Chapter 7: Orc
*whoosh*
Sarah landed beside me with a jump as she pushed me forward.
"I eliminated the three and the last one for you. It's weak compared to others, so try to think of it as a practice thing or something." Sarah said.
I also wanted to fight so I didn't shy away.
I took out my dagger and laced it with the fire manifested into my hand and rushed towards the only palghar left.
*growl*
It growled as it looked at me rushing towards itself. Maybe Sarah was a Tier 2 deviant, so they were careful with her, but the moment it saw me rushing in its direction, it looked more aggressive and ferociously rushed into my direction.
'This fucker! I also think I'm weak?'
I chuckled in my mind as he used fire to jump high in the sky above the monsters and summoned ten fire lances that I tried to copy from Sarah. Fire lances short towards the monster, who looked confusedly at me above, only to be rained down by the blasts.
Then I put enough firepower behind the dagger to launch it like a rocket towards the monster. Its handle broke due to impact, but thankfully, the metallic blade managed to be successfully geared toward the monster, piercing through it at lightning speed. The monster dropped lifelessly as it died on the spot.
'Phew...that went smoothly. I was so damn cool
I narcissistically praised myself over my first hunt...or second?
I used my vast combat experience and strategic intelligence to formulate a plan to fight the monster according to my powers, and it went well, except for the part when the handle broke due to the impact of the fire blast that I was to launch it.
I landed safely beside Sarah as she looked at me with a surprised face.
"No wonder they called you a genius back in school. You deserve the title. You fight way more maturely even when compared to some experienced Devaints." Sarah said and then looked in front where an ice structure with humongous ice pillars formed everything. Even though the distance between us was huge, I could feel the cold and chilly breeze brushing my body. The pillars were drenched in crimson blood and I could see tiny dog-like monster figures impaled by the sharp ice pillars.
"Did...he killed so many monsters by himself?!" I felt surprised and scared that such a powerful individual was beside me until now.
"Well, Dad is a Tier 7 Devaint, so it's not that difficult for him. Let's go," Sarah said; she ran in the direction away from the pillars. I naturally followed her since she seemed to be aware of the surroundings more than me.
"By the way, about that burn mark...on your back. That should have healed by now, but for some reason, the healing potion doesn't seem to be working. Make sure you find a good healer once you leave the dungeon." Sarah adviced.
"Hmm." Ethan simply nodded and followed her.
"You kid! You did damn well even though it's your first fight"
Suddenly, I heard a familiar voice and noticed Fernandez who was running right beside us.
'So fast...'
I wondered as the man caught up to us within a minute from such a long distance. Indeed, high-tier Devaints are absolute powerhouses.
"I just did what my instincts told me to do" I simply stated and shrugged it off.
"Then you have damn good instincts kid. If your fellow students from school saw you fight, they might puke buckets of blood in envy"
I ignored his words and thought about something that seemed even more important thing for me right now...my ice cream!
Fuck it! Just a random fleeting thought about ice cream appeared in my mind, and I began to crave one now.

After two days of wandering and camping here and there, we managed to pass through a lot of places that were infested with different kinds of monsters, but the most common ones we encountered until now were the Palghars. Although I managed to learn a lot and finally learned to balance out my fighting experience along with the powers that have awakened. Moreover, I also learned about my shortcomings, the most important one, being that I'm not powerful enough to challenge a peak Tier 2 monster all alone.
We soon entered a strange deserted valley with nothing but dry rocks and red dust. As we walked through a narrow passageway within the valley, an orc emerged out of the hidden spots within the humongous rock he looked at the three tiny humans before their eyes menacingly. His bulging muscles and dark green body with propounded strange wriggling nerves under its skin looked weird and strange.
"Grrr!!!!!!" The orc screamed loudly as he pointed his massive axe towards Fernandez. He stood tall at a height of around 4 meters as, and he looked powerful and menacing.
"???"
Fernandez looked at the idiot in a daze as he felt lost for words.
"You two, teach this lunatic a good lesson," Fernandez said as he sat on a nearby rock.
"Grrrraaaa!!!!" Orc, as if felt humiliated by his words, jumped down and handed a few feet away from us as he screamed angrily.
*crackle*crackle*crackle*cracle*
I decided to go with Lightning this time. As menacing lightning crackled around my entire body. I felt an entirely different level of power this time that felt more powerful and lethal than, therefore, itself.
Both Fernandez and Sarah were a little surprised, but they said nothing to me as they focused on the enemy in front of us.
"Orcs are slow due to their big body size, but their punch packed a great strength. Their defenses are also damn hard, thanks to their magic and physical resistance against the attacks. Ethan, your lightning ability can be a damn annoyance to it so aim at his upper body to divert its attention, and Sarah, aim for its legs in the meantime. Orcs don't train their legs, so legs are their weak spots."
Fernandez said as he raised his hand and trapped me, Sarah, and the orc in a massive ice dome.
*BAM*
Orc instinctively tried to break the ice but failed miserably, as it didn't even leave a scratch.
"Grrr....Grrraa....Growl...."
The monster halted his action as it looked at me and Sarah and rushed to attack us.
"Try to aim its eyes, if you can," Sarah said as both of us rushed at the monster.
Maybe because I was assured by Fernandez's presence, or it was just me who truly sought to fight against the monsters, I was getting more and more bold. I used fire to jump high and then rained lighting on the poor orc. Although my attack didn't do much instead creating some annoyance and diversion for a Peak Tier 2 monster, Sarah managed to take advantage as she rushed the monstrosity and attacked its legs.
"Shit..." I cursed as I noticed a massive axe coming towards me and...*BAM*...a single strike sent me flying like a ragdoll. I crashed against the ice dome as I coughed a mouthful of blood.
Thankfully, I intercepted the attack on time and used lighting to attack the hand to decrease the power behind the attack and I used fire to decrease the intensity of the impact with the dome.
"Hmph! Damn, brats. Don't just rush Like an idiot and try to coordinate your attacks. If want to distract it, go for its eyes. Block its vision. And you, go for the joints and try to attack the previous injuries repeatedly." Fernandez shouted at us as he looked disappointed.
*BOOM*
I rushed instantly back as I held back my pain. Orc was too feirceto let us process any plan or strategy.
I summoned several fireballs and threw them at the Orc.
"GRAAA!!!"
Orc roared angrily as it swung its axe at the fireballs, but some still managed to land as I took advantage of the smoke and landed on its head.
*touch*
I touched one of its eyes, and I could feel my hand on its soft, squishy green eyes.
"Let's see if you can handle lightning too or not?"
*Crackle*Crackle*Crackle*Crackle*Crackle*
"Graaaa!!!!!!!"
Orc screamed in pain as sudden and rampant lightning made him stunned.
*kacha*
Sarah took advantage of it as she managed to injure the orc's knees and cut itself badly, resulting in its fall.
"...You can kill it." I saw Sarah looking at me with her weird gaze as ready to punch at me to claim the right to take the monster's life. I had no intention of fighting her over something this garbage because my mana reserves were about to hit the bottom. But she can fight a little more, thanks to her being a Tier 2 Deviant. I used almost 90% percent mana in my fight with the damn Orc.
