Volume 1 Chapter 120
After passing through the gate, Nanapon and I returned to the guild. Naturally, Yoshino-san and Lin-san, who had gone through the gate before us, were not there as they had returned to the Shinjuku guild.
“What happened?” I asked Nanapon, who had been urging us to leave.
“Sorry. I thought it was dangerous to talk more with that person.”
“Because he’s handsome?”
“Of course not.”
“Did you see his status card?”
“Yes. He kept his status card in his jacket’s inner pocket, not in his item bag, so I could easily peek at it.”
He probably didn’t intend to go on any adventures and just wanted to talk to Yoshino-san.
“Did he have a unique skill?”
“Yes, he did.”
“As expected for an A-rank. What was it?”
“It’s called ‘Verity.’ It allows him to know whether someone is telling the truth or lying.”
That’s the worst kind of skill for dealing with anything related to Eleanor.
“That’s definitely problematic…”
“I thought so too. Depending on the questions, our connection to Eleanor could be revealed.”
We had to inform Yoshino-san. Kiryu was probably after information on her contact with Eleanor.
“Nanapon, call Yoshino-san. I’ve got a date with Kaede-chan for sushi, but this seems urgent.”
“It’s not that urgent. We can manage. I’ll call Mieda-san and discuss it with her.”
I hesitated but agreed to leave it to them.
“I need to visit the Shibuya branch soon for that trouble I mentioned yesterday.”
“Kiryu-san is the top ranker there… He might contact you.”
I feared as much.
“Maybe I should cancel the sushi…”
“We don’t know when you’re going to Shibuya yet. I’ll talk to Mieda-san. You go enjoy sushi.”
Reluctantly, I agreed and headed to the lobby to meet Kaede-chan.
“What’s up? Where’s Nanapon?”
“She’s making a call. I’ll explain everything at home.”
“Something happened? We can do sushi another time.”
“I already said it was fine. Let’s go.”
After checking out our gear, Kaede-chan and I headed to the locker room. I took a shower, changed, and then waited for her at the guild entrance. While waiting, I checked my messages from Yamabe-san, confirming a meeting for the day after tomorrow at the Shibuya branch.
“Sorry to keep you waiting. What were you doing?”
“I’ll tell you all about it. Let’s go get sushi. It’s cold.”
We linked arms and headed for the station to catch a taxi to Ginza. We hadn’t reserved a table but managed to get seated at the sushi counter. We ordered our sushi, carefully avoiding any sensitive topics.
“How was adventuring with Nanapon today?”
“She was fine. A bit scared of Lin-san at first.”
“I can see that. Lin-san is a bit intimidating but really nice.”
“Yeah, she even came early to adjust to my schedule.”
We chatted more about Lin-san and Nanapon’s new ice magic skill, as well as my newly acquired presence detection skill. The conversation then shifted to Kaede-chan’s busy schedule and the trouble at the Shibuya branch.
After a satisfying meal, we took a taxi back home, the bill reminding me just how high-end the sushi place was.
