost childlike, yet tinged with an underlying seriousness. "What does that mean?"
Kadoc, with a heavy sigh, relaxed his stance slightly, understanding that this new player in the field was someone worth explaining things to. "I am not the last master of humanity in the sense of the past, not fully at least. I carry the title and the role... but I am not the same as the one you might have heard of. In a way, I'm also a part of something much bigger than just 'humanity'—I'm part of this Lostbelt."
Anastasia, hearing this, glanced over at Sitonai, her expression neutral but wary. "Another servant? But why would you help us?"
Sitonai didn't immediately answer. Instead, she raised her sword, its blade gleaming with ice energy, and with a flick of her wrist, she sent another sharp spike crashing into the Jotun, finally knocking it down. The creature howled in agony, its massive form crumbling into the snow. Sitonai didn't show any emotion as she turned back to Kadoc and Anastasia.
"I'm here because this Lostbelt needs to be corrected. It was always supposed to go this way, but something... someone interfered." Sitonai's eyes narrowed, clearly referencing some deeper knowledge that hadn't been shared yet.
Kadoc's gaze grew intense, his mind racing. He understood her point. There were too many questions—too many shifts in the timeline and the world itself that didn't make sense. If someone had manipulated the events, it would change everything.
"You know something, don't you?" Kadoc asked.
Sitonai nodded, her expression thoughtful but firm. "I know enough. And I'm not the only one trying to fix it."
The air seemed to grow colder, the weight of their conversation settling over them like the snow around them.
Anastasia's curiosity piqued, her voice cautious. "Who are you working with?"
Sitonai smiled, almost slyly. "Does it matter? Let's just say I have my reasons, and they align with fixing this Lostbelt. I may be a servant, but I'm also something more... something that can change the tide."
Kadoc raised an eyebrow but said nothing. The snowstorm around them picked up again, and they knew the battles weren't over yet. They'd need all the help they could get to figure out what was truly happening in this strange and dangerous world.
Sitonai the looked at Kadoc. "So where is the Actual Last Master of humanity".
Kadoc then spoek. "Ritsuka is probably in a different realm, we are trying to get out of the so we can get back with our group".
Sitonai then spoke looking at as she looked at them. "How did you split up".
Anastasia then spoke. "The Sun God attack us, when we arrived in the lostbelt, this is the short version of events but basically this is what happened".
Sitonai raised an eyebrow, taking in Anastasia's explanation. She paused for a moment, considering the words carefully before responding.
"So, Ritsuka is separated from the group and caught up in something else entirely?" Sitonai asked, her voice measured. "And now, you're trying to regroup?"
Kadoc nodded. "Exactly. The attack by the Sun God threw everything into chaos. It was supposed to be a simple operation, but it turned into a full-blown mess. Some of us got sent to different parts of the Lostbelt, others... well, we're trying to make sense of it all."
Anastasia's expression softened as she added, "But we've learned that this world is far from normal. Something—or someone—has twisted the timeline, and we need to fix it before everything unravels completely."
Sitonai looked at them both, processing the situation, before turning her attention back to the Jotun's fallen body. "I see. So your mission is not just survival but fixing the chaos that's been unleashed."
Kadoc met her gaze. "That's the gist of it. But getting to Ritsuka and the rest of the group is key. We need to make sure we can all reunite and face whatever else this Lostbelt throws at us."
The cold wind picked up again, and the tension in the air thickened. Sitonai's face became more serious as she considered their words. "I'll help you for now, but you must understand, there's a deeper force at play here. If we can't stop it soon, it might be too late for everyone."
Her hand gripped her sword tightly, her gaze fixed on the horizon. "The timeline's already been corrupted, and someone's pulling the strings."
Sitonai then spoke Looking at them. "So do you have Anyway to get back".
Kadoc just srugged. "We are just hoping to find a Portal, or Sense then Realms are connected just walked the way to where ever Ritsuka is".
Sitonai tilted her head, her expression thoughtful as she processed Kadoc's words. "That's... a risky plan," she said, her voice calm but with a hint of concern. "The Lostbelts don't just have random portals or clear connections between realms. There's a chance you'll get lost in the in-between, or worse, end up where you least expect."
Kadoc shot her a glance, his expression unreadable. "I'm aware of the risks, but I don't have much of a choice. We have to find Ritsuka, and this is the fastest way."
Anastasia stepped forward, looking at Sitonai with a more determined gaze. "We've managed to track down energy signatures from Ritsuka before; maybe there's some trace here we can use to guide us."
Sitonai considered this. "I might be able to help with that. My senses are sharper in this world, and if there's anything connected to Ritsuka, I'll find it." She gripped her sword again, her determination growing. "But first, we need to deal with the Jotun. I'm not leaving until we finish what we started."
Kadoc gave a small nod. "Fair enough. Let's clean up here first and then figure out our next move."
Kadoc cracked his neck and took a breath, his ice-imbued powers ready as he stood up straighter. "Alright, then. Anastasia, Sitonai, let's finish this."
Anastasia nodded firmly, summoning her ice magecraft again. The air around her grew colder as she manipulated the snow, forming multiple barriers to create space between them and the Jotun. Sitonai's bear roared as it lumbered forward, positioning itself between the group and their enemies, ready to strike.
Sitonai's eyes glowed with a sharp purple light as she focused. Her stance was confident, and the sword she held seemed to hum with energy. "I'll keep them distracted while you two handle the rest. If we can't defeat them directly, I'll lead them into a trap."
Kadoc smirked, always appreciating a good strategy. "I like the sound of that. Let's work quickly before they get any reinforcements."
With that, the battle resumed, the clash of ice and metal echoing through the frozen wilderness. Kadoc and Anastasia's teamwork was near flawless, with Anastasia using her ice magecraft to freeze the Jotun's movements and Kadoc leveraging his own transformation to land precise attacks with his ice claws and tail. The Jotun were strong, but not fast enough to keep up with the duo's coordinated efforts.
Sitonai danced between the combatants, her sword cutting through the cold air with swift precision. Her bear charged into the fray, smashing into one of the Jotun, sending it sprawling. The ice spikes she summoned exploded out from the ground, hitting their mark and leaving the Jotun temporarily immobilized.
Kadoc glanced around, his icy gaze scanning the battlefield as the last of the Jotun fell. "Looks like that's the last of them."
Sitonai sheathed her sword and wiped the snow from her face, looking at the aftermath. "That was faster than I expected. You two work well together."
Anastasia gave a small smile, brushing a bit of frost off her coat. "We've had our fair share of practice. But now, the real work begins." She turned to Kadoc. "We need to keep looking for Ritsuka. We can't waste any more time."
Kadoc nodded, and the group moved out, heading deeper into Jotunheim with a renewed sense of purpose. They were closer to finding their way back, closer to Ritsuka, and closer to whatever awaited them in this fractured world.
