Fate: The Rise of Shikama Douji

Chapter 30: Scathach training

The training of Scathach under Shikama Doji began. Shikama Doji started teaching Scathach spear techniques and magic. From the very beginning, Scathach displayed extraordinary talent, as if she were a genius born to master every martial and magical art.

Shikama Doji, who throughout his eternal life sought new forms of entertainment, enjoyed teaching his disciples. For him, it was a pastime. He liked Scathach's way of thinking because it resembled his own. Scathach, like Shikama Doji, believed that power was everything and that weakness was an unforgivable sin. In their eyes, weakness was the worst possible sin. The strong could do whatever they wanted with the weak. Perhaps this mindset seemed savage and abnormal to ordinary people, but to Scathach and Shikama Doji, it was the fear of the weak that drove them to criticize. In the end, no matter how much the weak struggled, it was meaningless, as they were controlled by the stronger.

In a world where human lives were cheaper than autumn leaves and the annihilation of humanity was a constant possibility, this idea took on a deeper meaning. An ordinary human in such a world could lose their life without even realizing it. The lives of the weak were so insignificant in this world that, in the eyes of the strong, they seemed even more worthless than ants. The strong took everything from the weak, and this was the law of nature. Was this idea wrong? Certainly not. In the end, the law of the jungle governed this world: the weak were devoured by the strong. This world was a vast, dark forest, where at any moment, you could become prey.

As time passed, Scathach transformed from a little girl into a beautiful young woman. Her spear skills had reached a level where she could perform them at an extraordinary level. Even in magic, she had made remarkable progress, having learned many of Shikama Doji's spells. Shikama Doji imparted his knowledge to Scathach. At times, Scathach was amazed by the depth of Shikama Doji's knowledge. It seemed as though his knowledge was infinite. Shikama Doji knew about everything, and this sometimes gave Scathach the illusion that he possessed "absolute knowledge and absolute power." It seemed as though Shikama Doji was capable of doing anything, like a wish-granting machine that could fulfill any desire.

Unlike Gilgamesh, Shikama Doji was not harsh on Scathach. To Scathach, he was more like an older sister than a strict teacher. They were almost always together, and Scathach gradually became dependent on Shikama Doji. She had never been this close to anyone in her life and had never spent such a long time with anyone. In a vast field, Scathach could be seen wielding her crimson spear, attacking Shikama Doji. Shikama Doji calmly deflected Scathach's attacks using only his hands, as if they posed no particular challenge to him.

Sweat dripped from Scathach's forehead. She threw her spear at Shikama Doji with all her might, but Shikama Doji stopped it with a single finger. The shockwave from the attack destroyed an area spanning a thousand meters, creating a crater a hundred meters wide. As Shikama Doji looked at Scathach with a gentle, carefree smile, Scathach's hands trembled. Every attack she made was futile.

"Hmm, well done. You've improved, but your skills won't grow any further than this. You need a life-and-death battle. Follow me," Shikama Doji explained to Scathach with a serious look. Over the years, Shikama Doji had created many monsters to train Scathach, but none of them were as challenging as a real life-and-death battle. The space in front of them shattered, and Shikama Doji entered a new dimension. Scathach followed him without hesitation.
