Even Hell’s Affairs Depend on Gold – I Got Fired, but I’ve Acquired an Alchemy Cheat Skill, So I’m Aiming for a Major Life Turnaround

Volume 1 Chapter 119

After finishing our discussion about the potentially dangerous item, I went ahead to join Yoshino-san and Lin-san. Despite noticing that Nanapon and I had been whispering to each other, they didn’t bring it up as we all walked towards the gate.

As we continued on the highway, the gate came into view, along with a few figures, just like in the morning.

“We’ve arrived. Where are you and Asakura-san going, Hajime-san? You mentioned Ginza, right?” Nanapon asked.

“We’re going to have conveyor belt sushi.”

“Rich man’s taste…” she remarked.

Well, that’s just how it is. Everyone wants to try it at least once.

“Just be careful of scams, okay? Adventurers who are thought to have money often get lured into investment schemes,” Lin-san advised.

“I didn’t know that…”

“Adventurers often make a lot of money at a young age and then retire. That’s when they become targets for these schemes.”

Scary. I’d easily fall for that, being clueless about such things.

“I’ll leave those matters to Kaede-chan.”

She handles all the money matters anyway.

“That’s a good idea. She works at the guild and is reliable.”

Kaede-chan does seem competent. Odd though, we graduated from the same university with similar grades. Maybe it’s just a difference in natural ability.

As I pondered Lin-san’s advice and we arrived at the gate’s safety area, Yoshino-san and Lin-san suddenly stopped.

“What’s wrong?” I asked.

“Should we let Hajime and Nanapon go first?” Yoshino-san asked Lin-san, ignoring me.

“It’s too late now. They’ve already seen us.”

Seen us?

I looked around at the adventurers loitering near the gate and spotted a man who was definitely not dressed for adventure. He was in casual clothes, without any weapons or even a bag.

“What do you think he wants?”

“Who knows? But whatever it is, it can’t be good. Hajime, don’t try to act tough.”

“I’m not… Who is he?”

“You don’t know him?”

“That’s A-rank Kiryu, right?” Nanapon recognized him.

Kiryu Akira, an A-rank adventurer I had heard of.

“I didn’t recognize him… he should wear armor.”

“I guess he’s handsome. My friends from university and high school think so too,” Nanapon commented.

“Hmm. I remember Kaede-chan saying he’s a playboy who keeps changing girlfriends.”

We continued walking towards the gate when Kiryu approached us.

“Hello, Yoshino-san,” he greeted.

Yoshino-san’s tone was slightly lower than usual, indicating she wasn’t too fond of him.

“What are you doing here, Kiryu-kun? Doesn’t look like you’re here for adventure…”

“I wanted to talk to you, Yoshino-san.”

“About what? Make it quick.”

Yoshino-san glanced at Lin-san, who was tapping her foot impatiently.

Kiryu chuckled at Lin-san’s impatience and then asked Yoshino-san about Eleanor Ocean.

“So, you’re looking for that witch too…”

“I’ve seen her around here before. We talked briefly.”

“Anything else?”

“No. She’s elusive.”

We managed to avoid mentioning the times I met Eleanor with Yoshino-san.

“Alright. I understand. Thanks, Yoshino-san. And who’s this girl?”

He looked at Nanapon, who quickly hid behind me.

“She’s shy. Just a new adventurer we’re guiding.”

Nanapon whispered to me, urging me to leave quickly.

“Let’s go, I have other plans,” I interrupted their conversation.

Lin-san also excused herself to go shopping and prepare dinner.

“Alright, we’re leaving too. Thanks for today, everyone,” Yoshino-san concluded.

“Thank you,” Nanapon and I expressed our gratitude.

Yoshino-san and Lin-san left through the gate.

“Let’s head back too,” I said to Nanapon.

We passed through the gate and returned to the guild.
